Liara's recordings should be scattered throughout ME 4

I know Shepard's story is over, but it would be cool if the new Mass Effect, had Liara's recordings about her recollections of Shepard scattered throughout the new Mass Effect.

Maybe after the character creation and background bio screen, we could choose if our Shepard was a male or female so Liara's recordings would match the gender.

Indeed it would be awesome to go on an uncharted world and find one of those. Though I'm not holding my breath because it most likely won't happen.

P.S. I'm pretty sure that our choices (Like whether Shep was male or female, did the council die in ME1, etc) will be acknowledged by a system similar to DA's Keep. I made a thread about it.

I wonder if they would hide one on Thedas.

Liara's timecapsules are obsolete, because obviously we won against the reapers in ME3.

I guess ME4 will be placed 100 years after ME3 or so, long enough to have Shepard dead, but not too long, because otherwise the setting is getting less interesting.

It will start off in our galaxy, because you need a connection to Earth somehow as an anchor.

Liara will probably even be alive still, maybe act as a matriach, so there's another reason you don't need timecapsules.

The new big enemy - probably another ancient super-race from another galaxy. My top pick.

Other options are the rachni, remaining reapers from dark space (less likely). I doubt Leviathans will be the enemy because of the boring underwater setting where they live, but maybe they turn out to be the controllers of the new enemies, aka the endboss.

No.  I'd rather not have any connection whatsoever between MENext and Shepard's trilogy.  Ideally, I'd want to pretend Shepard never existed.

the fewer connections between shepard's trilogy  and MENext the better

Perhaps an easter egg for those exploring had enough might be nice. Otherwise I don't see much point to them.

It would be cool to find some easter eggs. Maybe finding parts of the original Normandy on some planet or something. Something that we can make connections with, but doesnt bring shepard barging into the storyline. Just a nod to the triology.

We're not saying that it would be important. We know that we won the war with the Reapers and that we don't need them. We're just saying that it would be nice to find one as an easter egg on an uncharted world.

Regardless if "some" want to distance themselves from Shepard, I personally would love to have some of those boxes show up at some point somewhere. I loved my Shepards, I loved their stories from unedited beginning to unedited end and would love to have some sort of memory for the man/woman that defeated the Reapers. Unless ME4 is going to be set in an entirely different universe(same galaxy different storyline).

unless the next ME is 50.000 years in the future, we failed against the reapers, and you want a ME without humans on planet earth, those time-capsules make no sense in the next game, because their message is as you know "we failed, make it better."

We're just saying we'd like to see one anyway. They're there so why not see one on an uncharted world. Again, we're not saying it would be important to the new story, it would just be an easter egg. Do you have difficulty reading?

They would be irrelevant, but they would still make sense. They likely sent out the time capsules a long while prior to the assault on earth, in case of failure. I see little reason to travel across the galaxy and painstakingly retrieve them all later on. There are more important things to do...like rebuild.

I think that could be cool if the game is set in Council or Terminus space.

I get the feeling the next game is going to be set outside that though.

This could be a cool little Easter egg, if we only found one. I wouldn't want them to be something that we stumble upon more than once. That would stretch credibility and involve the previous trilogy too much.

This is what I suspect and hope, also.

Its a good thing that won't be happening, Shepard is the main trilogy's most iconic character they aren't going to ignore his/her contributions to the series.

As a Easter Egg, Yup. But not as a Collectible Mission. (Collect X Number of Capsules to uncover the secret, blah, blah)

Because, of course, Liara did send the Capsules and even if you win the reaper War, they are still there. It's not like they self-Destructed or something.

It simply depends on the story if it is a good idea. We dont know ANYTHING about the story yet - nor when neither where exactly it will take place. So I just have no idea if I would like to see stuff like this :)

Lot people here seem to build very particular expactations how the story should look like. I try to wait and try to let me surprise from Bioware :)
