I just wanted to make a topic to see people's ideas for possible hybrid classes.

Basic examples:

Battlemage: Mage+Warrior

Uses Sword+Shield. Skills would be something like Spirit Blade (no Fade Shield), Warcry, War Horn, Death Siphon, Spell Purge. Good tank or off-tank DPS.

Nightblade: Mage+Rogue

Uses dual daggers. Skills would be Stealth, Fade Step, Shadow Strike, Fade Cloak, Horror. Good DPS or Controller. See how it works?

The idea is not to make a super overpowered class, but something that fits into the concept of the character.

What do you all think?

As long as there's no Assassin with access to the AW barrier/hit passive, or frankly - anyone with that passive - I'm all for hybrid classes.

I'd certainly welcome some Keeper/Warrior hybrid, or at least a Warrior with Guardian Angel.

Ah, that would be pretty cool... A warrior with Barrier would be awesome (no, not Fade Shield... god make that skill vanish). Essentially, a warrior tank+support class. Something to challenge typical roles for a class are awesome! Great idea!

Hybrids would be fun. Origins Arcane Warrior was a long time ago, and we've never had a mage rouge at all. But honestly, I wouldn't mind opening up weapon choice and including trees for the current jobs, if the balance would work out of course. As it is now, weapon choice isn't really a choice; I'm willing to bet everyone just picks their highest level weapon. It'd add a lot more customization that we used to have in MEMP.

Which is something that is saddening... People pick their best weapon is most cases because there is really no reason not to. The only exception is when I choose my Soulkisser (health regen) or Dwarven Waraxe (stamina regen) over, say, my Firm Tourney Axe.

Could call the sword and board mage Spellsword. Having a rogue with a two-hander could be interesting. Maybe make it an Avvar barbarian. Maybe a dagger or one-hander fighting akimbo and call it a Dervish.

I might go Battlemage with sword and shield, and the Spellsword have a two-hander maybe? Battlemage maybe should be off-tank/support whereas the Spellsword is Controller/DPS with Horror, Lightening Bolt, Whirlwind, Earthshaking Strike, and Mighty Blow?

Aside, a rogue two-hander would be interesting... maybe a Leader type? Using team buffs like Horn of Valour and Blessed Blades, but also Frost Flask to off-tank?

And the Dervish, you mean like a sword and dagger as opposed to dual dagger/sword and shield? That could be the coveted dual wielding warrior! Give him Spinning Blades, Twin Fangs, Charging Bull, and Throwing Knives maybe?

I love these ideas...

My brain, it is full of ideas. And caffeine.

On the Dervish, either 1H+dagger or 1Hx2 (or maybe two 1Hs could require a passive). Ideally that character would be Antivan.

Staff wielding warrior with Counterstrike or something similar as a feature could be the Thedas equivalent of a monk. A rogue with a staff could be a Beguiler type class that charms living enemies a la Sabotage. Maybe this time they will get a green/blue halo rather than an orange denoting an ally.

Oh, and Rage Mage needs to be something that exists. And by that I mean a caster with Devour. Possibly Tevinter. Because even magisters gotta eat.

I like the idea of hybrids. I think it'd be awesome, as an aside, if the hybrid classes could open treasure rooms for both classes they're working from. It would help to diversify which characters people could choose.

Good lord, that is a disaster of a thread... Fortunately for me, I know about Ctrl+F. You really need to find a way to clean that mess up if you want anyone else to understand it...

Aside, the Nightblade there isn't really what I was going for, and the Battlemage existed in Awakening, but again, this thread is about hybrid classes.

The way the thread is done is on purpose lol mainly because different people came up with the ideas. But anyway besides the point look over each page i promise you there is not one missing class. The thread lists every possible class, race, enemy and map that can fit into dragon age lore in some way or another. I would love any ideas you have tho know that each time i send the thread ideas off i do reorganize them. :)

Put everything in the OP, then collapse it with the

tag. You can even collapse things in inside of collapsed things like this:

So a samurai/mage type? That would be pretty awesome... sadly, it may get rolled in as a two-hander mage class, but I can see possibility there for some great options!

Yes, dual-wielding fighter with damage protection of mage. Unlike AW it uses warrior weapons.

The true Arcane Warrior should have been what the OP describes as Battlemage. Sword and Shield, Tanking abilities/passives, a little offensive spell casting, more or less a Paladin/Support role, and preferably Heavy Armor. That is the original concept of Arcane Warrior. That thing we have on DAMP called "Arcane Warrior" is an abomination. It looks more like DA2 Fenris on steroids.

I imagine they might go down that path towards the end of their planned DLC. Much like they added some rather crazy kits in ME3's multiplayer, what with the Omni-Tool bow, Krogan with giant hammer, a playble Geth Prime and the like. Before that, I'd expect them to play more with the way warriors and rogues are effectively split into two subclasses each (sword and shield vs 2h, daggers vs bows). Like a warrior tank with a 2-hander (Block and Slash instead of Shield Wall)

I would kill for a Mage+Dagger Rogue hybrid. They could make some cool skills for it, assuming the DLC progresses like ME3's did and they start getting more creative and adding new abilities instead of only using SP ones.

You could have these hybrid classes and keep them within the realm of 'lore'.

examples could include

Spirit Warrior - warrior/mage hybrid

Fog warrior- warrior/ rogue

As for a mage hybrid, I've always entertained the idea of a Reaver mage. Imagine it would use a bit of necromancer and reaver.

Dragon Rage and Death Syphon FTW :D

Id like to see an Arcane Archer. And i could really see Fade step being quite beneficial for that character .

"Magick Archer" was probably my favorite class from Dragon's Dogma, they had some of the coolest skills.
