I'm 35; I am too old and have been playing games for too long to put up with these ridiculous arguments. It's about time that the industry and people who play the games just bloody well grew up and took a collective look at themselves.

Wow, you are the same age as me!  I had suspected, but I wasn't sure.

I love how much content the LGBT community has in the eyes of a few.  Hmm, let's check out the direct LGBT+ content in this game that isn't in a romance:

Krem--Yeah, you don't have to talk to him or ask questions about him from Bull.  In fact, you can ignore that bit of dialogue all together in the Chargers introduction.  Skippable.   If you do decide to talk to Bull in the Chargers dialogue, that's about 1 minute.  If you talk to Krem, it's maybe 2-4 minutes worth of dialogue.

Dorian--His personal quest is the only time his sexuality directly comes up.  That's about...what, 10-15 minutes?

Briala/Celene--Talked for about 20 minutes off and on.

Sera--Mentions that she likes Qunari women.  Once.  A few times in banter, I think?  So, maybe about 5 minutes there.

Iron Bull--The only time he mentions other men is with Dorian.  That's only from party banter.  Skippable entirely.

We have a few quests where the NPCs aren't straight.  Mainly returning lost items like a ring.  So...maybe 10 minutes combined between those quests?

So, total, maybe about an hour, maybe 90 minutes of non-romance content in a game that can easily last 50-100 hours (depending upon the player.)  For romances, gay men have 2, lesbians have two, and straight men have two.  Straight men have exactly the same amount as every single other Dragon Age game.  Only this time, straight women have the most romances, if they roll as an elf.  Didn't like your options?  Too sodding bad.  There's always the next game.

Every time I see one of these threads, I keep wishing that folks would leave "ugly" and "mannish" and "pandering" at the door and just sodding state what they want.  Is it blonde hair, curves and green eyes?  Is it an Asari with purple skin?  I have honestly seen requests for a female Turian.  Do you like the Quarians?  Are you hoping that we can see them in the next game?  Is it short dark hair, a large bust and a tiny waist what you want?

We're all supposedly physical adults, or at least over 17.  You can state what you'd like without talking about airbrushed mods or calling existing characters ugly.

Especially since such things are subjective. Different people find different things attractive and different things unattractive. As you said, better to just state specifically what you as an individual wants.

Well, if people who are in the minority should be in less games, then there should be less white and less male characters in games too. After all, there are more women on the planet than men and more people of african, asian, latino, and/or middle eastern descent than people of caucasian descent. That can also apply to "aesthetically pleasing" people since they are a minority compared to the people who are "average".

Women are slightly less than men worldwide actually. Gender selective abortions in China and India are most like creating this disparity since it is in these two countries that the disparity is prominent. Unfortunately, the number of rapes are increasing especially in India. Also there are less women in war torn countries (casualties of war) and in the Mid-East.

What ???? Certainly not in DAI.

In ME maybe, but not in DA, just because of Gaider and because the DA team is full of this feminist and Sarkisian crap (which is nonsense), Gaider is even a friend of her.

As for the LBGT community I don't mind, really, lol of course you have the right to exist and to be represented we are not nazis lol, but imo they shouldn't have that much of content because they are a minority.

But what the next step ? In Resident Evil 7 Chris will have a bi or gay teamate because you guys need to be everywhere ? Or FF15 will be.... oh wait they are all gay in FF15, nevermind, I just mean you guys can't be in every game, you have to understand that.

When you want to include that kind of stuff it has to be at least logical, not just here for the sake to be here or for the marketing, and I have this feeling with DAI. Sorry.

Gaider wrote Morrigan and appeased the straight guys with a Witch Hunt DLC so they could reunite with her after she up and left them in the base game. Honestly, imo her romance was way better than the others, at least Kieran Mahariel (avatar) thinks so.

I think you are attacking Gaider unfairly. Read up on what the straight male writer Patrick Weekes said to those not liking so much lgbt content. He basically tells you if you don't like more transgenders in game or disagree with a transgender character's choices find another game.

Yet you are here and keep posting mocking people who disagree with you. So much for being 35.

There's mocking people who disagree with you on reasonably multifaceted issues, and there is making fun of tinfoil hat types claiming that a cabal of Feminists are secretly perpetrating a cultural genocide against penises in gaming.

You deserve all the derision you receive when you try making such arguments in a Bioware (game developer know for pushing more progressive social ideologies) forum instead of just playing DOA Beach Volleyball like your opinions indicate you should be doing.

I heard that just last year the world percentage actually tipped towards women over men. Granted this was by a small amount like 50.01% and could have changed since I last heard. But regardless, the worldwide percentage and even the gamer percentage of women doesn't match the percentage of characters so the goes against the argument being presented.

Ok, let's do this, time to be serious, I will spill the beans once and for all

I want a blonde female, with blue eyes, a biotic, kind of sexy, medium hairs, gentle personality etc etc. Since Kahlee Sanders I just can't stop dreaming about this, I can't sleep at this point, Bioware are torturing me :(

No seriously there is a big lack of blonde characters in Mass Effect.

Bioware (game developer know for pushing more progressive social ideologies)

Yeah more like pushing some stupid agendas because you re a friend of some of those bla bla bla (I won't name them at this point) and to use it as a marketing tool. "Breaking news on IGN" hey look at this amazing DAI trailer called "gays and lesb in DAI" looks awesome. Seriously...

