Bring back the Warden (in DLC) as a protagonist - Should be the easiest decision in Bioware history!

Here are the reasons why I can see them not bringing back the Warden (avoiding the obvious, of course, that the Warden could be dead). They are all quite similar.

"Hey, this doesn't look like the Warden I want, I can't get the hairstyle right. It's not mine-e-e-e-e-e!"

"Hey, I don't like this voice. It doesn't sound like my Warden is supposed to sound. It's not me-e-e-e-e-e!"

"The Warden is too nice/too mean. I didn't make those choices in Origins. It's not me-e-e-e-e-e!"

"Oh noes. My Warrior Warden is using a sword and shield. I picked Dual-Wield. It's not me-e-e-e-e-e-e!"

The list goes on. There's already plenty of insane, hysterical, self-obsessed folks who want it to be all about them. Since the Warden had no defined characteristics, that would just make it worse.

Given that people will act like asses about virtually any game design decision, does it matter? If they aren't flailing about that, they'll be flailing about something else. We might as well get some story out of it. ;)

Oh God, just let it GO.

My Warden was a tank rogue who wore heavy armour and wielded a sword and a dagger. Precisely how would you envision me being able to recreate my Warden?

Spoiler

I know it's hard. But you gotta say your goodbyes to the Warden. And.. let... go. Begin Again, then let go.

For God's sake.

I wouldn't mind a DLC where you play as your Inquisitor and you have HoF in your party to handle some Warden related quest.  The HoF would have to be fully customizable, it would be really difficult to create a "generic" one, but they could always pull the race and specialization from The Keep.  If your Hero is dead, I guess it could be Alastair, Loghain, Stroud, or whoever is next in line (maybe Blackwall a few years down the road).

Well, you could be a grown up about it and accept that your build would change and you'd have a voice.... No?

All the people saying let it go...you realize that your view has no more vaildity than someone who wants to see the warden again, right? In fact, the irritating self righteousness of it as given me a much stronger desire to see it than I had before. Every 'let it go, you dumb fucks' increases my new intent to never shut up about it.

Who knows, maybe he/she decided to change up their weapon and armor in the last 10 years?

You know what they say about first loves and all that

Yeah :( :( :( :( :(

But I think it will not have this DLC, even if someone's Warden is dead, can be use another warden this such DLC, Loghain, Alistair, Warden Commander of Orlais, yet I doubt Bioware go do something.

Then it wouldn't be my warden rendering the exercise moot.

Because no one changes in 10 years? That's pretty darn rigid. I bet most people would be a tad more adaptable.

Why can't they just do what they did with Hawk? I wouldn't mind my warden having a set personality on the tapestry. I don't care about the voice, and I don't care if I actually get to play my warden or not. You guys make things too complicated.

I can't understand why Bioware is potentially not going to bring back the Warden as a protagonist at all as a playable character.

Let me help you understand: Bioware has stated time and time again that they will never repeat protagonists. The DA franchise is about the world, not one specific character. It's that simple.

Here is the way the dlc should go: Another warden or the inquisitor goes to check on the warden(that could be your warden if they are still alive) and finds them dead or better yet, turned into a darkspawn that you have to defeat. That would finally put an end to the Warden.

As you might have guessed, I am not a fan of the Happily Ever After ending. Just kill the warden once and for all, Bioware. If you are not, as you have stated, going to bring back the warden as playable then just kill him/her and get it over with.

Yes, bring back the Warden...

So I can kill them. Or at least one of them. For the good ones, I'll just send them off. I want to give the whole thing a rest.

I agree with StreetMagic...these are truly dark days

See the Warden return in DLC? DEFINITELY!

As a protagonist? Not a frelling chance sadly.

Still id take a voiced Warden support role ala Hawke/Morrigan over a "Im sorry im busy doing nothing of immediate importance while MY LOVER AND SON ARE IN MORTAL DANGER" letter any day.

But HoF needs to be badass. Like dragon-morrigan but better. Not like "Ill just follow you quietly" Hawke.

Honestly in my view the Hero of Ferelden is like the Goku of the dragon age setting. Just effortlessly badass.

Herald/Inquisitor is like Gohan. Has his big moment, but its just not as convincing as when daddy does it.

Hawke is...... witty. But at least hes got Isabela in my game.... well maybe. Its not clear.

To change you need have personality warden didn't had any outside that players established and why i would want random character that pretty much destroys everything character i have created was.

Cus they couldn't even faithfully recreate what hawke could be hawke who could be blood mage himself and could have supportive relationship with 1 now pretty much hates blood magic not mention completly customizable protagonist like the warden.

Not in the total way the new class system would demand completly changing the entire way you do everything and utterly forgetting key skills (For my Mage being an arcane warrior, spirit healer and battle mage, wearing the Warden Commanders Armour and weilding that arcane warrior sword ) For my warrior being a dw weilding beserker. reaver, spirit warrior, in blood dragon plate with the star metal sword and a hideous darkspawn rip and tear thing) That ofc wasn't the totality of the personnality, but it did play in, and the look was what made them for me.

Keep asking for the Warden and watch Bioware kill him off for good so they dont have to deal with the " where is the Warden " mess lol in fact they probably should so people would move on.

Oh please. Don't blame the character because you're just lack of creativity and imagination to fill the blank sheet with your own character creation. :P

Thanks to Hawke being a complete failure of a PC, imho. BW´s word on lots of issues is about as trustworthy as a politician´s, so stop acting as if it were gospel. They´ve shown time and again they lie when it suits them.

I think I would enjoy a Lair of the shadowbroker style dlc, where Leliana (I almost wrote Liara) and Warden reunite, or when Warden is dead, Inquisitor would be able establish romance with her. Like making her love again. She was the most popular romance choice in DA:O after all.

It would be tough though in the world state where Warden killed her, or hated her.

That asswhooping. The verbal thumps through the screen, like Goku punching Cell. Beautiful.

I find it hilarious when people insult their own intellectual capacity and never realize it.

I'm kind of cool on the idea of there being a Warden related DLC if its similar to how Hawke was presented, but way too much to bring all those companions, specializations, and the like back. OP's idea was initially good until it started looking like a petition for Origins 2, which will never happen.

As others said, the Warden has too many variables. And inevitably, someone will cry. The voice, dialogue, x specialization/spell/combat style didn't return, its too much of a headache. Maybe a minor cameo like Hawke or a pure gameplay/minimal dialogue approach, but to me why focus on that when there's so many other arcs in Thedas (Tevinter, Kal Shirok, the Qunari, heck Wolf Hunt) that are more relevant and much more interesting.

The Warden had his/her time. Let it go.

Just curious, do you feel the same about Hawke and the inquisitor or is this wish for tragedy reserved for the warden?
