Ruthless Leliana has a pretty chilling ending to her personal quest. Aside from that,

It'll most likely matter in future games or DLC. I'm really interested in seeing the ramifications a hard leli will have on the chantry.

Depends if you give her power or not. I always pick Cassandra for Divine so for me it doesn't matter really, event-wise.

I always found her ruthless side a bit creepy but kind of amusing at the same time.

It matters for one big choice, and it matters if you care about roleplaying in general. Y'know... like what kind of Inquisition do you want to be known for?

Ruthless Leliana seems like a less happier version. As for how it works if she's Divine, I think it works either way. She either reforms the Chantry with reason or rivers of blood, and either are acceptable to me.

My dear Leliana. My poor wounded heart is too weak to bear seeing her suffer and become a cold ruthless bt*ch.

I always unharden her.Go dance, sing, pick flowers and eat pudding my dear Leliana, you deserve it!

EDIT:I love seeing soft Leliana become Divine, it is like a perfect ending to her story arc throughout the games

if you want racial tension to just vanish through a few words and for magical tension to dissappere and mages and templars all getting along and everyone just accepting Lelianna's reforms. go soft. There racial tensions vanish and mages are beloved and all the past magical tension is just gone.

If you want something that makes more sense for a dark fantasy, where reforms must be established through blood. Those that oppose her die by her or her agents. Much more interesting and more likely to get reforms passed when you can just kill your opponent.

of course if you aren't going for divine leliana this doesn't matter.

Ruthless Leliana. Especially if she becomes divine, she change things, she gets **** done and no one stands on her way.

I went through the trouble of not hardening her in Origins, and I'm not going to let her fall off the path in Inquisition. As for people saying its unrealistic for her reforms to work via peaceful means, it's not. Humanity can surprise you at times, and after a near apocalypse they might be more open to change.

I prefer something in between. Both ruthless and soften Leliana feel unnatural to me. I want Leliana who weren't too soft or too ruthless.

That said I like ruthless version more, she gets **** done and won't let anyone stand in her way.

I've done both now through two plays and I prefer a soft Lel, a hardened Lel in charge of a powerful religion with new found faith is scarier than any antagonist we've faced in the dragon age series.

Seems silly, to me, to tell Leliana to care about her agents given how frequently you as the player throw agents and soldiers alike into dangerous missions where they will die off the screen.

I kinda dug it when I replayed the final scene of her personal quest...I wanted to see if it was possible to soften her even though I had spent the game up to that point hardening her -- it didn't work.  All that I achieved was her calling me out on my hypocrisy, going so far as to cite every single time I had told her "whatever it takes".

Ruthless Leliana if she does not become Divine since that's exactly what's needed for the job and Soft Leliana if she does become Divine.

Because no, murdering everyone who opposes while you are the head of a church is NOT a good idea.

I like the concet they went with Leliana here... It made me wonder, if i didn't hardened her in origins, than justinia was kind of a heartless ******, right? I mean, unhardened Leliana ended origins as the sweetest redhead in the land, and came back as murderous brooding bird lady. The kind of jobs she had to do i can only imagine...
