I don't hate anyone, but I find the 'new and improved' Anders of DA2 to be a drag.  It's made worse by him being so great in Awakenings.

For DAI it's Blackwall, but I don't hate him.  I just don't know why he's there, you could take him out of the game and I wouldn't miss him at all.  His story doesn't interest me and I'd rather that effort have been put into the main quest line instead.

I guess they both have one thing in common, they're always feeling sorry for themselves and don't often lighten up.  *shrug*

Funnily enough I really disliked Sera, but after I gave her a chance she quickly became one of my favourites.

When I first played Awakening, I couldn't help but find myself being a bit annoyed by Anders. There was just something about him. Of course, I still thought he was worse in DA2, but I actually like that he was a bit of a drag. It made me enjoy the rivalry with him a bit more, and of course ultimately knifing him. The only companions I ever truly liked in that game were Sigrun and Nathaniel.

I found it hard to like any of the new companions, but that may be because I was missing the old gang and was being stubborn.

Yes it makes killing him all the more fun!  I'm gonna do a mage run soon and that means being his mate, maybe even his LI.  Sheesh.  <_<

The Iron Bull; never use him on quests, and keep it on a business level ay the home case. Blackwall is also benched until post-Divine duties are required. Sera also sees little action, but that is more due to her incomprehensible way of speech.

One is supposed to dislike Vivienne, but I relish her snarky banter with the other Mages. Highly recommend taking her along to hear it.

Oh, I'm the opposite! Awakenings Anders got on my nerves quite a bit, while I'm finding the "evolved" DA2 Anders quite interesting. Although... I'm only half-way through DA2 right now and can imagine changing my mind by the end of the game, as I understand he becomes more radicalised as the game progresses.

I quite liked Sera when I played a Trevelyan, but now my canon Inquisitor is Lavellan, and I've accepted that Sera and I will just never get along. Still don't hate her though.

Same for me. No matter how much I try my canon Inquisitor Lavellan (female rift mage) has never been able to become friendly enough with Sera to get the cookie conversation... At one point I really disliked her mostly because of this and how disrespectful she was. Then I played my alt Inquisitor (rogue male elf) for the first time, completely prepared that Sera would probably hate him too and then she completely surprised me when they became best friends. She has been one of my favorite characters ever since. I guess she just really likes people who talk straight and don't try to flatter her.

I think part of the problem was that even though my warden was with Alistair, if she was single and it was possible she'd have gone for Anders.

So I go to DA2 and whaddya know, there he is and he's available!  Oh, but he's banging on about mage freedom all the time and constantly feels sorry for himself.  Well crap.  I ended up bailing and re-starting the game, even tho I was on Act 3 already.

So that was my first experience with him and it's left me feeling the same way ever since.  Perhaps having him as a best mate instead of a LI will make it better for me.

I do the same, I like to have someone my protagonist doesn't like each playthrough so I can explore being a character's LI, best friend, and rival.  DA2 is so good for that, and now I can't stop doing it in every game I play hoping that there'll be some hateful dialogue or event that triggers.   Which went very well with Zevran, naughty little elf surprised me real good at the end of Origins.

My characters always talk straight though... I think it's a personality clash - my Inquisitor is a serious, magey elf, everything Sera hates. I find I have to choose the humorous dialogue option not to ****** her off, though sometimes there's just nothing I can say that will save the situation, eg. that talk after the Harmond incident.

Would it change if your character was also pro-mage? My Hawke is pro-mage and she's ok with him (though even now he's starting to sound like a broken record). Now Fenris, on the other hand... He's very cute, and LI material, but my Hawke has to be extremely diplomatic with him...

Vivienne. Funny how the woman who claims all mages should be in the Circle spends as little time as possible in the Circle herself. Funny how she completely dismisses most Circle mages' claims of suffering abuse when (again) she herself never lived in, visited, nor looked into the Circles where the abuse was said to take place. I mean, her Circle wasn't like that, therefore no Circles were like that, right? And spending all her time at Court, lavish parties, and her Duke lover's chateau makes her such an authority on what's going on in the Circles, right?

Same here. My Mage Lavellan talked straight, but Sera just didn't like what she had to say. It was a fundamental personality and philosophy clash. Sera hates magic and elfy stuff, my Lavellan loved magic and elfy stuff. It was never going to work. What little approval I got was from choosing the humorous dialogue options, but otherwise they just clashed too greatly in personality and beliefs to ever be besties.

Vivienne. I mean, Morrigan had similar faults, but she had a lot of redeeming qualities, whilst Vivienne has hardly any.

Honestly, approval is all about what kind of major story decisions you make + companion quests. I did them all, and was friends was with everyone in my completionist playthrough. I wasn't absolutely besties with Viv so I didn't get that crappy, totes useless Formari ring, but she didn't despise me like she does in other playthroughs.

While I agree with some that I prefer not to go as far as saying "hate," I've never liked Vivienne.  I don't like people who are too comfortable and smug about their own truth.  I was also really disappointed with the character of Sera, as I had anticipated really liking her before the game came out.  She's essentially a fussy, petulant child with weird motivations and an inability to be reasoned with.  On the flip side, I really thought Cassandra was going to by uptight and annoying, even in the early part of the Prologue.  But she turned out being one of my favorite characters.

Why?

Because the warden isn't a pup he had to stop with that unplesant word a young dog is a pup not a person.

You don't call a 19 years old famous person who won several tournaments in the nation a pup in front of everyone else it is not affection to me is a form of humiliation.

And I prefer to pay respect to the father of a man instead of being an arrogant child. But that it the nature of RP.

Well they're still living in Bryce's house eating up all his food, paying no bills, and did no chores for 5 years.

I don't really hate any of my companions. I dislike some of them, some of them I even dislike so much that I refuse to recruit them in certain situations.

But if I had to name my least favorite companion, it would be a tie between Sera and Viivienne. Sera because she'll totally bash on other religions just because they "don't fit" with her view (Geez Sera, I may not believe in the Maker but you don't see me calling other people stupid/demonized for it.).

Vivienne is a bit more complicated matter. I don't fault her for her views--some of them are actually quite founded in fact--but I do fault her for willfully neglecting to look at other views or even downright refusing to even acknowledge that there may be other sides of the story. She'd rather continually pay lip service to the "proper" way of viewing things that layers her personal opinions while all the while knowing in her own heart that other factors at play that are contrary to what the "proper" view is. She'd rather push those views away than critically look at them. (Dialogue with Cole and Solas highlight this).

She's like the Orlais version of a pre-personal quest Iron Bull only without the charm. Otherwise she's a delight to hang with.

When you're the second most powerful lord in the realm you call your kids whatever you please. Particularly when your resume includes "winning a civil war" and your kids resume included "beating up people in iron suits with tourney weapons".

Vivienne the stuck up ******

Plus Blackwall, don't get me wronged, I liked him a lot - thought he was a badass - till I found out his true identity. I kept him around but never really trusted him after that.
