**Last mission spoiler**

How to unlock "No one left behind" achievement (Every member survive last mission) ?

On my both last mission play through, Thane/Legion that I sent into ventilation get killed because the door was jammed. All of my squad members were loyal. I researched every upgrade that each member suggested. I could not have everything researched because the credit in the game is quite limited ... but I'm sure I did at least 80%. Some other guys tried sending Tali/Mordin and they got killed the same way.

I heard that to get everyone to survive you've got to

a) do all of their missions;

B) all Normandy upgrades, otherwise some might get killed when the Normandy's hit;

possibly c) do all the personal upgrades (like Subject Zero's ability, etc.)

If anyone knows other requirements, please do post.

I've done a) B) c) in all of my try outs. My Shepard was imported from ME1 and by the time I reached last mission I was level 23.

I think its an upgrade thing too. I sent Garrus to go back with the Normandy crew and Mordin died. I assume he wasn't properly upgraded.

Could it be something that you do earlier has repercussions? Are you absolutely sure you gave them all upgrades?

This walkthrough of mine has to be perfect. I would appreciate any info as much as the OP. Maybe someone with an official guide can help?..

I have the guide and all it says is that doing the squads quests as well as upgrades ONLY HELPS THE CHANCES of survival of the squad. So I'm guessing there is no specific way to guarantee everyone survives. I could be wrong, but I just scoured the book for this info and thats all I came accross.

Right... Lazy authors... they couldn't have asked the exact way?

Searching the boards only gave me the following:

Do all upgrades on team members and Normandy.

For teams:

1)Tech - Tali, Fire team leader - Miranda

2) Biotic - Samara, Fire team leader - Garrus

Although there are confusing reports... They couldn't have left it to a percentage chance, could they?

very possible. Yeah I picked Legion for the Tech part and the rest as you have said and Mordin died. go figure...
I'll try Tali next time.

From what I can tell, you need to do all the upgrades for the ship, do all the loyalty quests for each party member, AND make good choices as far as who does what task.

For example, the first time I did the mission, I chose Thane as the guy to sneak in through the vents. My rationale was "Well, he's good at sneaking," and even he said that. But he ended up getting shot because he couldn't close the door quickly enough. The game gives you hints when you choose about which character you need to pick. I chose Legion the second time, and everybody ended up living.

I actually liked this part of the game, in that it actually forces you to KNOW who your teammates are in order to make the best decisions. A nice touch.

My team choices, for the curious

1st team leader: Garrus

Infilitration: Legion

Escort survivors back: Mordin (I actually thought this was a bad choice after I had done it, but damn if the tough doctor didn't get them all back in one piece)

2nd team leader: Miranda

Biotic: Jack

Everybody lived.

These choices seemed logical to me from the start, but Thane's failure is... surprising, to say the least. Oh well, I'll see it when I get there.

I guess it's because he's not really a pure "techie" guy, just sorta knows tech. From what I've heard, Tali also works as the infiltration specialist, but my Tali-loving Shepard wouldn't dream of sending her off alone. :)

Same as this, except I had Jacob escort the survivors. Everyone survived.

Wait you chose Thane as the first specialist? The guy has no tech abilities, of course he's going to fail. Legion worked well for me the first time, although Tali sounds good as well. I went:

Leader 1: Jacob
Specialist 1: Legion

Protect survivors: Grunt

Leader 2: Miranda
Specialist 2: Samara

Tali ended up dying in then end though, I don't know why D:

I think the assumption I made the first time through was that, since they didn't list EVERY team member in the list of potential choices, that everybody listed was totally qualified to do the task, and it was just a matter of personal preference (like your choices of who to take to fight the archdemon in DA:O).  The bullet in Thane's head disabused me of that notion rather quickly, however. :)

Really? I sent Tali, the tech "expert" and she ended up suffering the same fate... :[ I hate Jacob escort me through the swarms with Jack as a teammate... she got claimed too. This is a hard achievement :[

A lot of it seems to come down to luck. Next playthrough, I'm going to make sure to grab every upgrade and just all around do everything, and see if that helps any.

I got everyone to survive, I had tali and grunt with me the whole time. I sent legion into the ducts, and garrus leads the other team. When your boy is in the ducts you have to run up to these clickable objects that vent the heat. There will be a life bar in the bottom right.

"No One Left Behind" is a very challenging achievement to get. However, make sure that you read the short character synopses right before you choose your Fire Team Leader(s)/Hacker/Biotic Shield.

I got "No One Left Behind" on my first try. I was very stunned when I realized that nobody died. Well except for the whole rest of the Normandy crew. When I got to the place, Chakwas was the only survivor but I didn't give her an escort, so she died.

I was just waiting for someone to tell me that someone else didn't make it or something.

Edit: Now that I think about it, there were other survivors besides her, but they were nobodies I think, so weren't mentioned.

Could any developer explain how can I make sure I got "No One Left Behind" in my second playthrough (I had the achievement in my first playthrough so looking to it won't help me as it is already unlocked).

i've got 3 possible solutions that i picked up from /v/ a few days ago:

"Nobody died on my playthrough. Legion as the engineer, Miranda leader of both fire teams, Jacob escort, and Samara for the biotic shield. Thane and Mordin were on my final team. Did all the loyalty quests.

So did anyone else finish the game with everyone alive? This was my setup:
Jack + Grunt in the squad, from start till end.
Legion goes trough the vents
Thane secures the survivors
Samara holds the biotic shield
Miranda leads the other team both times
Jack starts falling at the end, i catch her, Grunt gets hit by a pillar, but he is MOTHER****ING Krogan, so he lives. Also pulls me up after the oh-so-slow-motion jump sequence.
Ending in lvl 27, playtime 33h.
EPIC

Mine was:

Legion in vents. (First time I used Thane thinking, "Oh he's sneaky he'll be fine." He got hit in the face by a ****ing rocket and I ALT+F4'd going "**** THAT NOISE!")
Garrus leading both teams.
Mordin escorting the crew.
Jack doing the big bubble.
Final team of Thane and Legion fighting the Terminator.
Legion being a bro and grabbin my hand up on the Normandy.

No deaths, feels good man.

Time to cuddle with Miranda. :3"

Hmm.. I found it pretty easy to get on my first (although it was only on Veteran Difficulty) Playthrough I sent Tali into the Ventilation System and Had Miranda head the other team and sent Garrus Back to the ship with the normandy crew. I did have all the upgrades for each character and ship upgrades except for the one to heal Shepards scars and the one for the probes. Maybe on my Insanity playthrough It will present more of a challenge as Ive been dieing more frequently lol

I didn't find this achievement particularly challenging at all, I achieved it with my first play-through, though I might have intuitively made the right combination of choices:

(Researched all Ship Enhancements)

Specialist: Legion
Fire Team Leader: Garrus
Shephard Team: Tali and Jacob

Chose Mission over Escort choice.

2nd Team Leader: Garrus
Biotic: Samara
Shephard Team: Tali and Jacob

Finale Team: Garrus and Tali

Team with me: Mordin and Thane

Pipes: Legion (make sure to keep hitting the buttons when he gets stuck)

Fire Team: Miranda

Sent back: Jacob

Swarm: Samara

Fire Team: Miranda

A few posts up someone mentions the exact same setup, assume it's a winning combo. Fun ending but really not hard to work out who to bring with to keep all alive. Just read the little bio's when choosing.
