I might've missed something or perhaps it was addressed in the game, but why wasn't she put up for candidacy?

Isn't she lower on the Chantry food chain than even the clerics that may be vying for the role?

She's one of the few charty people doing anything. She's better then donkey punch lady in Val Royeaux.

I don't think BioWare could get away with a simple M rating if Lord Seeker Lucius actually donkey-punched that woman in front of everyone.

Because Gaider or whomever wrote the Divine plot line wanted one if your companions/advisors to be Divine. No other reason.

It's enough that she's probably the most important figure in the founding of the Inquisition.

Based on the amount of threads we get on it, it's not enough for a lot of people...

(And they're right, BTW.)

A more interesting question would be: why can't the Quizzy be the Divine. It would be great to have the first Qunari Divine in the Chantry history.

There actually isn't a reason for her candidacy? Hell, I think she's more capable than Cassandra. Giselle has the purity and respect without having blood on her hands like Cass or Leli. Plus she plays the motherly role real well. I think Cassandra would look ridiculous wearing that divine attire lol. There's no reason, with the backing of the Inquisition, that Giselle can't be named divine.

Much as I'd like her as Divine, I have to admit that she probably wouldn't last 5 minutes in the ruthless world at the top.    It has to be remembered that Justinia was a lady with a background that meant she was probably a lot tougher and was definitely more ruthless than would appear from the game.

Mother Giselle is just too reasonable and honest, plus some rather controversial views.    Apparently the conquest of the Dales was not a true Exalted March, she good as admits it was politically rather than religiously motivated; the Chantry's teaching on magic has always been at odds with Andraste's intentions; and so on.    Plus I think she would feel she can do more good out in the field helping people.     She is the sort of ideal chantry mother and for that reason would never get voted for.

You're right, and ITA. At the end of my game, I had psycho Leliana, power-hungry Vivienne, and Cassandra, who, while her heart is in the right place, is impulsive, impatient, and totally unsuited to life as a politician.

Meanwhile, Giselle just hangs out in the garden.

Makes no sense, and the only reasoning is that the writers couldn't or didn't want to give you that option.

The problem I have with that reasoning is it essentially excludes Cassandra as well. Cassandra is tough when it comes to battles, but has no idea how to play politics, and to the extent that she does, has no patience for it.

If you're going to say Giselle is too naive and idealistic, Cass is the same.

She is the only npc I really want to get away from...and then she starts to sing (and being unable to skip the scene!! ). What a relief when Solas comes to save me from that...uhm...so that I get someone that can have a serious talk.

Celestial teapots and stuff.

The Chantry doesn't like black people.

Can you show me 1 Divine that was black? They're all white old women. It's blazing saddles all over again.

That's why you have a left hand of a divine. A leader can't do everything but people can help that leader do so.

You missed my point, which was that people who try to make sense out of Giselle not being a candidate usually make an argument that ends up excluding Cassandra as well.

Bottom line, there is no good reason for Giselle being excluded.
