Boss fights should start with full potions

I'm tired of playing a story mission on Nightmare/hard, get a "little" bit careless with popping potions and taking damage and then to suffer when I get to the boss. Fight bosses is actually the most unenjoyable part of this game. It's just straight frustrating having to run around and spam revival on party members. No, barrier and guard doesn't keep up. Party members love to die and stand in AoE.

I've had to reload two different missions before because of the lack of potions. You're locked into this hole of what I can't even call a boss because you can't run out of the room to restock. It's this kind of **** that has plagued Dragon Age 2 and sucks that it shows again here. It reminds me of the cave in DA2 Act 1 where you run into a blood mage right at the start. You realise your team comp isn't best for this, but screw that bro. You're **** out of luck. Better load that save you had so you can kill trash and talk to the templars all over again. Running out of the cave to redesign team comp would break the story-line. Forget being a tactical-RPG, shits gotta be on rails like Mass Effect bro.

Loading a previous save and re-clearing all the trash again, going through dialog for the sake of the role-play is nothing but pure frustration.

Minor issue in the retrospect of things, but I just had to vent. Good day. :D

You could somewhat mitigate the issue by making sure you take the Extra Potions Perk (so you have 12 healing potions instead of 8), if you haven't already done so.  IIRC, there is something called Healing Mist and a Regeneration Potion, in addition to normal healing potions.  Slotting Healing potions, Regeneration Potions and Healing Mist should help.  Of course, this requires the Perk that opens up the 3rd potion slot.  You could also craft items that heal a certain percent every 10-15 seconds.

Problem with dying, turn down difficulty. You shouldn't play NM then gripe about something like this.

The recent incedent that I ran into this problem was too early in the game to pick up the perk. I havn't heard of the last two things you mentioned. I'll look into it.

Bioware answered to the calls for nerfing potion spam, and the people rejoiced. Let us not re-enter the dark ages. Potions, and health should be things to be concerned of, not just in the current fight, but in those to come. The challenge brought upon by this makes victory all the sweeter, and gives us the hard decisions along our journeys to keep the game interesting.

What we wish to avoid is every battle being an identical encounter to the last, and what we espesially wish to avoid is anything that makes an easy game even easier. Not everyone should be playing on nightmare. That should be a ridiculous difficulty reserved only for the most hardcore players.

What you are describing. That is what makes a game interesting. You enter a battle unprepared, or with improper gear, and you adapt. You fight against adversity. Make due with what you have. It throws off the routine and forces you to try something new, and that is good.

I never found potions to be a hassle in nightmare.. never ran out of them.. though I always focused on locking down the enemies whilst the warriors chopped them up.

Don't most bosses have health potion chaches right before them?

I can't say I have ever had this problem in this game.  I rather enjoy preparing at camp for a jaunt in the forest/swamp/desert/castle.  Make sure I got my potions:

healing potions stocked...check

rock potions for Blackwall...check

The Bees potion for Sera....check

Mana Potion for Solas....check

Maybe I am a patient kind of guy that likes to smell the roses and enjoy the sights.   :)

Well that and... this is working as intended. They've given you a potion limit and taken your healing spells for a reason, OP.

If you don't like it, turn down the difficulty.

Are you serious? Do you want to make the game even easier? Don't play nightmare then or start playing tetris. For real, thanks to people like you we have games like COD with hp bar that regenerates.

In my opinion nightmare is still too easy. It supposed to be a real challenge, a level that makes you cry, something only the best players can handle.

Just that if you don't enjoy the game on certain difficulty then lower it rather then trying to justify some ego boost...

Personally i never had issue with potions and boss fights mostly coz i was already decently geared before bothering with main missions.

And there are always those regen pots or even heal grenades so plenty of healing around

The only problem I have is that when you start a story mission, you have to make sure you restock your potions beforehand. Not the healing potions, any other potion in your loadout. Or indeed having some kind of auto-resupply function for them.

It also kinda made me hate the Mage quest a bit. Since Dorian isn't playable before, you can't give him any extra potions. And he has no starting skills so he'll waste a few just in the first fight...

I also think the healing caches in those missions are a bit of a clunky mechanic for those cases where you can't return to camp to restock. In particular, having to remember to use any healing potions you had left to heal everyone before you use the cache. Or saving them for later hoping you can remember where it was.

Someone playing on Nightmare/Hard mode is complaining the game is hard. Wat.

In Hard, this game isn't even vaguely challenging.

Make sure you save (not quick save) every time before you pick up a supply refill is what I found works best. AI can chug potions real fast if it decides to bring ranged characters into melee range for no reason.

If you quickly open the menu before the guards engage, you can set up his talents and his equipment. I've always been adamant about set up of my characters that I immediately go into their skills when I get a chance to control them. Guess it was luck that I happened to do that this time around.

Nothing like going into a fight with nothing but your stick in your hand.....
