That assumes that they are different.
Society sets "norms" that should be followed. How to act, how to treat people, how to raise children, what is acceptable, what is not acceptable, how to treat people that do not follow said norms, gender roles, etc. People are immersed into these norms the moment they are born.
That is what society and culture is.
Yes, They're different. A loose concept such as society can not be taken by one definition. Or else it'd become a modern version of religion. And i disagree with this interpretation. Society to me creates the environment for you to grow and create your individual character. To ask all the questions you have in mind freely with the feeling of being forced to think is a specific pattern.
