I disagree strongly. Incest is a much more black & white situation, which makes much stronger legal protection for the victim.

Because there usually is a victim, even if lawyers and testimony in a difficult situation can most likely muddle the waters considerably.

 

Nothing is black and white, not a single thing in life. How about we encourage people to not behave like a$sholes NOT at the expense of making other peoples lives miserable hm? 

 

 

Well, if "people live all their lives together and are in love", then it sounds much more like an unhealthy situation of possession and dependence to me, than "love". Kinda like something in a religious sect or something. I think I stand by my anti-incest law, as well as my arguments for it.

 

As for truly consenting, and independently responsible, I think I've already covered that.

 

Uhh, possession and dependence are a part of love in my eyes, without the two I would not call it a healthy relationship, so I disagree.

Regardless of if incest is right or wrong (not touching that with a 10ft pole), the birth defect argument is a little weak.  

 

A single first generation incest pairings have a lower likelihood for defects than a normal woman over 40 having a child. Arguing against one while actively helping the other (through IVF etc) is a bit crazy.

 

No it's not crazy. Just normal, inconsistent laws and values. Is there all over the place. If you try hard enough with sufficiently selective semantics. Also main reason law is changed all the time.

That something wrong, is currently considered ok, has never made anything else, that is also wrong, right.

It mostly has to do with the genetic deficiencies you create in offspring, which leads to problems in the species that could lead to extinction within a probability margin.

You know, one of the biggest reasons to argue against incest isn't necessarily genetics. It's that dating your cousin disrupts family bonds if the relationship doesn't work out. It's why it's okay to date a friend's ex but you shouldn't date your sister's ex - there's one person you're gonna have to stare across the table at for Thanksgiving and one person you won't. I submit Woody Allen and Soon Yi - not incest in any genetic sense, but since Soon Yi was effectively his adopted daughter and therefore his family, the fact that they ended up together tore the larger family apart. 

 

And as far anyone knows, House Trevalyan and House Pavus aren't in the habit of exchanging Nugsmass presents with each other. And House Pavus is already going to be upset that Dorian's dating a dude no matter what. And there's zero chance of you and Dorian having a baby together. So, no, dating Dorian isn't incest.

I am also shocked at the blatant disregard for peoples loved ones and families.  The selfishness is on a whole nother level.  I guess maybe I can understand from people that actually believe that there is only one single person for you on the entire earth and if you don't have a relationship with that person or they happened to die you will never have a relationship and be happy your whole life.  Even if it happens to be your sister.

 

And no regard for your own mother who created both of you or anything.  I'm starting to think a lot of things I classified as "trolling" on this site....really wasn't trolling.

Don't know about you or where you live but place where I live incest is incest!

It doesn't matter is it cousins or whatever or how distant they are...it still considered to be incest.

So OP is afraid when the inquisitor gets dorian pregnant, that the man-on-man spawned lovechild will have genetic defects? I don't really think possible effects on offsprings are really going to be an issue with this relationship, to be as blunt as a battering ram on the issue.
