I hope the NPCs in MEWhatever are as "ugly" as they are in Inquisition.
I hope ME 4's NPC's don't look ugly like in Dragon Age Inquisition

Sadly this is what people are expecting when it comes to female companions.
A ridiculous exaggeration (of course I expect nothing less than a straw man argument from those that preach that women in video games shouldn't be too attractive... no doubt they will all have to be overweight next).

I think it's not about "not too attractive", just about a realistic characters instead of just walking wanking material.

That hardly qualifies for a strawman. In truth attractiveness is a matter of opinion. For example, I and many others find the women of DAI to be fairly attractive. Some people are expecting sexed up females in form fitting clothes with makeup. We got a lot of that in ME2/3, and to be quite honest it was unrealistic. Honestly I just don't see why people find Josephine/Cassandra unattractive. Sure one has a mole, and another a scar with short hair. No one is perfect, and there's more to a character or person than their physical appearance.

It qualifies as a straw man because you take the point and exaggerate it so it's easier to argue against. Who was arguing for bikini mail in this thread (or any other I have seen). Just because a woman is beautiful doesn't mean she is useless and beautiful women do exist in real life... and this is a FANTASY game so it doesn't need gritty realism. Form fitting clothes can be functional and I really think the women in ME2/ME3 where just fine (except for maybe EDI and a tendency to give all women rather large breasts). I think Cas and Josephine where distinctly average and that was a deliberate policy to appease feminist critics (and I don't think I am alone in that view).

Sounds like a personal issue to me.

I have no clue who designs custom NPCs at Bioware but they always do a shittier job than half their playerbase. They make their characters look retarded. Important figures like Father Roderick and Mother Giselle in DA:I for example, look hideous and deformed, but they have so much screentime it's baffling.
Even so, it was even worse in Mass Effect. I have no idea how the guys at Bioware using their own intuitive character creator to make important characters can be so aesthetically clueless.
EDIT: I Just realized this is another idiotic "The females are ugly" thread. Get over it. I think Cassandra is hot, just like Sera and anyhow Bioware games really should stop being all about sex and romance.

I think Sera is butt ugly, but I don't find that objectionable. It's about time we get an ugly companion. As to the others, I think they are all pretty nice looking. They are far above average across the board. Iron Bull is a bit odd, in a way, because of his ridiculous proportions. Yet, he's also one of the race with which we are least familiar; so it's slightly less ridiculous I guess.

From what I can tell, these been quite a bit of buzz around this on the interwebz. Hopefully BW notices this and makes improvements for the next ME game. I have hopes that they will.
Now, I haven't played DA:I and I have no plans to, but I have seen YT videos and read articles online about this.

I'll never understand people asking for "attractive" NPC's or romance options. Oddly enough not every woman looks like a Victoria Secret's model and not every man is a demi-god with biceps bigger then Bournemouth.
It's subjective, while true there are people which most will happily agree on being "attractive" but does it matter?
I always thought that games where about a good story, solid gameplay and immersion. Which means not just interesting but believable characters which haven't been stole from the front page of Vogue but maybe I'm just being a silly and every other character should be a human aphrodite.
I can understand people wanting good looking companions/advisers but would you not rather have an intriguing character with good writing and an actual personality instead? Ah well, I just hope the NPC's hair doesn't look like it was glued onto their head.

The problem I have with Sera's somewhat ugly face is that her character card makes her seem like a sexy renegade. Also, am I crazy or do an absurd amount of women in DAI have three moles/dots on the right side of their mouthes?
I don't really care about how NPCs look (and I'd like to see if Bioware could design an 'ugly' turian) as long as it doesn't seem like Bioware's trying to push an agenda. Also, this is the future; the people we meet in positions of authority should have the resources to easily beautify themselves.
Off subject, the Banshees are pretty hot once you throw a paper bag over their face.
They're beautiful once they stop screaming.

I hope, in ME4, we don't have companions running around in heels, with giant boob windows and catsuits. DAI did it right and I hope ME4 is similar.
At least one squadmate should look like this:

I don't think it's all about 'walking wanking material', although I wouldn't mind seeing a grand cleric dancer of some sort since some of them are healers, lol. Reminds me of the the all female, asari vixens and I'm sure they had dancers during those times, even if it is a medieval fantasy world.
Anyone who has played ME or previous DA games, can clearly see, the influence from past demands from some LGBTQ community players and feminists gamers, had on the art direction for DAI's NPC's. Why else would Bioware make a big, pointless announcement about the 'genderless' hero on cover art for DAI unless they were trying to appease or satisfy a particular group of people.
Almost everyone makes a big deal about 1080p, games being locked at 30 fps, frame rate this, draw distance that. Bottom line, we shouldn't be looking at PS2 quality of NPC's at this point in gaming. Especially when we've seen what Bioware is capable of doing in past games.

It doesn't it matters if they are all ugly (actually ugly is unfair on DAI just not attractive)
I'm not sure about you guys, but I played the other Dragon age games, and the NPCs are amazing looking in comparison. I don't know what you're talking about them being ugly. I like them a lot. If mass effect next has similar details then I'll be happy.
I would agree for DAO and DA2 its DAI that is disappointing

If average looking characters are a policy to appease some party then there is something wrong with the "norm" in the first place.
Even more so in a game that is not aimed at masturbating adolescents.
