1) Loghain still makes me physically angry, six years later. Whines to anyone who'll listen how he was "enslaved" by Orlais, yet sells Ferelden citizens into actual slavery and isn't even at all sorry he did it.

2) I also can't stand Leandra from DA2. She is the most whiny, selfish, lazy, self-entitled pain-in-the-rear I've seen in this franchise. She left her rich family years ago to marry an apostate? Okay, her choice. However, she turns up 25 years later just expecting the fortune to be waiting for her like she never left, gets mad at Gamlen for "losing the fortune" even though she chose to give it up, then whines that his living conditions are too poor for her taste while she's sitting around his house doing nothing for over a year, gets mad when he finally asks her to pay rent, refuses to get a job or help out, CLAIMS she came to Kirkwall for family security even though she a) brought her mage child/ren to the Templar den and b ) is totally fine letting at least one of her kids risk their life/lives in the Deep Roads Expedition in the name of making a fortune (apparently "love is more important than money" only when Leandra needs to pay, but money is more important than love when it's in the name of Leandra getting money), and just constantly whines about how the world owes her a living.

Leandra: "My children should be among the nobility! Not indentured servitude."

Me: Well then, you should have thought of that when you left the nobility 25 years ago.

Leandra: "I still can't believe father didn't leave me anything."

Gamlen: "You don't get to run off and still get to be the favorite, Leandra."

Leandra: "I'm still their daughter. The eldest."

Me: In other words: 'I deserve something just for being born. It should be okay for me to abandon them whenever I feel like it and not come back even as they're dying, but they still owe me something just for existing.'

God, I f***ing hate that cow.

3) Who else? Vivienne. Among countless other reasons: Thinks all mages should be in Circles, yet stays out of the Circle as much as she possibly can. If Circles are so great, Vivienne, why don't you go live there? Oh wait, it sucks there. You'd much rather live at your Duke lover's chateau and frequent lavish parties and make appearances at Court. You know, the kind of thing denied to most mages at most other Circles, but you think should be denied them but not you. But yes, other mages are "selfish" for not wanting to live in the Circles that you think they should live in, but that you yourself won't live in. Fancy that.

I can't say I "hate" any character. But the two who never make it into my party unless absolutely necessary are Blackwall (he only comes with me for that one quest to grab the warden items so he gets rep) and Vivienne. I don't hate her, in fact I like a number of her interactions, but I don't agree with some of her ideas on mages and she's a mage competing with Solas and Dorian for a spot which is no competition at all in my book. She also unfortunately uses the melee mage spec in the hands of the AI. Sure I can spec her not to use those spells but I get more out of Solas or Dorian so why bother? That, and how good or bad the AI can play the npcs is just how I base my decisions. Any npc/class/spec that can't perform adequately without being micromanaged all the time likely sees little play.

I will say I think Sera is a riot and I include her from time to time but she's not a guaranteed party member. I prefer playing a Rift Mage myself so my party has a mage already. Cassandra is my universal choice for a tank. Between her dispel and my own Rifts are super easy to clear. Cole is my favorite melee dps due to his specialization. I also like his interactions. I don't use him 100% but he's in my party more than the other rogues. Varric's interactions are great but he and Sera are both ranged dps with only their specs to really differ them from each other. They often compete for a spot in the party because of that. I love Bull's interactions and he's a good melee dps. If I don't have Cole with me he's probably in his place. His main downside is build + gear to allow him to do good dps and live to tell the tale due to how his specialization works.

If I could have a party of 6 rather than 4 though? My ideal party would be Me (Rift Mage), Cassandra, Bull, Cole, Solas, and Varric I think.

I don't hate Leandra, but I had some very similar thoughts to the same things...

Apart from Sera who seriously has some acceptance problems (particularly for other cultures/religions) going on, I'd have to say Vivienne. Now it should be noted that I do not hate her, but I do dislike her even though some of her opinions are ones that I can agree with from time to time.

I agree that as far as timing was concerned, the rebellion started at a tumultuous time. That the world at large does hate mages and that Circles could do a lot more at protecting them. That mages can be dangerous (particularly when young and not trained). But I do not agree that the status quo should be maintained, and that mages are not the main/only problem in the Circle System.

But the main reason I dislike her? It's because I identify her as ambitious to the point of mainly prioritizing herself instead of others. When that position is secure, then--and only then--will she offer her power to help others. It's not bad in and of itself, but I do not like how she presents it. I know she isn't completely selfish (she does join the Inquisition to restore order after all), but I simply cannot deny anymore that is a person more prone to protecting herself, rather than others.

Ever take her to the fade in Here Lies the Abyss? Her fear is not something a tad bit heart wrenching like dying alone, himelf, despair or becoming his parents--its "irrelevance". And not in a good way.

If her discussion with the Nightmare itself was any indication, this fear of "irrelevance" is not the fear derived from all of your actions amounting to nothing when you are trying to achieve a greater goal. It was the fear of someone simply being removed from their powerful perch.

Her discussion with the Nightmare was basically this: "You will not be able to maintain your power in the Circle at your age" "Not. A. Word."

It wasn't about an ideal, or some sense of a greater good, it was power simply for the sake of power. So she could not only survive, but thrive. She is a courtier scared of being thrown out of an environment she knows (the current Circle System), and is willing to crush emergent social problems (not solve them) so long as it means she herself will never have to face them.

In many ways, she acts the way she says the world does: "For those who value survival, sentimentality is not an option" and she fits her character introduction page to a tee "Vivienne fights to restore order in a world gone mad…so long as that leaves her among those left standing, once all is said and done."

