I don't see a point to excessive promotions and skipping chests/pots

Was running with some people the other day, and they were discussing how they wanted to speed run perilous, skip all the chests and gold pots and just grind for promotions to get better stats. I did it with them for a while but got tired of it, fast.

Doesn't that just make the endgame that much quicker? You really want to become that bored with it that quickly, that you can't wait until you're an invincible God with +99 or whatever on all stats?

Isn't that just effectively turning perilous into threatening all over again? Don't know about you guys but I'm in it for the challenge, and I don't mind grabbing some gold pots once in a while.

I do kind of wish they'd make the chest mini-bosses more interesting. Undead soldiers definitely need a buff. The only time Revenant and Arcane Horror are entertaining are when you solo them.

They wanted to do that.

Your choice to join in or not.

I'm still crafting armours for characters, so gold for chests and loot drops matter more to me.

I'm very much interested in treasure rooms and loot jars.

It was fun, then I remembered the only times I've even got uniques from chests were on Perilous, and decided it's not for me. At least not yet it isn't.

I'm just glad they made me realize it's a lot more fun than playing with people who haven't promoted anything and save the health font in case they have to run back for it.
