I think each type of crafting material should have a tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 version. That way we don't have to compromise on looks vs stats. I would prefer this to the dye system because it's kind of hard to imagine how one would dye metal. Also, we need more armor schematics so that every class doesn't look the same. It makes me sad that some of my companions have more interesting looking designs for their armor and I'm stuck with variations of the trenchcoat.

Well you could paint over it, but it just seems strange to do that. I think maybe there should be a "material knowledge" perk that increases your chance of finding tier 2 or tier 3 bloodstone because you are better at telling a good ore from a bad one or something.

Sorry to break it to you, miss, but people paint over metal for ages now. You're driving a car, i suppose? Go check it, it's painted, I assure you.

However the idea to diverse crafting materials looks fine. However I see the problem a bit other way - you might want to check out: CLICK

No, I meant it's just seems weird to me to paint over armor. But it's a video game so whatever. You don't have to be snarky about it.

Was in that kind of mood, you know. One you keep smiling at everything.

You also don't have to paint metal to change the color. You don't dye metal, but there are other physical and electrochemical processes that will change its color, such as anodizing, plating, bluing, galvanizing, etc...
