This statue (image below) is found close to some Dwarven ruins up in the mountains in the Hissing Wastes. But it is obviously not a Dwarven paragon nor is it a Dwarf. At first I thought it was perhaps a Desire Demon but it really isn't that.  But then I see what looks like a snake wrapping around her legs and it reminded me of the famous painting of Lilith by John Collier (can't post it here as it shows nudity).

Could it be Qunari?

Could it be a younger Flemeth with what looks like a snake perhaps a tail of a dragon?

It really (to me) looks like a representation of the Mesopotamian goddess Lilith or possibly Kali? (I know its not them two but seems to be where the inspiration might have come from.)

Anyway, does anyone have a idea if she is a known entity in DA?

I know the painting you're talking about, and I am SO MAD that most photo hosting services won't let me keep a copy of that image. It's art!

Here's my jumping-down-the-rabbit-hole theory:

(the spoiler tags make it seem more exciting than it is, but it refers to the main puzzle in the Hissing Wastes).

Yea I thought of that too. I was just hoping it might have been a new "bas ass character" in DA universe.

Thanks for answering.

I'm getting heavy desire demon vibes off the statue.

It's pretty interesting regardless.

I came to the same conclusion about this, that whole area just opens up more questions. It got to the point where I was trying to figure out if dwarfs could be possessed by demons with no connection to the fade and all. Then I figure that these dwarfs were so different from the rest that we know about, that it may even be possible.

Anyways well said.

I did wonder if it had any connection with the Mosaic pieces for Sacrifice that are only found within the hissing wastes, when completed you are told that the sacrifice depicted in it originally had horns.

I was thinking it might have been something akin to that.

I paid a lot of attention to the artwork in the temple of mythal specifically statues and the female ones certainly had wings and broken horns, in these though there is no tail and the face is covered by a mask, what the statue in the wastes looks like to me is an earlier representaition of mythal, one before her fall or betrayal.

Hmmm... I am about to go into Mythal's temple.... I will see if I can find any others that look similar. Thanks.

Though the images of Mythal in her temple have her depicted as blind. At least, as far as I can tell - those statues are pretty big. But she appears to be blindfolded; this statue isn't.

Which is why I proposed it was an earlier depiction, given what we know about mythal/flemeth and the corolation with dragons it's not a stretch.

My reasoning in thinking it was an earlier depiction is based in real world geology and anthropology, the sand in the deserts of Egypt did a pretty good job of preserving what had been buried for a couple thousand years.

I could be wrong completely and it is in fact a desire demon but the similarities are certainly there. Add that with bull suggesting a type of hybrid creature could exist in the world of DA Qunari or otherwise and I think it's at least worth considering.

Bull is a source of how to manage genetic traits into desired outcomes now?

Honestly having a mammal cross breed with reptiles crosses so many boundaries of what I know about genetics I'm almost half tempted to try it.

But alas reality is far crueler then Dragon Age.

Themostatis issues alone would ruin it.

I find bull being a source of information no less likely than the trickster god......

And here people were complaining about the lack of desire demons in the game.

There is an identical statue holding up a bridge in Emprise Du Lion, overlooking Elfsblood River. There is also an adjoining statue of a male figure wearing a Venatori helmet. This leads me to believe the statues are of Tevinter origin.

Unfortunately I am unable to provide pictures at this time.
