OK. I'd love a Mass Effect trilogy remaster as much as the next guy and ,since you don't actually need Bioware (Montreal is already deep into the next ME game and Edmonton is busy with the new IP), it could actually happen. Current gen remasters are becoming more and more common, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Halo, GTA:V, Sleeping Dogs, etc. There may be a few other noteworthy examples but I think those are some of the biggest ones. The main thing, in my opinion, is whether or not EA decides that the money necessary to deliver this would be worth it. For instance a GTA remaster was a no brainer, everyone knew it would get a current gen port eventually. But when it came out it was more than just a port. There were gobs of extra content, the most significant of which was the addition of first person pov.
Now in the interest of not getting sidetracked, I'll move on to Mass Effect. There are many things that could be improved upon, not hating on the games, just saying there is always room to make a game better. So I'll start with a list of things that would be fantastic but will not happen.
-Improved character creation- More variety, better looking default models, better hair, mostly the ability to make good looking, or at least interesting looking player characters. I was able to create a few half decent male Shepards but all my female attempts fell flat. This won't happen because of the extra money it would cost for only a little payoff.
-Additional Cut scenes-Yes, it would be awesome to get even a few extra minutes of battle sequences at the end, showing off all the assets we spent time gathering. I think there was a sprinkling of this in extended cut, but I only played through that once. Also, I'll roll this in here, some more meat on the front end. The prologue felt empty and rushed to me. Don't know if anyone else feels that way, but it wouldn't even require any extra dialogue from the main cast. Could be relatively easy.
-New Missions-A way to spend more time with the game, but in a new way.
-Redesign ME:1-Not necessarily a complete overhaul, just streamline and polish the combat a little, maybe retool the powers and abilities, more varied weapons and armor, etc.
OK, now some things that might happen.
-Improved textures- This goes without saying, if you don't make the games look better then what's the point. All the above examples have this in some capacity.
-All previous DLC/ All on one disc- Having every shred of DLC ever released for the trilogy all in one placed would be a major selling point. I'm talking everything from Pinnacle station to the alternative outfits to the Extended Cut. This would take very little effort, and would sway a lot of people. Since I don't have my 360 anymore or a gaming PC I have no way to play the trilogy anymore, and this saddens me.
-Bring ME:3 multiplayer to current gen-Not sure what this would take but I loved the mp component of that game. A massive breath of fresh air amongst all the Battlefields and Call of Dutys.
-Multiplayer abilities in single player-Allow us to use the multiplayer powers in our single player campaign. here were a lot of fun things to do, especially after all the DLC. The swords, Omni-shield and flamer just to name a few.
those first two things are a must have for me. ive me that and I'll buy it. Give me the other two and I'll pay extra. Also some bells and whistles, pre-order bonuses, etc. would be very nice.
All that being said, Mass Effect is more of a nostalgic deal for me at this point, I just want to remember it fondly, remember the good times, and leave them in the past. What I really want is the next game.
