I really wanted to like this game, but after finding the 87897152 enemy inmune to my mage spells, SPOILER Hawke /SPOILER appearence, SPOILER Warden /SPOILER absence, terribe controls, boring mages, extremely boring enormous maps, itemization requiring absurd amounts of "auto-search" taking stones, herbs, etc from the ground, lore contradictions and boring codex...
Anyone else at this point? Today I'd been certain I would not touch the game again; after 60 hours I've had enough. At some level, I feel bad because I like Bioware and Dragon Age lore, but this game simply feels appointed to someone that is not me.
Anyone else stopped playing after so much time trying?
After a month, I've decided to quit...

I didn't stop playing, but I had to abandon my character who was probably 90% done with the game. I just couldn't push through that last 10%. I'm hoping this character will see me through until the MMO I was playing before DAI came out gets patched in February, both because I just want something to do, but also because if it doesn't work now, it probably never will.

Nope. Completed the MQ with my first Inquisitor, and now playing the second, and also killing Dragons with the first. But in the second campaign with my Mage, I did realize that taking a secondary elemental staff might be a good idea.

Taking a secondary, or third elemental staff serves nothing. Almost every powerful enemy keeps invincibility/resistance to spells. Not metioneing ridiculous low weapon damage, that directly affects spell damage.

They also tend to have weaknesses.Almost every powerful enemy keeps invincibility/resistance to spells.
As to the low weapon damage, mages are not primarily damage dealers in DAI. Also, you are not supposed to be able to kill a high level enemy in two hits.

I remember that point. Before the game actually ended I remember wanting it to end. And fast.
Completely lost interest with about 20% to go. Had to force feed myself the remainder of the game.
The difference between playing on hard and nightmare, it felt like nightmare made the game more interesting. If you can call it that.
It forced you to explore and quest in a completely different manner.
Everyone should play this game on nightmare the first time through. Because otherwise, once finished, I cannot imagine how anyone can replay this game a second time.
Long-term replayability = zero.

Where in the previous games (or at least DAO), the player got to choose the focus for their mage. It's fine for Bioware to implement a new vision, but not at all surprising that this vision is unfun for many who prefer to play mages. I remember David Gaider explaining to a forum poster a couple years ago that it didn't matter what kind of game the poster wanted to play. What mattered was what kind of game Bioware wanted to make. Personally, I think this attitude is the source of a lot of Bioware's problems. They get too enamored of "bright" ideas without thinking through whether they will result in a fun experience for the player. Hint: if mages are going to be resource-starved and squishy, their players are going to expect a proportional payoff. Second hint: being able to utilize a very limited number of abilities and limiting the use of those abilities via very limited mana + cooldowns + resistances is not the basis for a fun system, particularly when weapon-damage is significantly subpar.

Is this nightmare thing? On hard i don't think I found any enemy immune to some damage type yet. Or do you mean immune to some type of CC? If the latter then yes, but pretty much any enemy is still going to have some openings that can be exploited by a member of some class present.I really wanted to like this game, but after finding the 87897152 enemy inmune to my mage spells

There are lots of enemies effectively immune on hard. I mean, you do damage, but it's reduced enough and HP pools are bloated enough that it's effectively immune. Still, I think mage builds are easy and varied enough that I've never found myself unable to damage without even thinking about having to swap a weapon.
My RM or KE always have at least one electric, cold, fire and spirit type damage spell they can spam.

Hmm I'm playing on hard but didn't really notice that. But then my PC is a rogue and I usually take just one mage with me, and they generally focus on setting up the combos for the others or CCing stuff that I'm not busy killing at the moment (unless it's Dorian with his fire tree, then he just sets all he sees on fire and blows it up with the fire mines)There are lots of enemies effectively immune on hard. I'm a big mage player, so I notice it more. But I don't think it's a problem unlike DA2, because the mage trees are just designed for you to take advantage of a variety of elemental damage types.

I'm still going, but I'm hearing the people who are moving on.
There a few things that someone somehow decided were good thing and they were wrong. Very wrong.
For me the interface is largely to blame, need a quick weapon change, the inventory system isn't so great that I want to spend a whole lot of time in it.

The only annoying thing about elemental resistances is managing different staves. You can (and should) load out your bar so you have different options, but creating 2+ staves per mage to swap out at various times is just annoying.

Same here sort of. I've forced myself to almost 100 percent the game with a Human Reaver whom I didn't realize looked like a twit until I got to Haven (Not complaining about the character creator but damn I feel sorry for any girls who play this game who don't want to look like tomboys) I tried a few different characters afterwards. The furthest I got before getting bored was to adamant fortress with a qunari templar. The combat isn't terrible, but there is no excuse for not being able to curb stomp everything on nightmare unless you're auto-leveling or something. The only time I even used the tactical camera was to cheat my way through the fallow mire to avoid waking up the corpses.
This wouldn't be such a problem if the world wasn't so damn boring. Oh sure, the hinterlands alone are twice the size of your origins party camp or whatever but all the quests are filler and involve nothing but traveling somewhere and pressing a few buttons. Even the pc sounds bored as hell. The silent warden had more personality than this robot.
I think the last straw was the forced sjw bullshit but I have a feeling I would be banned for explaining

I beat the entire game (completionist here, all that's missing are some bottles and mosaic tiles), and had no problem with my rift mage. So not really sure why so many enemies were immune to your spells to a frustrating degree.
Loved Hawke's appearance, was satisfied with their explanation of what the Warden was doing enough that I now have closure on that character, and generally had a lot of fun.
Even on my second playthrough, I still have the desire to complete most of the sidequests, just cos playing my rogue is also a ton of fun.
I think future playthroughs, I may focus mostly on story and stay closer to 30 hours, but that'll depend on how much fun other specs are as well.
