I came here with the distinct hope that this would either be a pregnancy thread or a raise/lower the toilet seat debate thread.

 

Honestly though, I think this thread is being sacrificed to appease the almighty internet lord, Google.  A sacrifice a day keeps Google healthy and strong; we don't want Google to abandon us.

Why is it when you bring up a problem, and I offer to directly fix it, you reply "oh no, its fine"?

Why is it when you are clearly down about something, and I ask you what's up, I'll know the answer is " oh, nothing, I'm fine"?

Why is it that we'll make plans a week in advance that you'll be running late, and you'll be stressed because you're late?

Why, women? WHYYYYY?

 

This isn't really that complicated.. a slight change of perspective and you have

 

1. Well, she said it's fine, so why are you ignoring her own personal desire? Maybe she has her own reasons for doing something herself. Maybe she was down about getting you a present and it got lost in the mail, so she wants to keep it a secret for now and fix it herself (to preserve the secret).

 

2. You judged her as being down when she wasn't, and also proceeded to ignore what she told you, which is that she was fine. Perhaps she is down now though that you ignored what she told you about your apparently mistaken assumption.

 

3. She's actually fine, you projected your own stress onto her,  and maybe all she was trying to do was have fun being fashionably late and so make you have more fun and not worry about anything. Or maybe she's stressed you need/want to plan things as much as a week in advance.
 

There are pretty much hundreds of possibilities in this particular instance, IMO. It's not a male or female thing either really.

When a man presents a problem, he expects a solution.
When a woman presents a problem, she does so to sum up the problem, digest it and think out a solution, not to have a solution delivered to her. If a woman wants a solution, she'll say: I need help.
Men think silently and hate to vocalise the process (this drives us women nuts btw.), women like to think loudly.

 

The answer: I am fine stems from pride. We don't want to give out our feelings and offer a spot to be hurt again, considering we were just hurt there, right? So pointing and saying: look - here is where I hurt if you do that - seems like a good way of giving yourself out entirely and become vulnerable. This is not what people do when they are hurt, they withdraw usually. (It needs a lot of trust to be able to stand up in situations like this and say: I am hurt because you did this or they did this and it aches me)

 

The being late-- I don't know. I might be a woman, but it is not typical of me. I never stress about being late. I clear it with everyone that considering my family size and number of kids in it, it is impossible for me to be in time. The only question is - how late I'll be.

Last Night I had an Epic dream, I do think you were in it with OWA. We were doing an 2 prong assault on a Massive Collector Base, she mention you were a bit late, then you said, Bullshit that you were early. Of Course OWA was leading her own strike team, so were you and I had my own. One of my team mates was named Harold and he was the heavy weapons expert from Cerberus and he had a reinforced harness to carry a massive plasma machine gun and he gun down several Collector troops and brutalize a few Collector Scions and Pratorians. of course someone did use a Cain on the Reaper during the battle. Yes it is very epic. then I woke up.

Sounds like more "over-diagnosis" which is all too common these days. I am sorry to hear that. If it's any consolation, I (and probably most of us BSNers) think you are perfectly healthy. None of your posts seem delusional or nutty. No more than any of mine, at least.

Schizophrenia is a mental illness. The afflicted might have been rational once.

There are no marked gender differences in the rates of severe mental disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder according to WHO though so your comment makes a moot point.
