While that would be touching, it would ultimately be superfluous and too self-indulgent.  Resources should be spent on things that....matter.  Like actually upgrading the game.

I don't see why they can't do it since it doesn't have to be too costly. If the games going to have all the DLC and improved textures a small tribute him isn't out of the question they could dedicate the remake in his memory.

Hi forum, like the guy in post 157, I also made an account for this thread, as I'd really like to see a remastered version. I'll probably also won't stay here too long, but stick around a for a few days, depending on how active this thread is. =) After running around it for quite a while I just finished the trilogy yesterday for the first time. ME is a great series, especially the first two. Should a remaster for the new console generations happen I would buy it without a thought if it's not just graphical updates and bugfixes, but polished the experience and included the DLC.
The former would happen anyway, I'd rather focus on a few minor gameplay aspects in this post, which I feel can be implemented to improve the experience. And +1 for PC version, I don't have a console and I won't buy one.

- ME1:
    - quicker planet exploration (nitro for mako or something like that), it gets exhausting after a while, especially with all the mountains.
    - cleaner inventory. Stacking items would be nice and the option to sell/omnigel per stack. This would already help a lot without changing the whole system.
- ME2:
    - remove recruiting restriction
    - planet scanning: grew old on me towards the end of the game and it probably would be annoying for another playthrough. So faster ressource gathering (maybe optional) would be a nice touch, as others already stated.
- ME3:
    - upgraded journal
    - Tali's face: Let her keep the mask on or render her face for a consistent experience.
    - some visuals of minor parties you recruited in the final mission (Rachni, Omega mercs and the like)

I used standard male Shepard for all three games, but apparantly existing issues with transferring faces between the games should be adressed. Deleted scenes and content also sounds very nice, I'd like that. One guy suggested a history editor, which I'd also approve of.

Major gameplay overhauls that some people suggested are not likely going to happen, and they are not necessary. I feel both the more 'pure' RPG feeling of ME1 and the duck and cover shooter with RPG elements for ME2 and 3 both fit very well into the mass effect world. A new ending also is unrealistic and unnecessary. The final scenes are somewhat cheesy for sure, but please don't waste energy and ressources on that. If you plan on doing a remastered version, it's also a chance to polish the experience and include some stuff that had to be left out for the final release of the games and didn't fit in any DLC. Who knows, maybe we are in for a few small surprises (I'm an optimist, I know)? But since new content also has to be provided for PS3 and X360 users, it's unlikely too much will be added. Otherwise there will be many people very angry.

Cheers

Edit: Edited out what didn't add to the topic, added some stuff.

I like the idea of integrating the DLC into the narrative to fit better. Obviously everyone is going to want a noticeable improvement to the graphics and textures and things like that.  I would love to see them do something about the combat in ME1 but I understand that is not likely to happen.

As for ME2 I'd like to see the restriction on the recruitment missions removed, the dialogue is already there if you want to recruit Samara/Thane/Tali right from the start. And do something about the planet scanning. They would need a Mass Effect equivalent to the Dragon Age Keep as well.

And yes the Mako needs some sort of speed boost for climbing mountains.

I know it's already been kinda said, but I'm gonna say it again. I like the Renegade/Paragon system in ME3 and would love to see it in ME1 and ME2. The first two games felt like they punished you for playing a neutral character, or even a mostly Paragon person with Renegade moments. It felt like I had to go all the way Renegade or all the way Paragon in order to unlock or see all the events and cutscenes. Whereas in ME3, you had the 'Reputation' which effected choices and added your Renegade/Paragon/Neutral scores together. THAT is a way I'd love to see it done.

Honestly other than  updated graphics with better textures I would not change a whole lot.  Maybe better inventory management for ME 1?   Perhaps tinker with ME3s UI such as the journal system?  Other than that just include the DLCs as part of the package.

Keep the sexualized outfits. It doesn't hurt anyone. Get the stick out of your butts and stop being so prudish.

None of that is going to happen, especially the ending since the game is nearly 3 years old and Bioware said they are sticking with the guns after the EC.

Yeah not really realistic to expect them to change up the content and I wouldn't want them to.  I would rather that most of the ME team work on the new game.  Just touch up the old games for the new consoles but focus most of your work and effort on the new game.

And Bioware have said many things that have never turned out to be so.

If they wanted to change the endings they would have already done it when the EC was released but they didn't they've stuck with their guns. People just have to accept the fact the endings that we got are here to stay and nothing is going to change that. Not to mention Bioware are fully focused on the next game so making new ending content for a 3 year old game is just going to be a waste of money.

yep you are right and its ok
I'm not a fan of the endings but its time to move past that

I still want a Remastered Trilogy though for my PS4
hopefully they actually make one since they still haven't confirmed anything

Personally I think the concept behind the endings is great. It's just the execution left a lot to be desired but that's for another discussion. I think the latest to expect an announcement for a HD remaster of the trilogy will be E3 since it would go well with the announcement of the next title.

People need to get it into their heads that they are not going to change endings.  Nor would I want them using time and resources doing that when they should be working on ME next.  Touch up the trilogy but don't change it.

You may end up being correct, however no one can make any arbitrary statements on what will or will not be included in a hypothetical remastered version.

Bioware had several opportunities during the one of support for the to add new ending content and they didn't. What would have been the best time to add new ending content?

a: a few months after the release of the game where the uproar was still massive and would be in the dev's best interest to develop a new ending as soon as possible before any additional content can be sold.

or

b: 3+ years after the game has been released where dev support for the game has been stopped and more focused on the development of a new title in the franchise along with the uproar for the game has completely died out.

It's quite obvious what would have been the best time to do it. Also keep in mind remasters generally use very little resources in development not to mention dev's don't want to spend to much in their development either. Adding new ending content will be extremely costly and Bioware aren't going to spend money in the development of a HD remaster since HD remaster generally sell very little.

I didn't say they would or they wouldn't do anything beyond upping the GFX. I said no one can make any arbitrary statements on what will or will not be included in a hypothetical remastered version, unless you're a fly on the wall in the Bioware offices....

No one is making arbitrary statements, they are just being realistic about what to expect in a HD remaster.

Improved Stability for ME 1 and 2.  (1 Primarily)

Would also like to see hints at future content (the terminals in halo were an awesome way to do this)

I would like to see several new maps and characters (hopeful but not expected) for the multiplayer portion of the game. These new maps would take into account various locals from the previous two ME titles, places like Haestrom and Ilos, with at least one uncharted planet inspired level with wide open spaces for sniping and possible (hopeful but not expected) Mako traversal.

If new character kits are possible, then the following classes in order from most likely to least likely (although all still highly desired for future tittles) should be added to the ME MP roster:

• Krogan Shaman - Female

• Salarian Soldier

• Blue Suns Mercenary - Batarian Engineer

• Elcor Soldier

• Rachni Brood Warrior
