Bring back the Warden (in DLC) as a protagonist - Should be the easiest decision in Bioware history!

I can't understand why Bioware is potentially not going to bring back the Warden as a protagonist at all as a playable character. At the very least it would be awesome to see them again in DLC especially given that the Warden now has a specific mission to attend to. Fictional writers struggle endless to produce popular characters, Bioware has been sitting on a character which fans have been craving for years now yet, they inexplicable decide against bringing them back.

I'm by no means demanding that the Warden be the protagonist for DA4. I support the new protagonist approach for each and every main game but, for DLC in Inquisition I think it's a exception worth making to bring back the Warden given their gargantuan popularity from DA fans, especially those who enjoyed Dragon Age Origins.

Additional Features that could be added:

- Old School Specialisations - Bringing back specialisations such as Blood Mage, Arcane Warrior, Bard, Duellist etc. Each specialisation from Origins only had four skills so I would assume it shouldn't be too demanding to bring back. Oh, and bring back dual-wielding warriors (not sure why they got rid of that).

- Awakening Companions - Wardens such as Oghren and Nathaniel would both have an interest in solving the issue over the calling

as they could suffer a premature death too so they could make decent companions for DLC. Sandal and his foster father could also

make appearances to sell high quality items to the Warden. This would explain their absence in Inquisition.

- Origin exclusive content - Perhaps a member of Ferelden's Royal Guard or something as a companion

sent by either King Alistair or Queen Anora (if you're Warden is married) to ensure you're safety would be a nice touch

to demonstrate the benefits of being a noble born. If that's too expansive for mere DLC then simply origin exclusive

dialogue options instead that may seem trivial but keep the Warden a personal character.

- Option to customize your Warden - This should go without saying.  New voice options but the same character creator as that

available in the DAI main game should be fit for purpose.

If you're Warden made the US in Dragon Age: Origins, simply make a new Warden-Commander as was possible in Awakening.

Yes, bring back the Warden...

So I can kill them. Or at least one of them. For the good ones, I'll just send them off. I want to give the whole thing a rest.

If the Warden made the ultimate sacrifice, then one should be allowed to create a new Warden-Commander like in Awakening. The Warden-Commander from DA:A couldn't die anyway so that should be okay

Sometimes those characters who we connect with on such a level they could never be replaced should be left alone and simply remembered.

Personally, I wouldn't mind playing as the Warden without a voice as they were in Dragon Age Origins but I'm not sure that is possible from a commercial stand point. If they are dead create a new Warden-Commander to replace as was the case in Dragon Age: Awakening. Their personality should hopefully be dictated by you're decisions throughout the DLC

Oh yeah....

Sometimes it is better to leave a hero go in this manner then dig him/her out and make a nonsense story....that only a handful would like . And it would cheapen them .

But if they replace the warden (Cose the original died)....so in the end..ya just want a Warden....any warden ??

Seriously......while I understand how ya feel . This obsession of wanting the warden , and the warden order and the damn boring blight to come back..is getting old . Bioware said they wont bring back the warden.........

And....I think the more ya push..the more the idea of the warden not coming back become solid .

I understand but, Revan wasn't a character we one could customize to my knowledge in Star Wars: The Old Republic? To be honest, if they didn't provide a voice which ironically would require less work. That would a long way to help recapture the same feel as origins whether right or wrong.

Said it before, saying it again. Too much work and not enough pay off. There are a lot of variables that turn it into a lot of work. Add to the fact that there will be a huge amount of crying about it because something is not going to be exactly right about it....makes it not worth the headache.

You are not asking for an Inquisition DLC. You are asking for an Origins DLC. A game which came out 5 years ago and had a full expansion and multiple DLCS already. I agree that it's the only way the Warden could be brought back and make it work, but not going to happen.

No but choosing to walk him to the light/Jedi side of the force only to have him return as a Sith tyrant that must be killed is the worst kinda sad.

Preferably the Warden from Dragon Age Origins would be ideal but if not them someone would have to solve the calling issue regardless. Nothing to do with the blight or anything I wouldn't want a repeat of that like as you say. Maybe it will never happen but, no harm in trying eh?

I support the Warden/Orlesian Warden returning as a DLC protagonist. I'd be fully willing to return to Silent Protagonist status for the duration of a dlc, as well.

Or we have dlc for the Inquisitor since you know, this is DAI, not DAO.

I'm hoping for something more, yeah. The Warden's whole curing the Calling quest seems like a big thing, and at the moment it's not just 'left to headcanon' because I have no idea if I'm supposed to just do that or if it's setting something up for the future. It's kinda in limbo right now.

Honestly as much as I love my HoF and my head canon  (just read my FF) it made no sense to me that she wasn't around during the Inquisition.

IMO she should have been the protagonist in fact.

I just think BW was afraid of the back lash and I think the BW writers (one in particular) is very resentful that we as players wanted to take "ownership" of the characters they write esp the HoF.

Plus I think they also wanted to attract a new generation of players and bringing back the HoF might have interfered in that. Stooopid.

This. So much this.

My Warden is off somewhere with Morrigan and I prefer it stays that way.

Or both? This would just be a one off DLC to catch up with the Warden (if alive). There doesn't have too be any opportunity cost involved since we could get Inquisitor DLC beforehand

The warden wasn't the player character in all of the DAO DLC. They decided to have Hawke remain the lead for both of the DA2 dlc campaigns, but giving a campaign a separate PC from the main game isn't without precedent.
