Do timers become longer than 1 hour in the later stages of the game?

I could always let them progress while I go to sleep...

yeah lot of the side/special missions later on in the game can go from 1 to 24 hours I think I saw one.Heres a referance about what quests have what timers  Wiki

Why would they 1.5 years before final content is done? They were obvIously working on it with the expectation themselves that it would be in the game. The hype was great - but again, it's a huge chunk of time before the game is final. Things change. I'm bummed, but I'm not holding them to something they were working on way back when.

ME 4 - said the Mako is back. I'm excited but still understand things can change at that stage.

They could have said something a month out of launch, a week out of launch. They chose not to. They were willfully allowing incorrect perceptions of their game to drive sales. Dishonest would be a nice word for it.

Hence the titles of Alpha and Beta. Bioware is not responsible for false impressions, as all content may be subject to change.

That said, I was looking forward to aiding Varric's attitude in my choice to place the people above the Keep as my priority. This eventually lead to my entire RP approach for my first Inquisitor.

Thank you for the link. Yeah, some missions require 1440 minutes to unlock, exactly 24 hours. I'll keep dragon age open during nights and while I'll be out to work then: it will be like having to wait for a movie to download in order to be able to see it... too bad that in this case I've paid for it.

Those timers are based on your system clock so you don't need to keep the game open to run them.

I think the majority of the War Table missions are four hours or less and unless you are powering through the game which I know some people do, generally you should be able to run most of the missions while you are playing the game or away doing something else.

Found the problem with doing all the missiosn it makes you over leveled for some of the mission quests once I got to skyfold I was always 2-3 levels over the recommended, due to having to do other quests while the side missions were being done,so none of the loot that I got was any good as it was under my level, more so for belts, rings, necklaces as I made the armour. The final quest I was lvl 23 when I did it which was 4 levels above and I even missed some area missions as I was itching to see the final showdown lol, least the mobs scaled to my level otherwise it would of been boring.

not to mention perks that shave time off of the clock.

Here's a tip: Tackle the bigger ones right before you sign off for the day/night.  They'll be done when you come back.  Think of them like making a pot roast in a slow cooker.  Set it and do other things (even with the console OFF).

So I would like to add my impression of the game. I've played for 20+ hours with a friend, and because I played previous games, and don't remember much of the lore, characters, so I decided to replay Origins and DA2 + the DLC that came out for those two games before committing to this one. And honestly, I wasn't very... satisfied with the Inquisition. It felt like a chore, nothing felt exciting and I didn't have a feeling of urgency, of an epic quest I was set upon - that feeling from the trailer, anyone knows what I'm saying? We played the PC version, that is to keep in mind, and even though I knew UI and gameplay mechanics were broken, only after playing Origins for a few hours now have I felt how bad it is. I remember using Tactical Camera the first time it shows itself to you in Inquisition. So we started moving the mouse realizing it's not the way it moves, so we pressed buttons nothing, then we actually read what it said and used buttons it says Q E or however it goes. It is so sloooow and agonizingly bad, not precise, moves into mountains, I just ended up saying just cancel tactical camera please I can't see anything. Then the potions, why only 8? I really don't get it. Make it an option to turn on/off for those seeking a challenge, but not for me, I'm not that good at this game to have only 8 potions - actually, I remember moving to camp every time I need more, then going back where I stopped, then back again - hacking the system in a dull way. Then only 8 places for talents, not being allowed to put attribute points where you want to (??), and so on. As far as the story goes, I didn't really connect to the Inquisitor, but then again it may be because we played for a short amount of time. Also, someone mentioned looking at the map almost cursing how many quest markers and stuff there is? Yeah, I feel you. Looking at all those astrariums, shards, etc. I felt like Ezio collecting feathers in AC2. So boring. And I dislike the conversation system, when you start a conversation I mean, and it moves up camera in a lower angle, once Solas was standing in front of the NPC THE WHOLE CONVERSATION. SRSLY? MOOOVEE. Aghhhh. Just, needed to share my opinions. :(

Didn't the "pre alpha footage" disclaimer kind of speak for itself?

I think dishonest is really stretching it. They can't really do more than tell people that what there seeing isn't final and everything is subject to change - and they did. They didn't put that mission or elude to a similar idea in any of their actual advertising or interviews.

And yet at some point they knew that information which had led to consumers making purchases was not factual. Alpha/Beta disclaimers are a poor excuse for publishers getting to ride hype to major bucks. They are responsible for the information distributed and their product's reception in the public. They chose not to correct the record because they knew those were popular moments--popular enough to drive people out to make pre-orders.

