on a more serious note, the day DA has pvp is the day DA is officially dead and has become bioware's worst game ever

i can already see the new players getting stomped into the ground

I don't see how more player options is a terrible idea. If you don't want play it don't but pvp is a very popular realm of online gaming.

No thanks, it should remain Co-Op as intended.

I can't see it happening but you're right, if users wouldn't like it they wouldn't have to play it.

nah, I'd go for it. After a week people would drop it because it would be full of Rouges 1-shotting you and realise why it was a bad idea.

Darn it, I hate it when my strong opinion is found to be logically inadequate  ;)

You are of course correct that if the option not to play exists, it should be no problem for those who don't want to.

Just like the option to play multiplayer at all.

Yet PVP is a different balancing proposition.

The plot context is tenuous.

It's not a good direction for the franchise in my opinion.

Extra content is a matter for BioWare.

I just hope they don't.

You guys just don't get it. If Origins was PvP, I'd drop you and your entire party in a matter of seconds and you'd be sitting there going "Whaa?"

I don't see Dragon Age going outside the realm of PvE without massive gameplay changes and honestly, I'd prefer it stayed that way.

Whatever the sequel to Inquisition is, I don't want to see them copy-pasting the multiplayer gameplay to story mode again. I want the old DA combat system back.

Not if you were standing on Fire/Ice Mine for example, even Guardian Spirit (auto Barrier on low health) would prevent that. If rogue wasted opportunity for one shot I would get interesting.

Team based PvP, for that classes do not need to be balanced against each other the same way they do in 1on1.

I'd rather not have PvP.

It would be terrible due to how horribly balanced the game would be for PvP, and I don't want to see everything get balanced around PvP.

they need to get a better grasp on MP and balance before they do that.

They also need to learn who to listen to and not listen to.

I used to love their MP when ME3 was out.  And Yes, I play DAMP, but it is a MASSIVE step down from ME3 and while it does have some improvements they really dropped the ball on some major aspects.  It's not very good overall and they need to get going in the right direction again before adding in more stuff.  I hope whoever was in charge of DAMP isn't in charge of anything else.

Yeah, also matchmaking and PvP events, own servers for hosting, system for competition like leagues and leaderboards, self-sustainable mass of players, space for clans and healthy community, but most importantly to get rid of gear progression as means to have advantage in PvP . Perhaps Bioware learned their lesson from SWTOR PvP and decided to stick to story telling, creating universes and coop multiplayer.

I would say a resounding no to class based PvP.

However, there is in fact one way this could work:

In the same style as Left 4 Dead. With the opposing players simply controlling mobs within the existing framework of multiplayer as a Dungeon Master like mechanic. Class balance isn't a concern then and you're merely utilizing what is already present. Its fine if you get one shot by a rogue when you're Mabari #5 because if you die you just switch control to Red Templar #2.

The players playing Inquisition agents get a more interesting challenge against an intelligent monster "AI"

The players playing mobs get to conspire on how best to take down and possibly eat wayward adventurers.

Make mob control drop in to existing matches instead of waiting at the gate to begin or end like Inquisition players to encourage other players to try it out. Reward gold for damaging/killing/debuffing/defending the objective from Inqusition players. Reward "xp" merely as low key passives and granting wider access to controlling more enemy types and their abilities.

You got yourself a party.
