In honor of Festivus, I wish to air my grievance with Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The single most frustrating part of this game for me is -- THE SPECIALIZATION QUESTS!

I have just roamed the Exalted Plains for literally HOURS searching for a Champion to challenge. Finally found him but.

This was NOT FUN. This was frustrating, boring, annoying, and every other negative gerund you can think to attach. Who thought it would be fun to have us roam around the entire world of Thedas with no quest marker, no indication of where to find the idiots you're supposed to conquer, best, destroy, eliminate, etc.?

Even if you have the Game Guide - the teeny-tiny, unmarked maps with their fuzzy graphics and muddy colors, are almost useless.

This was obviously not a glitch, but for me it is the single most disappointing part of this game. AT THE VERY LEAST - Please give us quest markers.

Guys, next time, think of something else that might actually be fun to do.

I don't mind having specialization quests, but the ones offered weren't particularly interesting. Like with much of the game, I would've hoped for something more scripted and unique. Fetching items and grinding to fetch even more items aren't really going to blow me away in terms of quest design.

My biggest issue is the lack of interesting side quests as a whole. The Main Quest is godlike, and the exploration in the side quest areas are great, but it's in need of more depth. You'll get a neat one every once in a while, though.

Bad lip synching.

I can live with the minor bugs I have experienced, but the gawd awful lip synching in cut scenes is definitely the most frustrating thing for me.

There is no single most frustrating for me... there are so many frustration.

1. Electric Mage... they periodically release discharge that hits targets in range. More often than not, they will hit those darn deer/antelope. Those buggers will run circles around me and force me to kill them because instead of running away, the will run and circle back to put my party in combat mode... made me miss Hawke's conversation in Crestwood... darn it. And as a warrior, unless I switch to control a range character.. they are just annoying as hell!!! Grrrr

2. Pebbles on the ground, heck even Elfroots. They can block movement, they can even bock "Charging Bull". Right... I was stopped by a pebble or plant and stop like a feet away from my target Grrrrr!!!!

3. Daggers. Those freaking dagger and the freaking clear bias Bioware has for daggers. So many freaking daggers and dagger schematics. Grrrr....

4. Bioware and their pink fetish with so many pinkish T3 stones that made me look like pink panther if I am shameless enough to use it. Grrr....

5. Stupid companions who gets hurt (falling damage) simply by walking around... Grrr....

and much more....

Mine is all encompassing: we were told this would be like Origins and it's nothing like it. It's just a crappy action rpg single player mmo.

Crafting, all good loking weapons and armour seem to be weak or low level compared to higher level end game weapons, also hate getting unique purple items which are worse than my gear I already have, especially after defeating a dragon or big boss. Oh and Qunaris having lack of decent armour. Ok thats 3

I can't decide if the lack of ability to level your Character Attributes or the lack of immersion in the War room bugs me the most.

On one hand I feel like the focus on crafting vs character building is a major mistake.  But I can get by with just crafting, I'd just prefer the other way.

On the other I feel like the war table is a crucial part of the game, but when I'm in there it just feels like complete all the blinky lights.  I feel like its completely random and there is no real sense of direction in terms of where I've been or going.  It completely makes my mission selection feel shallow.

The limited number of side quests that have RP potential via dialogue or any sort of varied outcome.

And the atrocious hair styles.

Then it's just like origins. That was the criticism even prelease. Regenerative health and mana, cooldowns instead of Vancian casting, no perma death, warrior and rogue "abilities" based on a stamina casting pool, gear with statistic requirements, etc. All MMO/WOW features.

Love the game overall... but if we are being picky then:

  • bad hairstyles
  • no storage
  • jump/pick up button should be different buttons - i jump too much when I want to pick up LOL
  • Cullen has a lot of strange movements - he sways and has his neck to the side, weird.
  • Bad outfits (pants to a ball, PJs to at Skyhold)

Removal of tactics for me as well. It makes even less sense when they're pushing the action combat angle, because there's no benefit from having three other members of your party act like total idiots while you're supposedly having fun pressing the buttons for your guy/gal. If they could be even half competent, that'd be a win no matter which mode you play.

