I have a bow and a greataxe.
But an inability to connect to PSN since the network still seems to be under hacker attack.
I have a sad.
Is PSN still down then?
Maybe it'l be working tomorrow...

Last I heard, PSN Updates tweeted that they may be back up by tomorrow.
*sigh*
No great axes here ![]()
Does the Qunari start with one? I haven't crafted his armour yet, so that is an option.
I have a greataxe, but no one who can weild it. Awesome
The commendation chest flavor text claims "improved loot." I don't remember if last week's one said that.
Anyway, I got three purples and two >level 20 rares, so I can't personally claim false advertising.
Was going to give this a try, but joined game, CTD, and.....quit.
lol. Last weekend I got a level 21 Longbow of the Griffon in both my Commendation Packs. Used it to do the Bow Mastery challenge. Opened my Commendation Pack and got a level 21 Refined Hossberg Twainer to do the Greataxe Mastery challenge. Sorry.
These Weekend Challenges are actually making me feel bad for newcomers and casual players. I have some friends who are becoming discouraged with the game already. I don't know how Bioware came up with the of asking 100 Kills with a Weapon that is not provided to the player and it can only be used with certain characters that aren't provided either.
Come on, the game is only 5 weeks old, and most people have just got it after it went on sale this Holidays. The first couple of Weekend Challenges should be much more accessible.
Ai, and I salvaged all 2h weaponry after I found Starfang... -.-

I think your assessment is too pessimistic.
There are two challenges, the Bow is immediately available, the GreatAxe is not - that's the point of a challenge.
The first two MEMP challenge weekends were tougher.
Neither of those things I have achieved yet.
Here we just have to swing an axe a few times and we can play to get one.
Most people have DAI on sale after the holidays?
Where does your data come from?
Is that a fact or an unsubstantiated assumption masquerading as fact?
To be fair everyone should be able to complete at least one challenge. As in everyone has a staff and everyone has a bow.
People who have spent some time with MP would have some chance of completing the other. I've got the great axe, but no one who can wield it. Probably because I can only play solo. MP doesn't work for me.
I'd argue that that promoting both a faster process and also completely independent of the RNG elements to get gear that this one requires. The first two MEMP challenge weekends were tougher.]
[*]Complete a mission on Silver (Threatening)
[*]Promote (Prestige) two characters
[/list]Neither of those things I have achieved yet.

Thank you Bioware for Griffon Longbow.
PSN is finally back online. I just completed the challenge really quick in case things go to hell again.

Geez, I've been playing since yesterday, and I still haven't got 100 kills, yet! ![]()

100 kills in this game feels a lot harder on a team than 100 kills in ME3MP. I wind up having to play solo because if I don't I seem to get a stunningly low number of kills. "kills" as a metric doesn't seem very team oriented. I'd prefer damage as a metric.
My other gripe with these types of thing is how badly it messed up the concept of a "party" based game. For the whole weekend I've been seeing a lot of craptastic party compositions because everyone is an archer (apparently a lot of folks either don't have the axe or anyone who could use it).

I guess I should have said many, not most. My bad. It is my assumption indeed, purely based on the people I know.
After Origin started offering a 20% discount on DAI and now a 30% discount, I am seeing a lot of people whom I haven't seen login on Origin for at least 6 months returning to play DAI, and many tell frustrating experiences on DAMP.
Silver on Mass Effect is less difficult than Threatening on DAMP. And one could easily play Silver with the starting weapons (Mantis and Katana in particular could even hold themselves on Gold). On DAMP it is nowhere like that. Starting weapons are a joke. The developers seem to be at least well aware of this not to ask for Threatening extractions as of now, but that could change.
Gaining XP on Mass Effect was somewhat easier too. You could get from Level 19 to 20 in two Silver games, but on DAMP you need 3 to 4 Threatening games. If one happens to consider that Threatening on DAMP is more difficult than Silver on ME3, Promoting on DAMP has to be more difficult as well. Hence the developers are not asking for Promotions; not yet.
But getting a Greataxe isn't that simple, it comes down to RNG. As well as crafting an armor for the Reaver or the Katari requires material which a player will only obtain after having played for a few hours. It is not just like "swing an axe a few times and we get to play one", at least not for everyone.
One again, my posts are not concerning those like me or you who got the Challenges done within one hour or two after they were announced. My posts are on whether the Weekend Challenges are including or excluding casuals and newcomers.
Saw this and groaned, I only had a good bow (Punched by the Maker), and no greataxes at all.
Tried to join a match, saw 3 other archers and left, decided to try to solo Routine.
Pulled it off, my first solo ever, even though it was only Venatori. 107 bow kills.
Opened the Commendation chest. Get lvl 22 Rare Greataxe.
Cue enormous grin.

Interesting points.
I have not yet promoted (highest is at 16) so I had not appreciated the increasing XP demand at higher level vs MEMP.
The point about having a Reaver or Katari ready is fair enough - with 7 weapon types, it shouldn't be too long before a Great Axe unlocks.
I am steadily crafting armours so now have 7/12 characters.
The trick of course is not to salvage something you might need !
I'm making sure to keep one of of each magic type staff for spare.
If there was only a GreatAxe Mastery then that would certainly be more excluding.
I think it's a tricky balance to get right, to create a challenge and accessibility.
There are indeed a mix of players from total newbies to MEMP veterans.
Oh... and the events can warp party composition can't they.
I started as one of 4 Archers earlier.
It didn't end well ![]()
Geez, I've been playing since yesterday, and I still haven't got 100 kills, yet!
Jer, have you already forgotten the killing machine that I am? I know it's been a while since we ME3MP'd together, but still... ![]()
Nah, in all seriousness, I've been playing some matches weekly since launch, so I've got some gear leveled up. Makes it easier for me to kill things faster. You just started, so you're probably taking 8,000 hacks just to try and kill something. ![]()
Plus, I was always a good kill-stealer... erm, I mean, kill-helper. ![]()
