As most people on this Forum, I've been a believer of what Bioware can do so Dragon Age: Origins. As many before me I killed the Archdemon, the Mother, the Architect, Orsino, Merideth, and plenty other bosses. I found both Mass Effect and Dragon Age great series because I could import my choices to the next game. So naturally when I ordered Dragon Age: Inquisition I did what most Bioware fans did: rushed through the series like no tomorrow so I can play Inquisition with a background that I created.
Those who have played the entire series knows what I faced: no way to import my game. Now for most this isn't a problem. But I don't normally have Wifi when I play Xbox 360. So one could put two and two together to see I'm stuck with a dead Warden and a Mage Hawke who supported mages when I had a human Mage survive the blight and a Mage Hawke who actually sided with the Templars whose brother is in the Grey Wardens instead of the Templars.
So my one suggestion is can Bioware possibly make a DLC, they can even charge $5 for the trouble, that would allow old generation players of this game to actually import their characters? This would be an easy way to make a quick buck AND it would solve the problem of people not being able to access the Keep, both offline players and online players who have bad Internet connection.

I have this neat little theory about Dragon Age Keep...

1. When BioWare presented Mass Effect 3 to the public, they mentioned that the amount of story nodes was gigantic and added a lot of work. This is because every decision made in both previous games influenced something in the current one.

2. There is also the fact that many people never played the previous Dragon Age games.

3. Not to forget that DA:I was meant for the next-gen consoles and importing a savegame from an old console might not be that easy.

Those three points are probably the reason why we have the DA Keep, so people could easily create a world state.

It wouldn't be any trouble for us PC gamers and longtime BioWare fans to import the relevant savegames from DA:O and DA2 but it seems we aren't important enough to warrant the extra work again. Obviously, Dragon Age Keep means less work for BioWare and probably gives them access to some neat statistics, too.

I guess I can see that point. But it would be very neat if there was some way. Which is why I propose the idea of a DLC so that Bioware can gain a bit of money with the idea they've used for every other game. This way old generation players can now keep there story going exactly as they left it off.

I think there should be a way from the Keep to export a world state into a USB key or a flash card, so we could upload that file in the game when playing offline. Who agrees?

The Keep definitely has a lot of problems with it. So far, I'm not the biggest fan.

Allowing people to export to offline memory is a very good way of addressing a lot of the issues, and would have saved me quite a bit of difficulty, since having wifi for my XBone didn't make any difference for the first day that I spent trying to import my Keep World State.

Allowing the Keep to function offline as a separate program saved to someone's hard drive would do even more to address the issues. I'm hoping they plan to do that, since the game has been out for almost 2 months, and The Keep is still in Beta, and not really functioning properly.

But then it couldn't act as a DRM, then, could it ?

Don't forget point 4: DAA and DA2 made a hash of some of the important savegame flags, which weren't all correct in DA:O to start with. PC players could get around this with mods, but console players were SOL.

An offline version of the keep would be awesome to have. Internet issues are a sad reality for quite a few people and then you've got larger problems like the lizard squad bs that's been happening this week for console players.

When the Keep was first announced I was hoping it would be a bit more like the gibbed save generator pc mod that was available for DA2. It allowed you to go through all the game choices to make a custom import file so you could play out different choices without having to slog through DAO again. No internet connection required, no single world state.

At this point I can't start a new game with custom world state because psn is still down.

I believe that from EA's point of view it all boils down to:

Time

Cost

and Value.

Put another way. EA Q3 FY14 Report

"...

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today announced preliminary financial results for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2013. "

"EA's third quarter marked an exciting start to a new generation of games, and we are proud to have been the #1 publisher on next-generation consoles in December, with millions of gamers across the globe playing EA titles on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One..."

--------------------------------

"REDWOOD CITY, CA – October 28, 2014 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today announced preliminary financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2014."

"..Calendar year to date, EA continues to be the #1 publisher on PlayStation®4 and Xbox One consoles in the Western World,.."

What does it all mean? Simple: You DLC request is/may be evaluated based on Time, Cost and Value to EA.

Of the many things I have complained about in DLI, the Keep is not one of them.  My old games imports transferred just fine.  And I was even able to go in and edit a little (played DAO about 15 times, so made the game I used as my transfer, a conglomerate of all my best choices.  Saying that, I know almost everything about DLI has been buggy.  So what works for some, doesn't always work for everyone.

----Quote from Sartoz (I'm new to forums so no clue how to do that fancy box thingy)

I think you have a point but just as they did with an extended ending of Mass Effect 3 they can and should fix a wrong. It is obvious that the keep has its ups and downs. But the option for gamers to use the old way should still be there.

Instead of waiting for a hypothetical DLC, why not just plug your Xbox into the network for a couple of minutes?

Because I mainly play Xbox at Dad's who doesn't have Wifi. The reason I'm on this forum is my Mom has Wifi and occasionally I bring my Xbox over with the excuse of having friends over. I could do this whenever I start over BUT my mother doesn't approve of lugging my Xbox back and forth.
