Didn't someone say they didn't want to do a female qunari romance because it was some weird fetish or something like that? In the thread about the dwarves, someone mentioned that one of the writers had said that.

(to Jaron Oberyn) I believe they said that they didn't want to do it just so people could romance one.

That means we'll be getting a Qunari female companion soon?

Bring her in, and find out her a Sera go at it, if you don't romance her. Alas, Bioware said "No DLC Companions." Something about a disc service.
Doesn't matter too much to Ataashi, he's taken by Bull. Can't say he'd deny a sister in arms.

We have nine companions already, plus three advisors. I suspect it was a simple matter of not having enough space or budget for another person.
We're not getting any DLC companions, according to various comments from Mike Laidlaw. Those tend to come out on release day or not at all, since it takes so much work to integrate them into the game.
Anyway, it's good to keep in mind that ALL games have lots of stuff that ends up on the cutting room floor. I am sad that a woman got cut, since the gender balance among the companions is so bad now
.
Actually the gender balance is pretty much on point for Dragon Age. Origins only had two female companions and Shale, who is technically female I guess, and 2 had four or three, depending on your choices and your siblings fate.
More interesting is the character itself, how complete is she? is it just a description and basic info, do we have a model? I think the degree of completeness would indicate how early or late she was cut.

I remember seeing that, but always kind of thought it was a bit hypocritical they would use that reason when they gave us Bull.

Those were my thoughts when I initially heard that as well lol. No big deal though.

Wynne, Leliana, Morrigan, and Shale? Origins had more than two female companions.

Seems like it could be a concept for a multiplayer character to me. Unless there's more info we haven't seen.

Well, I think that Bioware could actually use her in a "Origin DLC" where the Inquisitor has to deal with something about his/her family/clan/gang. Because I think that each of those groups would be incredibly interesting.

Or maybe she's in the inevitable DLC in a few months.

That's not quite accurate re: Origins. You have Morrigan, Leliana and Wynne plus Shale if you count her. There are five male humanoid companions and a male dog, so six to four.
Anyway, it doesn't actually make it better that the gender ratio is uneven in all three games. I'll stop complaining when we have parity. Or more female companions than male ones, to balance out every previous Dragon Age game. That doesn't seem like it's going to happen any time soon.
(To be clear: I think that BioWare does better at this stuff than almost any other game company, and that the women in the Dragon Age games are very strong, well-written characters. I also think that having two female advisors balances this out to some degree. That doesn't mean I'll stop asking for more female companions until it's actually 50/50.)

An NPC/temp companion like Leliana/Morrigan? Perhaps. But they've already stated they will not be having DLC companions.

Sounds suspiciously like a mix between Bull, Sera and Dorian. (Dorian because he rebels against Tevinter). While I would want a female Qunari companion, too many companions rebelling against their culture is a bit too much. Sera rebels against elves everything, Dorian rebels against his father and Tevinter, and Iron Bull while being in the Qun feels more Tal-Vashoth even before his personal quest.
I know we already had Sten as pro-Qun (and Tallis, but she was abomination so does not count), but maybe something more refreshing? Like a mage Qunari that is forced to leave Qun because Saarebas, or a female Qunari actually playing some weird role in the Qun. Basically anything but rebels.

I'll be honest I forgot about Wynne. So it had 3, four if you count Shale which is more technically than anything else.

Parity does not equate any form of quality or representation though, that's a fallacy in the end. I would argue it's a non-issue because of the quality of characterization that we have. Presuming a split-difference shows true equality, regardless of how its presented, is dangerous thinking. If it happens, it happens, but it shouldn't be forced at all I guess is my point.
This is not really here nor there in the end.

I think you miss Iron bull and part where we can play female and male qunari.

That statement was in reference to Day One companions (aka Sebastian and Shale). She could be a temporary companion in the same way that Tallis was, within a specific subplot.

It doesn't look like we can say definitely, based on the text that was posted, that Shokrakar was intended to be a companion - that seems to be speculation from the modders. It might be that only companions have this type of description, but unless anyone can confirm that we shouldn't assume that she was a cut companion as opposed to a quest NPC or something.
If so, though, I can see why this character might have been redundant with Iron Bull and Dorian already in the game. Yeah, it would be interesting to actually meet a non-player female qunari, but both devs and players would also want each companion to have a unique personality and style.

One thing not mentioned yet, perhaps a DLC character for multiplayer?

You know it's funny...I kind of imagine them re-working Origins and Dragon Age II like that to tighten it up...maybe add new level design and what not...
