I forgot to mention the most important consideration, in my view:
CROSS-PLATFORM ME3 MULTIPLAYER.
It's far more likely that MP wouldn't be included at all. MP-support ended 2 years ago and there is a new ME game coming out in the near future.

They ended support a year after release? Or do you just mean they stopped releasing new content? I don't play MP, but if I did, I'd be pretty miffed if after a year, it all went t-ts up and EA were like "We no longer support this product. Goodbye."
Aside from Master Flynn's list, there are two things that need to be done in order for me to buy the stuff. Namely No Planet Scanning and ME1 combat mechanics overhaul.

No new content, no new patches, no more weekend challenges.
You can still play it just fine but there is no active developer support. Bioware promised and budgeted 1 year of post-launch support.
Considering that MP was a huge success and allegedly made more money through micro-transactions in one week than was planned for the whole first year, support will probably be better for the next game.
Why would be cross-platform be so important to you?
And as far as I have heard it's not an easy thing to do, especially between xbox and playstation, for hardware and legal reasons.
I was primarily thinking about PC-to-Xbox via Windows 10's Xbox Live features. Sorry, guess I should have been more specific.

I don't know about cross-platform, but I like to have the ability to move my 360 manifest across different platforms. Moving it from 360 to XBone shouldn't be a problem since Borderlands did it. I don't know if moving it to PC or Sony would be possible, though.

Also an excellent point.

It sounds like it might be doable if your Origin ID, Xbox Gamertag and PSN ID are all registered under the same Bioware Social Network account.
More specifically, after merging two Origin accounts with the help of EA Customer Service, I used Dragon Age Keep to import my Dragon Age Origins + Dragon Age II gamesave/gamestate data from my Xbox 360 into a custom World State.
I then double-checked its Tapestry to ensure there were no discrepancies between it and what the key decisions that I made were in my DA1 + DA2 campaigns.
Finally, after confirming everything was as it should be, I exported the aforementioned World State to all sub-accounts, and this made it possible for me to import it into both my PS4 and PC copies of Dragon Age Inquisition - again, no discrepancies at all, which was a huge relief.
The point I'm trying to make is that Bioware could probably do something similar for the Mass Effect trilogy for those of us who are looking to migrate the necessary data to another platform. The biggest challenge for them would probably be Mass Effect 1, as I don't recall it having a direct connection option to the Bioware Social Network. On the other hand, ME2/ME3 and DAO/DA2/DAI obviously do.
Just how they'd get around this issue, I can't say for sure, but perhaps it would be implemented in the form of a very belated ME1 patch. That or, since ME1 doesn't have a MP mode, they'd probably just ask players to manually input the choices they made with respect to the game's narrative (e.g. did Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams survive on Virmire), in which case it would then be the easiest of the three to implement, but I digress.
The Mass Effect trilogy never gets old for me. Although not perfect (but what is?), it is so well done in my opinion; so immersive; so memorable and emotionally gripping, that I absolutely consider it the original Star Wars trilogy (episodes IV/V/VI) of gaming, and I'm sure I'm not alone in my love for the franchise. Sorry, I know this is completely off-topic - I'll shut up now, good day and happy gaming :-)
