Anyone know what this does to him now that he's Tal-Vashoth, a part of a group he despises?

I don't think it does anything. He just completely stopped talking after that for me, like most of the companions once I did their story quest. Doesn't really matter what choice you make, for any of them.

Based on his tarot card thing alone. First pt I had him foresake his crew and I missed Krem :-( so 2nd pt I saved them. First pt his card is all strong and heroic looking and now he's on his knees...and just looks so broken...
Anyone know what this does to him now that he's Tal-Vashoth, a part of a group he despises?
Actually if you know your Tarot the Qun card is more negative since its ten swords the Tal Vashoth one is wheel of fortune. So actually his "sad" looking one is more positive.
Hell most of the companions don't have nice things to say to bull about the charger issue if you sacrifice them for the alliance.

I made my choice based on what was best for the Inquisition at the time, so the Chargers had to go. They're soldiers, and soldiers live to be sacrificed. Maybe not mercenaries, but under me, all fighters are soldiers.
Only thing that makes me think about saving them is the idea of giving the Qun a foothold in our part of Thedas, even if it is to help us... that doesn't sit well with me. Not a fan of the Qun, even though I respect the Qunari's strength and resolve.

I like the Chargers and all, but an alliance between a whole nation and your scrappy little organization that needs to save the world takes precedence. Saving the Chargers feels like an "f you" to all the people who died in Haven and every other place so that your cause could have a chance.
If Bull wants to leave the Qun, he's going to have to do it for his own reasons.

This was probably the hardest decision, I hear ya, OP.
It had to be made only because of the fog of war, either way it was a sucky decision.
Krem, Grim, Skinner, Stitches, Rocky, Dalish. I remembered their names even as I condemned them to death.
I put mission 1st and the alliance 1st, over their lives. I spent their lives, but not needlessly, maybe even necessary.
This is part of being the Inquisitor. It's not meant to be easy. Even if Krem was voiced by Jennifer Hale. That broke my heart.

Bull's Qun card looks nothing like how Ten of Swords are usually depicted...

If you let the Chargers die, you get a bunch of Talis war table quests.
I've played through both ways choosing to let them live and choosing to let them die. To me it seemed like he took the whole Tal-Vashoth thing really hard and was more open about it. The loss of the chargers he seemed to bury and put his game-face on for. Its a crap decision. I don't really care for either outcome. ![]()

He's good either way. The scene where he says goodbye to his Chargers has some unfortunate animation choices though. It's supposed to be sweet and touching and all I could wonder was "Did he just chuck the entire urn over the side?!"

I always choose the Alliance over the Chargers. The Chargers don't get special treatment just because they're Iron Bull's buddies.

The card where you lose the crew is extremely unsettling because it hints at him being a mindless pawn, I wouldn't call it heroic.

I can't help but think that if the Inquisition keeps the Alliance, then Sten would be able to bridge the gap between the Qun and the Thedas Chantry.
And prevent a war from ever taking place.

"It is acceptable to spend their lives if necessary. It is not acceptable, however, to waste those lives." - Chief Petty Officer Mendez, Halo: The Fall of Reach
An alliance with the Qunari is a huge boon for the Inquisition. The Chargers gave their lives for this alliance, and I'd not see their honorable sacrifices wasted. Every stab into Cory's back with my daggers was for one of the chargers.

My problem was that the Chargers were like family. It's hard to tell someone to send their family to go die. I struggled with it. But my first PT I couldn't let them die. I couldn't let him lose his little family like that. Next time I may go for the alliance...but it's still so effing sad.

If the qunari dreadnaught can't stand up to a few mages and if losing one is all that takes to prevent alliance from forming then they hardly seem like allies worth having. Might be worth it to keep some red lyrium around to ship it to Seheron on some sunny day.
Though the Ben dudes seem to be rather understanding about the whole thing. They don't even try very hard to kill the Bull afterwards.

tmp, good to see you. I hope we get some of your mods for this game.
I can understand the Qunari being touchy about an alliance. They make a big deal of saying how unprecedented it was. In my case, my Inquisitor is a mage and allied with the rebel mages- not going to win many points in Qunandar. Plus I figure this mission is more of a test than anything. If you're too soft to give up a few men to accomplish a simple mission, you're not trustworthy as an ally.

Bull doesn't really get a perfectly happy outcome either way. He can forsake his adopted family or he can forsake everything he's ever believed in and held sacred, the system he's used to define himself.
Both of his tarot cards are depressing. One has him as a lost soul who doesn't know what to believe anymore. The other has him as part of a cruel machine.
That being said, frankly, Bull's happiness isn't my priority during that mission. I feel for him, and for the chargers, but I don't consider half a dozen mercenaries to be worth the whole of the qunari navy and intelligence network.
I understand why plenty of people feel differently, and that's their right.