Runner up: tactical camera locked down too low and without ability to adjust the height and/or angle.

Combat and generic quests. If I wanted to play an MMO, I'd be playing WoW or Guild Wars 2.

I swear, the combat in DAII on PC was better than this abomination.

My greatest grievance is the (frankly, idiotic!) decision to remove combat tactics from the game.

I shouldn't have to hope that Solas casts barrier on a party member who actually needs it; I should be able to instruct him to cast it on Cassandra as soon as she starts to take damage, or on any ally whose health has fallen below a certain threshold.

I shouldn't have to pause combat and manually cycle through my ranged characters to tell them to run away from a towering barbarian who's chopping them to shreds with a rusty battleaxe; I should be able to set their behaviours to "ranged" so that they use some common sense and keep their damn distance.

I shouldn't have to micromanage individuals or "disengage" from combat to get my party to move as a group; I should be able to select all companions and order them to move to a point -- an ability that I find invaluable for positioning my troops before battle and for escaping particularly deadly AoE spells.

In short, I should be able to control my party with as much precision as I could in previous Dragon Age games.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that approximately no people, ever, complained about the tactical options present in DA1 and 2. And so we all naively assumed that BioWare wouldn't remove a feature that works perfectly.

I sort of complained. But only because it was really hard to fully disable tactics in DA2 to micromanage. :P

I do agree with you in full. Especially since Bioware wants more action combat.

That the Inquisitor really only has three non-faction armors available to wear, regardless of class; the jerkin/duster, the leather jacket and cummerbund and the scale mail.

Even the ME2 team, when they decided to make the N7 armor iconic, didn't straight jacket Shepard's look this badly.

The glitches/bugs/things that don't work. Plain and simple.

I could whine all day over what developers choose to include/not include in their games. At the end, I'll just be complaining about creative decisions, which is a wholely different issue.

What I do expect--and what we deserve--is a product to work as intended, regardless of creative choices. If you put an ability in the game, I expect that ability to work in the manner that you and the game says it should work. I expect technical flaws to be fixed ASAP before any DLC is even advertised, apologies to be made, and an effort to prioritize bugs and issues over defending any creative choices or poorly timed advertisements.

We all learned in high school that when you complete an assignment, it must have proper formatting and be free of silly errors such as misspellings, bad margins, or terrible font choice. When you build a car, it must function completely, and not have the AC shut off randomly every 3 min. If you bought a movie on DVD and it refuses to play specific scenes and kicks you back to the menu, you would be refunded for a defective product.

I'm getting tired of developers trying to defend the errors in their products simply because "video games are harder to make." That excuse didn't work when you were a kid, didn't work on school, and won't work at your day job. Yet they shovel that **** to consumers on almost a daily basis.

Sorry this isn't singular, but they're all equally annoying to me

Female character in Val Royeaux getting ready for a masquerade ball...no gowns? no mask? NO SHOES???

The sound fades in and out plays only bass tones or starts post battle??? come on where's the patch (xbox 360)

why does my straight female character have to chase after any of these male romance options???

Why can't the straight male characters flirt? I love Dorian's flirtatious banter and i hate having to be a mommy character to the available options ..

Oohhh cullen(lyrium addict), bull (drunken fighter) blackwall(murderous liar), solas(spoiler) it's ok, it's not your fault, does it hurt, are you alright..does hims need a boo-boo bandaid??

Where is the charming intelligent romantic male character that will sweep my female inquisitor off her feet

I mean even if Zeveran was a bit annoying at least he made the effort.

The graphics could be cleaned up a bit. trees shouldn't grow starting 3 game feet off the ground or limbs grow out of rocks.

Maybe a double jump feature to  explore this "open" world

oh a few more ferelden locks lying around wouldn't hurt either

that's a bit more vitriolic than planned, but it was good for my gaming soul to write it out
