It always said elf for me and my canon HOF is a human so I believe it is a different Warden Commander.

ok thanks!!!! If it is an elf for everyone, I don't think it means the composer of the letters is the Warden Commander, simply they are the leader of that group that is searching the storm coast. Like a party leader. It always said elf for me and my canon HOF is a human so I believe it is a different Warden Commander.

The notes are written by one of the Dalish. They talk about sharing the song of Andruil with the fisherman who wants to join the Wardens.
The person they're talking about trying to find is probably Hawke's Warden ally.

I used to think the notes were written by Velanna about the Hero of Ferelden. But I was wrong. It's a random Dalish Warden writing about the Warden from HLTA.

This would've been nice if that were the case.
Hopefully we'll learn where the ferelden wardens dissapeared off to.

I thought the journals probably belonged to Velanna, since those are her gifts in Awakening. But I also understand that not everyone had Velanna alive/as a Warden in their game.

Isn't the person, the Grey Wardens are looking for, Hawke's Grey Warden friend? So they are looking for Stroud, Alistair, or Logain (sp?), I think. The journals reference the Grey Warden they are looking for as a male and my DOA warden is a female and so far my world state has been importing correctly. I think my warden is somewhere farther away and harder to get to, as she looks for a cure for the calling, or else she wouldn't be away from King Alistair so long. She'd at least stop back to visit him now and then (I pretend she does, no matter what). ![]()

I don't see how ppl thought the journal entries were Velanna just cuz you give her an empty journal in awakening. I never once considered it was her. And plus the empty journal was for her to fill with stories, also she always disappeared in my game looking for her sister sssooo yyeeaa
I agree, I never thought Velanna was writing those journal entries. Those entries have nothing of her distinctive personality in them.

I kind of thought the Wardens in the notes were looking for the Hero of Ferelden at first, because I still had no idea what the deal was with the Warden at that point. Only clicked come Crestwood that they were probably looking for Hawke's contact.
Glad I was wrong, because the notes were saying 'he' when referring to her and it was bothering me thinking my import screwed up. :S

Some make it sound people are dirt poor to buy themselves a journal unless they have someone like the HoF to give them one as a gift.

I kinda wish we could have gotten a letter from the HoF (if alive) to Warden-Commander Clarel, politely informing her that regardless of whether or not the HLTA Warden is under her command, she should stay out of Ferelden as it's not her jurisdiction.

I didn't think that the letter that we got was particularly ooc?
(Granted, my headcanon for my Dwarf-Commoner was that they were illiterate for most of their life and only learned to read as a result of Beraht having Rica pygmalioned to become a Noble Hunter, who passed on that education to her sibling. They are however an awful speller, but they've had a decade to improve that and their vocabulary...)

Seriously though. What kind of people just rip out pages from a journal and throw them on the ground? That's usually my biggest question when I find stuff like that.

Well considering that my warden told he will leave wardens after daa and yet still is one pretty much according to the letter and well if you are both (inq and warden) dalish or dwarf then pretty much automatically picks religion for the warden as well the warden if romanced leliana mentions to inq help restore her faith despite we can do opposite in dao.

Do you really have to ask?
Its a conspiracy, cassandra is part of the secret book stabbing society and those opposed to this society render their book stabbing useless by tearing all the pages out of the books and scattering them in the wilderness... whole reason weisshaupt has gone quiet, the secret book stabbing society killed weisshaupt's entire library... like corypheus with the wardens, they are being controlled by.... dog from DAO of all people...

Okay, since we are asking silly questions,
how do those pages that we find all over the place, stay readable when it's raining cats and dogs in places like the Storm Coast?

Blood Magic.
Those pages are written in blood and possessed by demons. If you read the other page, there's a lot of foul language from a pissed page demon.

Crestwood is the biggest offender, where you find a "soggy, but still legible" diary in Old Crestwood, that somehow has survived intact despite being under fifty feet of water for the past decade?
Yeah, even in a series with Dragons and giant holes in the sky that lead to the realm of dreams, that really pushes my suspension of disbelief to it's limits?
(And yes, I know it's possible as we've found stuff from the Titanic that's survived under 2 miles of ocean, but even they tended to be in safes, not containers built to medieval standards!)

Hmm, I always assumed the warden they were looking for is Anders.
