Meh, no character, no flair.

Same face, same body. Different hair color.

I'm not trying to say that the characters in DA:I had character. Hell, the only person I thought that had character was Serah... And that's 'cause she caused hell and ruckus throughout. But what I am trying to say is that each character looked different. Now, I dunno if each woman in TW3 looked the same, but based on the pictures that're shown above, I'm not holding out much hope.

EDIT : I mean, sure... They're attractive. But like I said in a previous post, everyone's not attractive.

I thought the beauty is supposed to be on the inside? So you determine if someone
has character based on their looks?

There is something about this face that makes me unbelievably aggressive every time I see it. It just looks so wrong. I don't know why. I need to go smash something.

Your avatar just made this post even better.

So they look boring because the are actually beautiful lol some people here

So you think beautiful people can't look boring? There's nothing special or interesitng about their looks, they're beautiful in a rather generic way and that's it. Cassandra or Josephine have a more interesting character design while still being beautiful women.

If by more interesting character design you mean unattractive then I guess you are right

They just pale in comparison with TW3's girls, hell lets stay in the same series, Leliana and Morrigan are on another level than those two

Nah, DAI's main female cast is perfect. They look good and they look unique. I hope Bioware stays on this path. TW ladies sure are pretty, but rather boring in comparison.

Well I hope not

Thankfully another Bioware team is developing ME4 so I have hopes that they will make the LI's attractive and not ugly like in DA:I

They don't even have to follow TW in that regard just follow DA:O
Leliana and Morrigan were both unique AND pretty apparently you can't have both

And of course the females get someone like Cullen, now as far as I know he is definitely considered to be very handsome

Wasn't it established in the books that Yennefer looked so pretty because she was a freaking sorceress? She made herself look like that through magic; it's not very clever to pick her as an example of how female characters in bioware games should look. If you want that you'll get a bunch of look-alikes.

I mean look at Triss. She does not look exactly like Yen, that's not what I want to say. They're not clones, but I know a lot of people who don't know the franchise and thought that those two were sisters and that says something. If you swap their hairstyles and make-up they will look really similar.

Let BioWare handle their design choices themselves, threads like that are pretty unnecessary and especially shallow. Most of my female friends found every single male character in Mass Effect and DA:O ugly as hell, but I haven't seen them make threads about that.

If you want to be taken seriously you have to talk about every character in DA:I, not just the women. Have you guys even seen the majority of the cast? And you decided to complain about characters like Josephine? Really? What do you guys even think about characters like Blackwall, Cole or Solas? Why aren't you complainaing about that? Why is everybody so damn fixated on only making women look sexy, I'm so sick of this shallow thinking. You either talk about every gender or you kindly shut up.

There are so many games where women look like freaking barbies running around in catsuits. It's so refreshing to see a game where they look like people you actually know. A friend of mine has a jaw like Cassandra, another friend has a nose like Josephine. They're both very pretty and they were was so happy to see a character look like themselves and be attractive. It's kind of scary to see how rarely something like this is even happening and I think BioWare should stay on that path.

Someone is bitter

I can only talk about the females (primarily the LI's, I didn't care about Aveline either even though she was ugly as hell too) since I couldn't care less about the males and no I won't shut up (lol)

Its a game man why should they look like people one knows?

And like I said lets stay in the same series, Morrigan and Leliana look a lot better than Cassandra and Josephine

I just fail to see why they made the only two LI's so unattractive and medicore?

At least the females got Cullen

How the hell did you get 'bitter' from that well written post?
I'm not sure if you are deliberately going for a parody of a unreconstructed bellend, but you are doing a damn good job of it.

ME has definitly sexier NPC than DAI.

In DAI the only woman I find very attractive was Leliana tbh. Josephine was okish...Cassandra.......nope not at all..

This argument reminds me of the Last Action Hero movie

The point is, there are no unattractive women here.  I mean, where are the ordinary everyday women? They don't exist because *this* is a *movie*

While I agree with you, I do have to say that you walk into a dark corner when you brought up TW3.

People here seem to get VERY defensive of DAI in irrational ways whenever someone suggest that Bioware should take some features/ideas from TW3 and use in DA4.

I get what you mean, but majority of the demographic here wont.

Not trying to come off as a troll or a 'boobs and buns' gamer, but after seeing characters like Miranda, Tali, Samantha, Isabella, I was surprised at how ugly the majority of NPC's and party members are in DAI. Compared to Mass Effect 3, hell, even DA 2, they all look hideous for the most part with no sex appeal except for Vivienne and Leilianna. Even the characters on the race cards in DAI look better and more appealing than the actual characters themselves, especially in the dreaded multiplayer.

Well, this makes it obvious you're not judging their beauty by their faces.

Agreed with you and frankly this is something I really don't understand. TW proved you can create a sexy and feminine woman with strong character and in leading position.

Yennefer, Saskia, Philippa and many others....they certainly weren't the typical weak female stereotype. IMO what BW needs to understand is that a masculine looking woman doesn't equate to a strong woman.

I agree completely sadly some fans here seem to think the same

They also think that beautiful characters = boring and generic

And unattractive  = unique and special

Its quite silly

Kind of a random thought here, but seeing this picture of Morrigan I was reminded of the DAI announcement trailer. One narrated by her and in which she appear. And her hair moved, and was great looking.

WHERE DID IT GO? WHERE DID IT GO YOU ANSWER ME BIOWARE!

What you somehow consistently manage to miss is the fact that most "attractive" women in games look alike. They are all designed with the same aesthetic. Put a different hairstyle / outfit / eye color on it, and another "unique" character emerges. That's what makes it boring and predictable.

The Witcher 3 definitely handled hair better. It also has better options for the main character, despite there being only six of them or so. DA:I has more options in its CC, but there are maybe only two per gender that don't look awful.

Well, this makes it obvious you're not judging their beauty by their faces.

they should just put all the female characters in helmets at all times then pick an image of a model off of getty for them, and OP would be happy. Saves modeling/ mocap/ face scanning time as well :D

Frankly, It's a bit odd that OP can apparently stomach purplish, doglegged trydactyly women with glowing eyes and wires sticking out of their skin, or hairless blue ones with scales and tentacles on their heads and necks, but not ones with short hair or whatever.

She retains the characteristics but c'mon:

CassandraPentaghast.pngphoto.jpg

That bulky jaw wasn't one of her features in DA2.

Personally I think the picture on the right looks great, but just the same, DA2's character creation left much to be desired in terms of creating actual distinctive faces, and Cassandra was clearly something whipped up quickly in the CC, rather than being a more specialized appearance like the companions were, because you can find NPC's here and there that have very similar facial features, just with different hair, skin tones and makeup, and that's putting aside the total lack of any real texture. The only thing truly distinctive about her in DA2 is her voice and personality, and little else. In any case, it seems to me like a very pronounced jaw was part of her design even then, when looking at her from different angles, though she's often just looking down at Varric. But, at least no one's really dragging the anime back into this comparison, because anime ain't good for jack for these sorts of comparisons.

As far as ME NPC's go, I think people have a very funny memory of what your basic characters looked like in the game. Sure, there's companions, but most NPC's throughout the trilogy, let alone a single game, looked pretty rough, especially the men.

Mother Giselle's got nothing on this adonis.
