Its even worse for Qunari warriors.
Seems to me your describing Battlemaster Armor, that one more roguish in style but definitely works better for 2 handed warrior imo
BM Mail is what your looking for but actually finding it is the real issue so good luck or just kill the 1st Dragon in Emprise Du Lion he drops a good version of it
I don't think the Battlemaster armor look works for anyone.. I do not get how anyone can stand looking like the inquisitions butler with that tail coat thing...
I have been very sad to see how horrible are the heavy armor in this game.. Battlemaster Armor/Mail doesn't look like a real heavy armor. My human (man) warrior look simply stupid, he seems like a rogue or maybe like a woman warrior. Anyone that have equipped sturdy battlemaster coat can please link a pic to see if this armor look better? Thanks!.
SUPERIOR Battlemaster Coat.

SUPERIOR Battlemaster Coat.
OMG...... this looks ridicule.... What I can't understand is how is possible that tier 2 and even tier 1 armors look more robust and heavier than tier 3 armors. This really annoy me.
How is possible that Bioware call this "Heavy Armor":
http://www.google.es...start=0&ndsp=34
It's absurd.
WTF Bioware.... My warrior should look like Blackwall/Cullen, not like a Fu..ing rogue!!!
Calm down a little.
There are 3 major styles for Tier 3 Armor: Battlemaster Coat (full coat), Battlemaster Armor (half coat, falt plate) and Battlemaster Mail: (Full Plate and Chainmail).
This is what a Battlemaster Mail Set Looks Like:

Here are some more images. I do not know what the superior battlemaster mail looks like, I have never found it.. The sturdy version however removes the chainmail undershirt and instead has the leather hauberk and scarf.. not sure whose idea that was..
And clearly you and I have different tastes.. I love the [trench] coat look on my Rogue Qunari.. I also quite like the [scale] Mail look.. I seriously hate the butler waist coat look though.. needs to burn in the fires of hades.

Yes then you realise than the sturdy battlemaster mail looks horrible:

Hopefully someone with the superior Battlemaster Mail will come along and post a picture.. hopefully it is more like the base T3 mail and not the upgraded.
Battlemaster Mail has that recurring scale mail coat under the Metal Plates.
Sturdy and Superior Battlemaster Mail have a Leather Doublet instead of a scale mail coat. They look the same.
Bioware remove scale mail coat in a "Heavier" armor, I don't really undertand their logic.
This is a warrior:

And this is a joke:

In my experience the Templar Armor doesn't look terrible.
That said sadly it's not available for Qunari.

I too wish my guy could look like Blackwall. I can't stand most of the looks of the inquisitor.
It's a matter of taste. I like the Superior Battlemaster Mail with Battlemaster arms and legs. It looks fairly practical, mixing scale/chain and plate with leather padding. I find the bulky massive armors of DAO to be absurd and much prefer the styles of DA2 and DAI.
On that note though the Superior Battlemaster Armor is just silly; I like the Inquisition symbol being emblazoned on the chest but thats about it. The Coat I sort of justify as being a stylish outfit concealing armor in Orlesian fashion. Like it has the obvious mail reinforced with hidden plate hard points, leather, etc etc. And it looks good unlike the Armor which is... ugh.
But I have always favored practicality in my gear. One thing that does bother me though is how the inquisitor's armor variants just seem a bit more... modern than those of others. Like there was steampunk or renaissance inspirations relative the the generally medieval style of other characters. It looks fine in my opinion it just sort of clashes a bit.
I really like the Warden Warrior Armor and it's pretty decent. Sure, you lose armor rating, but it has utility stats on it, which the Battlemaster Mail armor doesn't have.
Still, it would be nice to see something as detailed/ornated as the warden armor for the inquisition theme with similar stats as the battlemaster versions.
I respectfully disagree, always thought the longcoats were awesome. Too many games have warriors walking around like shiny tin cans toward the end. Besides, there are still several outfits that look like what you describe, i.e. lots of plate.
We need the Massive armor look from DAO, the likes of Dragonbone and Juggernaught imo.
Totally agree. While it's nice to have a very specific aesthetic for the Inquisitor I would definitely prefer the option for suits of propper Plate Armour. This was so common in DAO and DA2 re-used several heavy armours.
In my opinion we need more variation in the armour, period.
It makes very little sense for a Qunari Warrior (even as a non-Qun mercenary) to be wearing any of the current PC armours, for example when most Qunari we have encountered in the series either opt for full Heavy Plate armour or fighting bare chested. The Inquisitor armours do not match either of those.
most of the Qunari we have run into in the series so far aren't necessarily a good basis for what the PC might wear as a Qunari.
Almost if not all of the Qunari we have encountered to date are of two types. They are either part of the Qun and what they do and wear is dictated by that. Or they are direct deserters from the Qun in which case. Their manner of dress and behavior are still all basically dictated by the Qun. The Few that we get to speak to even amongst the Tal-Vashoth are still acting by what the Qun says they must be.
However. Our PC is an interesting new dynamic we never get to see in the game. They are Vashoth. They are those that never lived under the Qun and their minds and desires aren't driven by it.
As for the shining tin can look. That's more of a romanticized version of plate armour. Most of it was a mix of the plates and chain, and/or leather in various layers and covering various gaps and articulation points. So the DAI heavy armours aren't that far fetched. Although the leather trench coat covering it is definitely more of a idealized thing but could certain happen in period rpg's...
Its even worse for Qunari warriors.
the word for that is "pitiful"
I know that Bioware has pretty dramatically reshaped the visual aesthetic of the Qunari since Origins, but back then every example of Qunaris wore heavy plate armour. Mercenaries out in the wild. Mercenaries encountered in a Denerim Tavern. The rest of Sten's company in his Fade Dream. All of them.
It just seems weird that there is no full plate option for a Qunari Inquisitor.

I think it was an option once. But after they looked at Iron Bull, whooping up 300+ armor rating with a t3 mastercraft by simply strapping a leather string across chest and a trashcan lid on shoulder and a moderately large tablecloth around waist.. They realized that would give you more armor rating than a small army combined. Thus all armor was heavily dearmorized and real protection was bestowed in cloth and leather and nothingness.. Oh or more likely.. EA happened.. again.
Makes sense, no?