The only character I hate is Vivienne (excluding the characters we are supposed to dislike). With Sera at least the character was well written. She has depth, even though she can be annoying. Vivienne isn't even that. She isn't written to be nearly as smart as she/the writers think she is.

Origins: Rendon Howe, Branka, Both are twisted and evil and I know I'm supposed to hate them but I enjoy murdering them in each play through.

Awakenings: Nobody I hate, I disliked the mother and the children she created but that was more because they were nightmare fuel.

DA2: Petrice and Leandra, Leandra just didn't feel like a motherly figure she felt more like my annoying flat mate. Petrice just because she's Petrice.

DAI: I don't actually hate anyone, I either like them or just don't care about them even Cory and his underlings which I think is because I'm more interested in how Cory came to be what he is. While both Samson and Calpernia you can sympathize with.

I'm shocked Sera isn't universally loved.

I can do without Viviane. There are times I can put up with her, like when she talks about decorations, but those moments are few and far between.

I think the only companions I ever truly hated , and I'm not sure it is the right word for it is...warden Bethany.

I never actually had warden Bethany but I've listened to her banter on Youtube , and  .

I don't really like Bethany to begin with , she's part of those overall irrelevant generic and vanilla DA character for me , like say Cullen .

Of course it's a matter of taste , but she went from vaguely annoying to nails on chalkboard.

Warden Bethany whines all the time about not being dead...Hawke saved her and it is terrible."Life sucks now , I was so naive...wish I was dead."Well girl , here's a cliff , let me push you...

Seriously who goes on and on about how they wished they were dead during casual talks in the middle of nowhere?

I rather like Sera, she does have her moments.

Most hated: Vivienne - her narrow mindeness, selfishness and hypocrisy are really annoying. But the worst thing about her is not that she is a horrible person, it's that she is written to never lose a verbal confrontation with the inquisitor or other companions, no matter how weak her position is. You can't offer intelligent counterpoints to her nonsense. She is basically the Starbrat from ME3 all over again. This is made worse by the fact that she comes across as incredibly petty and childish for someone who is supposed to be a master of the "game". Vivienne is completely without redeeming qualities to me.

Dishonorable Mention: Bianca

Cole has been my least favorite. He's just boring IMO.

Sera though, easily the best character in the series.

DA:O --

Easily Loghain, but he never actually gets recruited in my game states. He's always executed immediately. Alistair is always king. I can't get rid of Loghain and Anora quickly enough. I'll never support a slaver.

DA2 --

Easy choice, once again. It's definitely Sebastian. He's such a useless little ******. Sits around whining for years and letting his kingdom go to hell because he's soooo pious and above their political problems, then he finally goes home just to drag Starkhaven into war against Kirkwall, to kill innocent people in order to supposedly punish someone that's not even there. He's a disgusting human being. Sebastian is an easy pick for me as least favorite across the games. He doesn't even have the tactical prowess and war hero history that Loghain has, nor does he has the twisted "good intentions" that a lot of characters have. He's all about wholesale death for petty revenge and he knows it.

DA:I --

You know, as much as I'd have to say Inquisition was my least favorite group of characters, nobody stands out as someone I really "hate".

Sera annoys me. I wouldn't consider her a friend. Being around her is grating. I think basically every opinion she ever expressed to me is stupid. That being said, I don't think she's actually hurting anyone. She's afraid of magic, but never really acts against mages. She's biased against the Dalish, but certainly isn't really a threat to them. She helps people stuck in the lower rungs of urban society and she doesn't actively hurt anyone. I would easily murder-knife Loghain or Sebastian, because I think they're bad people and that manifests in the harm of innocents for no justifiable cause. Sera not only isn't unjustifiably hurting anyone, but she's helping a lot of people through being a Red Jenny. So, I wouldn't hurt her and I wouldn't turn down her request to join the Inquisition. She isn't someone I'd rather have a drink with, but I'd protect her and help her with her work with the Red Jennies as it's needed. I believe in what she's doing and support the lower class over the nobility just as much as she does. Our shared values on that far trump the fact that she's annoying as a person.

Vivienne is probably actually my least favorite character from DA:I. I skimmed through several pages and it seems like my two choices here, Vivienne and Sera, are pretty typical for Inquisition. I think Vivienne is ultimately less redeemable than Sera. While Sera wants to help people, I see Vivienne as standing in the way of progress for her own selfish reasons. The best outcome for her is the worst outcome for mages, at least by my perspective. I realize not everyone agrees on this point. I don't judge Solas either way at this point, so in my world state I see Vivienne as the only one that poses a continued danger to the Thedas I'd like to see. That being said, I think Vivienne is less harmful and more palatable of a human being, in general, than either Loghain or Sebastian.

I have to wonder if something just didn't convey right with Vivienne? She seems very unpopular. Maybe it's because she never really opens up that much? Even her personal quest leaves you wondering if she ever cared about Bastien or if she was just using you both, since the whole thing was a political move. (I think she did care about Bastien, but won't let that keep her from making the most of the situation based on conversation with her, but I get why people would doubt it.) Maybe you were supposed to believe she was more genuine about her beliefs in the Chantry and the Circles, rather than more of a Bhelen type opportunist option, where it's all just clever politics. I don't think so, though, because of how clearly it's made that she's deeply entrenched in Orlesian "game" politics. Maybe it's just that this sort of duplicitous character type doesn't have much appreciation, generally speaking. I just sort of get the feeling it was intended for her to be a more polarizing character, rather than only having a small minority of fans and a large amount of hate.

Not counting Sera? damn as she is the only one i truly think is the worst character Bioware has ever created..but very well i have a small list of characters i dislike all fairly equally:

Fenris , Anders , Tallis , Dorian and Vivienne.