You know what ? I m playing Life is Strange right now, I think it's a great game, amazing, and there is a lesb story in it between Chloe and Maxine (main character), you can kiss Chloe or not (I kissed her because I like her character, even if I m straight), you can clearly see that Chloe is at least bi, but I can tell you 2 things:

1: it's well done, really well done and it fits the game, can't say that much about Bioware.

2: Dotnod (the game dev) never used that as a marketing tool or never talked about it, I found this relationship in the game, it was a surprise, a good surprise because they did it to fit the story the story is about Maxine and Chloe, can't say that much about Bioware, Bioware will just throw this in the game to please some people.

See the difference ? Or maybe do you prefer to defend Bioware. Whatever.

Even though you do exaggerate I think I know what you mean (at least now)

I already posted this another thread:

I'm all for putting different sexualities etc. in a game (why not) but I would rather thats its done in a natural way and not forced (like Bioware does it)

it just comes off as preachy and heavy handed

Announcing their first "fully" gay character (like its some kind of achievement just include him in the game), then Dorians quest (loved the guy but didn't enjoy his quest at all it didn't feel like it belonged in the game)

And the worst is actually Krem, they changed their own lore (Quanri) and white washed them just so they could have a transexual character..
Not to mention the conversations with him its as if Bioware was speaking through him to the players

I hope Bioware won't listen to SJWs this time and make females attractive and romancable by straight man. Otherwise this game might be a failure like inquisition.

I wish I could live in a reality bubble where every successful game I didn't like was a failure...

Didn't play DAI but I think Cortez and Traynor are very well-written characters and their LGBT status is certainly not shoved down the player's throat or anything.

I don't even understand why they said that. Steve Cortez was Bioware's first fully gay character.

Did Bioware even announce that? If I recall correctly it was just a story gaming websites picked up after Dorian's character was revealed and David Gaider mentioned he was gay in his writer interview. I don't remember any sort of "announcement" on Bioware's part.

Exactly, between crafting a story around "it" in a natural way (like in Life is Strange) and throwing the stuff just for the sake of throwing it aka "checklist style" there's a big difference.

In my opinion ME3 was even worse in that aspect with Cortez constantly harrassing you during the dialogues "hey Shep I m gay !!! I m gay bro !!! And alone too !!! You re nice Shep !!!! I m telling you I m gay dammit please love me !!!" I was like "Ok ok !!!! I know you re gay, fine !!! Can we talk about something else for a change ????!!!!.

Basically that's bad writing and forcing stuff on you.

And that's my main problem with Bioware. Sometimes I just want to say "f**** you Bioware, who do you think you are ? My mother ? My father ? God ?".

Seriously they are here to make good videogames not to "educate" people or make some propaganda, I think they shouldn't cross that border, could be very dangerous.

I agree with you. There should be female love interests with hair color other than black or dark brown. The only ones who have had different hair colors in both franchises are Leliana and Kelly Chambers who were both redheads. Sera was the only blonde female love interest in either franchise and she was available exclusively to women.

But they look like movie stars in Final Fantasy, or even Persona or Xenoblade or The Witcher, and everyone is happy. Where is the problem with that ?

I have enough of realism everyday in my life seeing ugly chicks and guys, I don't want it in my games, games and movies are made to make us dream.

And maybe you re saying it's ok, it's not a problem for you but a lot of people are complaining about the chara design in DAI, so there is a problem, we hadn't this debate with DAO, ME1, ME2 or ME3 people weren't complaining, but they complain for DAI because there is a problem even if some people here will deny it.

Maybe you should go back and look at everyone in DA:O and DA2 because when I go back and look at them (thanks to people in one of the DA:I threads posting screenies from current playthroughs of DA:O and DA2) those characters look cruder and more artificial in comparison to the current characters.

As for who is complaining about the DA:I characters, it seems like an awful lot of it is coming from what appear to be guys who want every woman in a game to be a sex kitten (particularly their LIs). I like a certain amount of realism in my games with a fairly realistic representation of humanity. I have nothing against the idea of having a number of hot characters in a game (again, being a female here, I do like hot guys) - it's just that it seems a bit silly to try to demand/force the designers to make every single character in the game (LIs included) into supermodels because random guy x doesn't like seeing anyone who is less than a 10 in their game.

And frankly, someone like the OP who claims that all the companions are ugly is making a spurious claim, in my opinion (even taking into consideration subjective standards of beauty). Now as far as FF games go, there's obviously the anime aesthetic at work - which is perfectly fine, because (see my avatar) I like anime. I can appreciate that aesthetic when playing a more traditional JRPG (and I have played quite a few). However, it's clear that DA games and ME games are shooting for maximum realism - maximum realism, unfortunately, means that not everyone is pretty.

For my part, I don't think someone like Zaeed would have worked if he were prettified FF-style. He needed those scars and that messed-up face for me to believe that his character was a grizzled, dangerous mercenary who has been through a lot of s---. If Zaeed had been as handsome as Sephiroth, I don't think that I would have taken him terribly seriously in his role.

We should've been able to romance Kahlee Sanders.

Anderson: Shepard, I heard you and Sanders...

Shepard: Yeah, well. Shoulda come with me.

Anderson: Well, I uh…better go check on the resistance.

Shepard: Roger that. Shepard [Anderson disconnects]

Hell no, not twice, 3 or 4 time trust me. Good writing would be: first time you talk with him having an option to say "great, great man I like you you re a good guy but I m not gay so let's leave it here" and all the dialogues after that would be I don't know about his opinion on the Reapers, Earth, the Alliance or whatever else. But no !!! He keeps babbling about the fact he's gay and about his dead boyfriend lol :D

I like Cortez, he's a fine character but he's kinda forced on you.
