Back in October I took up the free DA:O offer.  I downloaded the game, created a character, and played.  A couple months later, aka today, I log in to find DA:O no longer exists under my profile.  I have it installed on my computer, the shortcut is on my desktop, but when I click it, it asks for a product code.  When I look at my Games list in Origin DA:O doesn't exist.

 

Was this free to play only valid for the month of October?  As in, you could only play it for free until the end of October?

 

Or is there another issue at work here?

hmm, as far as I know Origin On the House titles are yours to keep - forever. So Origin asking you for a product code must be a bug. Contact Origin support, that's your best shot for resolving this
