I don't have Challenge. The only ability I've bought is Ring of Pain. Yet once in a long while, I get like 50% guard for seemingly no reason.
What am I doing that is giving my Reaver guard?

I'm pretty sure the reaver starts with devour and mighty blow. he states the only skill that he has added to that is ring of pain.
The only other explanation is you have a weapon or something that does it...although the fact it seems like you saying out of nowhere you just get half a bar of guard is weird.
idk something is off.

It's likely you have a weapon that casts Unbowed on hit. The Arishok Battle axe has a 2% chance to do so; other weapons may as well. It generates 10% guard per nearby enemy so getting a half bar can easily happen.

Oh, unbowed. It was using an Arishok Battleaxe with 2% to use unbowed on hit. Thanks.

Same thing here, though I think the Unbowed proc might be kinda bugged in multiplayer because it always seems to generate a lot of guard even though I didn't see a lot of enemies near me. Not that I mind, it happens so rarely it would be very frustrating for it to fire when you're just fighting a single wolf and only get 10%.
