Longbow of the Griffon is the best bow in my opinion. Punch by the maker is overrated as is Tenesarin.

Is this true with no regard to archer vs hunter and the skills and the way you play and difficulty setting?
Or are there specific builds where the other bows would outshine the Griffon bow?
I found that for me the Griffion bow is causing to much aggro on my archer.
So instead of one enemy coming at me at a time, it can trigger three enemies coming after me at the same time.
How should my archer handle that?
Plus, I've heard the Griffion bow is better suited for hunters.

I have yet to play with either bow on Perilous, but as I mentioned in an earlier reply, PBTM outshines LBoG in Threatening at least. I say this as having been in groups where other Archer/Hunter use LBoG.
However, I agree that this will likely change in Perikous difficulty. Will have to try them both out and see which works best.
Your question aggro is a good one. My basic strategy is wait a few moments for another player to draw aggro so you can shoot away to your heart's content.
With regard to the Hunter, I think yes, LBoG may be better suited. With Stealth he can flank the enemy and pound on them 3 shots at a time. I will be trying out a stealth/flank Hunter here shortly, trying both bows. All this said, though Perilous is another story, so will see how that goes.

Punched by the Maker = Archer
Longbow of the Griffon = Hunter

Agreed.
Hunters naturally tend to be close fighters, so they can use the triple shot mechanic to make all 3 hits contact 1 target. Which is even more amazing once you realize all damage bonuses get attached to all three arrows (rolling draw, stealth, and knife in the shadows will effect all 3 arrows fired from 1 "shot").
For PbtM, i dont really care about walking bomb. its honestly lackluster. Its redeeming quality however is its ability to get 23% crit chance (while having the same damage as LotG), which archer can utilize very well in comparison to the hunter.

Get more willpower... haha. Stay max range. You should be able to kill them with a couple upgraded long shots, upgraded leaping shot and a few auto shots. Or if your damage isn't where it should be give the tank a few seconds to grab agro before opening up.

Judging by the stats, they are not the same damage. You are effectively comparing 41% attack vs. 23% crit chance, at least as far as Longshot damage is concerned.
P.S. Fuuu all for having either of the two weapons. I think I've gotten every purple bow that's not Maker/Gryphon twice by now.

They're all different dps too, is that normal? Do all uniques vary in dps/stats? I don't think i realized that before

Even commons and rares have some variance.

I've been running the perseverance bow
The 48% flanking damage is quite good for my hunter as i usually get in behind the mobs.
Also have superb ring of flanking and a 10% flanking ring.
So a total of 78% flanking dam bonus plus stealth buffs makes for good clean kills
ps does the Griffon bow fire 36 shots w/ Leaping shot?

no, only on standard attacks does it triple shot.

the best bow I have found is a rare lvl 22 "Bow of Cruel Redemption" with a bow grip that increases crit chance and a superb Lightning Rune it looks like this:
143 Damage
+25 Electricity Damage
+16% Critical Chance
+27% Critical Damage Bonus
+8 Willpower
On hit: Heal for 1% of Maximum Health
It allows you to recover from injuries since you always aggro archers and some of them hit on occasion. To be able to restore hp while dashing out huge damage saves your Heal pots for the boss fight that makes it a clear winner in my book.

I wonder if this has changed by now. I've got LBotG, PBtM, and Trepanner's. The addition of the T3 upgrades might just push LBotG off its pedestal. What do you guys think?

Yes but you have to be very close range for all 3 to hit one target, unless the target is very large as the dragon. Thus more of a Hunter style weaponThey do damage to anyone, dragon included...?
