Hi, I've only been playing the Multiplayer,

but because of severe bugs I gave up and quit.

Now I've started the single player.

Can someone help me with the combat?

  • How do I select my whole group (short cut) ?
  • Why can't I click the buttons like "hold position (H)" ? They are just grey.
Or: Is it basically possible to tell my group to wait for me while my assassin does some ... assassinations?
  • Does the AI do a good job with using certain abilities like AOE spells ? Or should I only use them manually or
don't learn them at all ?
  • Do you just play your main character and let your team be led by the AI ? Or is this not possible on
"hard / nightmare" ? Especially when I saw the rudimentary "tactics section" I got my doubts.
  • The single player combat as a whole felt sooo clumsy and confusing - also because of the crazy camera (PC).
Is this a wrong impression and will it get better over time ? Please say "yes"

Thank you.

+ It can be done, but is finicky. You can tell your group to "hold position" by clicking on the button, but be warned: issueing any other command will override the hold command. For some insane reason. Just be careful to tell everyone to hold position at the start of the battle. (Disclaimer: I'm not even sure if it's possible in regular mode at all because then your team would just attack on their own, I guess? I dunno, haven't tried. But it definitely works like this in tac cam. Maybe someone else can clarify.)

That said, you can still assassinate while your team does their thing if you don't feel like battling the Hold button.

+ Regarding the AI and AOE spells -- do you play with Friendly Fire on? If yes, I wouldn't trust the AI with AOE spells. If no, the AI does a decent enough job. You might still want to put things that require timing (like Fire Mine or Barrier) manually for optimal effectiveness, but stuff like Chain Lightning and Immolate I mostly leave to the AI. Has worked fine so far.

+ It took me a looong time to learn how to make tac cam obey my command, but I finally managed to where it feels natural. If tac cam can be beaten into submission, I'm sure the less-tedious regular camera can, too. It just takes a while to get used to it.
