I don't understand people who get angry over things like "Merry Christmas"
I rarely ever have good mornings, but that doesn't mean I lose my cool when someone greets me such.

To be fair the dude had just broken up with his girlfriend (forever alone), and he also has cancer. That's why he is on edge.

Nope. His behavior implies that he thinks everyone should follow the same line of thoughts that he has. I highly doubt that this kind of behavior would be a result of trauma.

But surely not all atheists are like him. Albert Einstein, Which also happens to be an atheist, Said that he considers the christmas to be a festival of peace. Even if you don't want to celebrate it, Then smile or nod or even ignore the greeting. But that kind of behavior is unacceptable.

It's poor form but I can see how it would happen. There's a lot of pressure to be happy at Christmas (suicides spike around this time of year) and if the guy just wasn't feeling very merry at the time (because his life blows), having people constantly rub the yule in your face might get a bit much.

I know not all atheists are like him. I'm just mocking the internet types (particular the ones from r/atheism) who share the same views as this man. I mean even other atheists mock these guys, they're just so ridiculous that it's funny.
The "euphoric atheist" meme came from A.A. Lewis who posted the now famous quote "In this moment I euphoric..." to r/atheism.

Albert Einstein was actually agnostic. He was perplexed by the extreme members within both theism and atheism.

Yes, But he wrote a letter about religion a short while before he died about the matter, About religion and Jewish community. Recommend you to see it, It's really thought-provoking.

Yes, his views on religion have been known for a long time. He made comments on both religion and atheism, both positive and negative.
Those comments in the comment section represent everything I'm talking about with the online atheist community though, they just post the most ridiculous of things, quote a few famous atheists, call belief "delusion" and believers "brain washed" and then claim an intellectual high ground.
"How is being a paranoid schizophrenic any different than having faith in a god?" ~ Commenter Carl_Crooks, unemployed self-professed intellectual and self-professed expert on human psychology and religion. (I bet he was tipping his fedora madly and gushing with glee after posting this comment)
I love how this guy compares faith in a god to paranoid schizophrenia, anyone who actually knows what paranoia and schizophrenia are wouldn't even compare them to theism (Plato and Aristotle would have laughed themselves to death if someone said "belief in a god is no different to paranoid schizophrenia" to them).
"If only we atheists wouldn't be downcast from society. If only you could see that there is nothing wrong with not believing in a Gawd. I am not a heathen. I am an individual that doesn't believe. You can believe anything you want, and so can I. THAT, is freedom!" ~ Commenter LittleGirl
>implying that I'm not free because I believe in God.
The second comment claims persecution where there isn't any, more cute is how she spells "God" as "Gawd" in a defiant act.
That's what the "euphoric atheist" meme mocks, this high egotism, narcissism and smug pseudo-intellectualism from this online community. It's not mocking all atheists (or atheism itself for that matter), honestly all of the atheists I've met in real life are nothing like these internet fools.

Agnosticism is a wide spectrum. You have agnostic theists and agnostic atheists, then you have many agnostics who lean towards no position thinking that either position could possible, finally you have another group of agnostics who say God's existence is unknowable completely and that it's really pointless to talk about (apathetic agnosticism).

I'm with you on this one, I approve. I have even tried to argue with one of these euphoric atheists before a long time ago, But He blocked me from his page right in the middle of the conversation, Saying that i was trolling him or something. These guys are really pathetic, I don't pay much attention to them.

A bit of both. I don't believe in a superior power, And I don't believe in organized religion, I find both of these two concepts to be unconvincing, But I'm open to all possibilities, I believe that Anything can happen. And that's the exact point i was discussing with the euphoric atheist. ![]()

Myself, I believe in "God" but I do not claim to know his characteristics. I neither pray to or worship God as I don't think God interacts with the world or universe or even desires our worship (I even debate whether there's an afterlife, the Sadducees believed in God but denied an afterlife and if a god exist, it doesn't necessarily have to follow that there's an afterlife, whilst I can argue for God's existence through philosophy, an afterlife is a theological matter). Whilst most of my philosophy comes from Jesus and Christian Saints, I do take bits from other religions and believe they all have their own truths.
I see God as simply the instigator, not a loving father or something that we as humans can relate to.
Although I'm open minded. I'm not claiming my beliefs as factual. God could be anything. For those who claim he answers their prayers, well that's their belief which they're entitled to, I hold nothing against them and if their "relationship" and worship of God makes them happy then so be it. Their prayers clearly have similar effects as meditation even if the prayer goes unanswered so I don't see their religious practice as futile even if I don't understand it.
Still, I use the label of Christian often even if other Christians see me as a heretic, deist, Unitarian Universalist, non-religious theist or whatever.

I'm agnostic but my idea of "God" is also different from most interpretations. I see "God" as just being some kind of powerful entity that was responsible for the creation of the universe in some fashion; a creator figure, if you will. No religious doctrines or ceremonies need apply.
I have no proof or real way of knowing such a being exists however, so I can't make that call and won't try to. Maybe we'll find out for sure one day.

And believe me, Contrary to the popular belief here about me, The thing i respect most is a respectful subjective opinion. You have your opinion, I have mine. I respect that. The purpose of debates is to dig deeper to find the truth, No matter what it is. However, Many of my thoughts about religion are similar to Einstein's. I find myself agreeing with Einstein over a lot of stuff, Including his loner quote. The real irony is, That letter was released days after i decided to be a self-proclaimed atheist.
And i was just starting to forge the exact same thoughts about organized religion.

I have no idea if he was an atheist or not. He could've been anyone. Maybe he does celebrate Christmas but was trying to be "thoughtful" towards others who don't. Or maybe he was just having a bad day. Or maybe he was Ebenezer Scrooge. Either way it sounds like he was a bit out of line.

I usually like to make sure said flight is airborne first, but I'm one of the nutters, so what do I know?