Dishonesty is what it is when someone willfully misrepresents their product to consumers.

I did one playthrough of 75 hours and won't be doing another. I played on PC with a controller. Towards the end of the main quest I just wanted to rush and get it over with. I killed all 10 dragons and explored most of all of the lands. I enjoyed crafting, but found most other areas of the game to be unengaging. I don't look back on my experience with fond feelings. If anything, I look back at a game that had tons of potential and only lived up to around 50% of it.

On a side note, this was my first DA game 'proper'. I had played 12 hours of DA:O one year ago but gave up as I found it a bit underwhelming. However, since finishing DA:I I've restarted DA:O and am enjoying it a lot more. It is better than DA:I in the ways that matter.

They knew that a pre-alpha unofficial release filmed by some dude on his smart phone led to consumers purchasing the game?  That's patently ridiculous.  The sort of person who was following DA:I that early on, and who cared about that video, was going to buy the game anyway.  The notion that that sort of pre-release stuff drives sales is asinine.  That stuff is really service to the fans they already have (who are, almost by definition, going to buy the game anyway).  If you're trying to parody the stereotypical immature entitled gamer, then you're doing a bang up job.  If not, then you sir are the reason we can't have nice things.  The next time a fan complains about not getting more content about a Bioware game still in development, I'll point them to this post so they can come yell impotently at your avatar.

Or like expecting a BMW, but getting a beat up Ricer from 1991 but with a new shiny pearl paint (meaning the pretty but empty maps ).

I guess I enjoy the 91 ricer. :P

I'll agree with most of this.

Except if they remove 75% of the side quests and exploration the forums would be aflame with how "linear" it is.

Most if not all the people(I'm not speaking for everyone btw, just what I've noticed on these forums) myself included were unhappy with the game received not being the game that was shown at E3 and various other Gaming Conventions.

Yes you can argue "Well that was an Alpha build, things can change blah blah blah". But to me what they showed was a completely different take on the game we recieved.

Bioware has always done this. They cut the actual gameplay from ME1. The original ME1 actually played a lot like DAI.

It wasn't part of their marketing. It was a gameplay demo shown to a small audience more than a year before the game released, with ideas of what they wanted to do. Things changed. They removed the ideas because reasons. This kind of thing happens all the bloody time in game development. They slapped a nice, fat ''Subject to change'' label on something that wasn't intended to be seen by the general public, but was leaked online by someone with a smartphone. To say that they dishonestly used this to drive up pre-orders is so far gone from reality as to be absurd.

This will also only encourage devs to just stay tight-lipped about everything until they are completely certain that it's going to be in the game. Which will have people complain that Bioware is only giving info 1-2 months ahead of release anyway.

Ataashi - Qunari. Beat DA:I, joined Mages, romance Bull. Rift Mage. Love it.

Jaime Trevelyan - 15% done, joins Templars, soon romancing Cass. Templar. Love it.

Marcus Trevelyan - 0%, can't make him due to F***ing worthless, piece of vashedan, hackers crashing XBL/PSN. But, joins Mages, will romance Dorian. Necromancer. Unsure.

4th is an Elf KE, but haven't thought him up yet.

All in all, I F***ing LOVE DA:I.

I'm at currently at level 20 with my femquisitor on my 5th playthrough. Up to this point, I've played about 450 hours. Not bad. Enjoy the game. After this playthrough, I will take a break from the game and play some ME for a while before starting another DAI playthrough.

I disagree but it's true that mages suck compared to rogues and warriors. After 3 playthroughs with each class, i hate what nerf hammer did to mages.

Gave up after about 50 hours.  I just couldn't bring myself to play it anymore, most of those 50 odd hours were forced.  It's so terribly boring, which is unbelievable for a Bioware game I know.  What pains me is that I never even got to finish the game, not once, again, unbelievable.

This, for me is the biggest gaming black mark of 2014.  I will never forget it, and for all the wrong reasons.  Bioware is now dead for me.  It's a shame they couldn't have gone out on a good note.

I can't agree. As a KE I'm both impossible to kill AND I can do damage on par with the Reaver. Mages are not as OP as DAO but IMO are stronger than in DA2.

I should be surprised by this sort of pettiness, but who am I kidding?

I implied it wasn't such a big deal by saying last straw. It's just one of the many little things that made this game such a mess for me

On my very original test play (not canon), I was a KE and can vouch for it surviving. Hell Blackwall and my KE soloed a Lv19 Dragon, while Solas, and Varric were face down.
