Compare Recipe/Schematic to Gear?

Is there a way to compare a recipe/schematic to an already equipped item without having to craft from the recipe first?  Going into inventory and viewing the recipe/schematic doesn't give any type of base stats for the item that can be created.  I do not want to waste materials to create something and find out what my character already has is better.

TIA

When taken to the Crafting table, one may look to see the possible armor rating or DPS of the possible schematic, and can go thru the crafting components while using the table to get an idea of the final results.

Is there any way to see the stats of an item schematic before you buy it from a shop? Maybe I'm an idiot but I haven't seen a way to do this.

I've never found any way to do it. You can sort of guess at it via tier.

As mentioned, the Items place a display on the Crafting station so ones knows what the final totals will become. At least it does in my game.

Stats of any schematic vary on the quality and amount of the crafting materials.  A level 1 schematic can utilize level 1, 2 or 3 cloth/leather/metals, so the final stats of any schematic can vary widely.  There is no "base stat" of any given schematic that I know of.  It also depends on what "slot" you place the materials in, defensive, offensive, ect.  The crafting station will show you the various results before you click the "confirm changes" button.  As far as on-screen comparisons of weapons & armor already equipped, you won't be able to do that until the item is created and you go into the inventory and compare the created item to all companions equipment.  For example, if you're creating a new mage armor, look at what all your mages are wearing before going into the crafting table.  I generally do one type of equipment at a time so I don't confuse myself.  Armor & weapon crafting is a great way to add stats to your characters.

No because it changes depending on the matts you use to make it.

Unfortunately, there is not. A tool tip displaying would of been very useful here especially when looking to buy a schematic. You should not have to guess if it may be better then what you have currently equipped. Hopefully this is addressed in the patch.

It does that when crafting too, but when you select something to craft it still shows you a range of stats. I want to see this to know if it's better than what I have or can make already before I buy it.
