I'm baffled you can't judge her and Alexius. I just. Booo.

If I could judge her I might actually be tempted to side with the mages. But I can't and letting her get off scot free is bleh.

Yes. I would rather be able to judge Fiona than Alexius. Alexius' judgment only allowed the player to take a side on the question of what to do with Alexius, which is essentially the same "enemy captive" question addressed in the Servis judgment with a bit more personal meaning; a Fiona judgment might have allowed the player roleplaying opportunity to discuss her thoughts on the entire mage-templar war.

HOW STUPID ARE YOU KNIFE EAR?

No, she's just stupid. Dragging racial slurs into this won't make her any more or less dumb.

You do judge Alexius.  He's one of the few you can tranquil if you're a mage.  You can make him an agent under Leliana and you get a mission for him later than nets a pretty nice necklace, but knowing that he was the one who set up the Ocularum in the game...I'd be tempted to Tranquil him.  Personally, I think making him outlive his son is far crueler.  Decisions...decisions...

Well, that's just downright evil.   I kinda feel pity for him since his misguided love for his son drove him to do this, but when you brought the issue about Tranquil and the Ocularum up...hmm...those Tranquils deserve justice.

Not going to lie, Erimond is the only person I wouldn't hesitate making him a Tranquil after what he's done. It takes manipulating the Wardens alone for me to hate him that much. It's beyond me why some people feel sorry for him though, since he has no redeeming quality at all.

Oh I meant as in both XD I know you can judge Alexius.

Also don't get me started grumbling on how you can only tranquil people if you're a mage.

But yeah it's also ridiculous you can't bring up the Ocularum. (Especially since you can bring up what the Knight Captain did if you find the papers proving he wasn't as innocent as he pretends to be).

it's terrible, because once he gets done making enough skulls (and you find a room full of a bunch on a shelf that's humming), he kicked all the tranquil out of Redcliffe Castle.

God, just thinking about it makes me want to punch Fiona.  She epic'ly failed her people over and over and didn't look after the most vulnerable of them.

Maybe next playthrough I will toss him in a dungeon and let him rot.  Killing him is too kind, and Tranquilling him removes his pain.  Making him an agent gives him some measure of usefulness and I just want him to rot and suffer.

My dilemma is that he's dangerous and knows time magic (even if only when a rifts open) but he could take the chance when cory opens it up again....

Where do you learn about the ocularum secret? Do you need to do the mage ally mission for that, or did I totally overlook it somewhere in Redcliffe village?

You don't need to do In Hushed Whispers or even visit Redcliffe tavern , just visit Redcliffe and check one of the house by the lake, near the dock and Connor (in case he's still alive in your world state). You'll need a companion who's rogue to unlock the door (unless you're one yourself), and voila! You'd just discover one of many dark secrets in DAI.

I'm very happy with DA:I's direction on this one.  So much time was spent in Origins framing the Mage plight.  It made me very sympathetic to the mages.

DA2 came along and, while I didn't feel an emotional investment with either side, I sided with the mages because of what I had seen in Origins.

Enter DA:I and it makes me re-examine previous experiences with the mages.

Orsino is a prime example.  He had NO REASON to resort to blood magic.  I had everything under control until that happened.  Douche.
The circle in Ferelden happened because of ONE mage.  So, it's not that I think ALL mages are dangerous.  It's the undeniable fact that it only takes ONE sour apple to spoil the whole lot of them.

I did side with the mages on my first play through, but now I'm playing as a Mage Inquisitor that doesn't have much faith in other Mages ability to control themselves.  She really wants to side with the mages, but feels that maybe the Templars should be heard instead of just assuming they're villainous.

For the last time, she wasn't mind controlled. She reveals that her decision to join Tevinter was her own when you talk to her in Skyhold. She wasn't enthralled and Alexius didn't use blood magic to influence her. Seriously, stop digging that cheap excuse to defend her or justify her action.

"Mages constantly found their way to us while we were there, stragglers, most of them strangers. I had no way of knowing some were actually Tevinter. They spread whispers, encouraged the talk of an alliance...and we were desperate. I'm not proud of our choice, but we were certain Templars were coming. It could have ended far worse."

Fiona is just being plain stupid and make a bad decision out of desperation, and she claim she didn't know that Alexius and his followers are actually Tevinter. Pardon me, but bullsh*t.

Despicable, yes. That is why I will probably never recruit the mages. They have legitimate grievances, but Fiona's behavior is just so beyond the pale from start to finish that I want nothing to do with her.

Looks exactly like the Geth with the reapers, and still people liked the Geth more than the Quarians. I do not understand all this hate for Fiona. Com'on, she's Alistar mother and was Duncan trusted friend. That alone is sufficient for me to convince myself to save her.

Team mage. Those sanctimonious templars can eat it. Honestly, DA has always claimed that mages are such a huge threat, but non-mages have always seemed just as dangerous! I mean, Samson and the Lord Seeker managed to destroy the Templar Order and the Seekers without the use of magic. Based on what the Envy demon shows the Inquisitor in the Fade, it seems like his "future" for the Inquisition is just as bad as Alexius's future. I think the "mages are oh so dangerous" talk is just Chantry rhetoric. You don't need magic to muck everything up, just power.

Except no.

The Geth didn't start anything the Geth were minding their business. The Quarians got a hard on for war and decided to start **** with the Reapers breathing down everyone's necks like idiots. The Mages did start by breaking free of the Chantry. And when it predictably blew up in their faces (because starting a war without a plan is dumb ) alot of them started crying and doing exactly what people feared they'd do in the first place like morons.

Imagine if we recruited the templars with Envy still leading them.

That's what having Fiona still being in charge of the mages feels like.

I'm serious.

I am not sure what is more terrifying. The pure cruelty and evil of Envy, or the sheer incompetence and idiocy of Fiona.

Orsino literally only did that because they were told they had to have another boss. You can even talk to varric about it in inquisition and say "that makes no sense."

No one should feel like they're being watched for the rest of their lives because they've been given a gift they didn't ask for.

If those people are unavoidably dangerous to others, even without malevolent intent, why not?
