A question, What are 2 good masterworks for a 2 handed templar. Guard on hit? heal on hit? horn of valour on hit? So suggestions would be good ming you the ones i listed are just some examples.

If Chain Lighting on hit wasn't bugged then that masterwork would be hands down the best for a 2 handed warrior. It is still good even with 0 damage given the sleep status but it is naturally not the same thing.

For 2 handed Templar I usually have +guard and 1% heal on hit. However it also depends on what you put on the pommels and shafts. If you use heal on kill there then you can go more offensive with the masterworks and put either Hidden Blades or 75% damage on the area (or either CL even if bugged if you want to use the sleep for detonators). I instead prefer to use +crit chance weapons and those (most of the times) don't have modification slots. I put Hidden Blades on Sera and/or Varric.

So I'm testing out templar on Cassandra.  I'm in the exalted plains.  I thought it'd be ideal for a templar (what with all the undead).  But the wrath/purge combo does nothing it seems.  Templar feels really weak against undead.  Templar is great against demons though.  I've actually seen rifts spawn undead.

Does this seem messed up to anyone else?

Yes specifically for undead zombies ONLY.  They are stunnable BUT the Eldritch Combo does not work on them SPECIFICALLY.  I am unsure if this is a bug or intended since zombies don't have brains that work...or maybe they do cause in DA zombies are possessed corpses..

For those of you who play templar....

What are your tactics against dragons?

I run a 2H templar.  My 8 abilities are:  wrath of heaven+, spell purge+, mighty blow+, block and slash+, pommel strike, earthshaking strike+, rally, and charging bull+.

Against dragons, I use charging bull to close distance, keep guard up by running through them, and avoidance.  I also use block and slash to completely mitigate most of their attacks.  Dragons are too dumb not to stand in the fire, so right after they move, they generally stand in one place for 10 seconds or so.  That's when i put down earthshaking strike (which seems to do a lot more than 20% weapon damage per second, some say it's actually doing 200%).  I use mighty blow and pommel strike if nothing else is up.  I also use spell purge to remove electricity rings or any magical effects that the dragon may do to me or my group.

Oh, and I die...at least once or twice.  But I have Viv specced KE with her only active abilities spirit blade, revival, and barrier, so I pretty much pop back up instantly.  And my whole group gets a huge damage boost.  I giggle maniacally knowing that when my enemies throw me down, that it only makes them die faster.

*EDIT*

Oh, and before it comes up, I have tried swapping out block and slash with combat roll.  It does help with my survival, but not by much.  I'd rather block and do some damage, than just roll away.

I have considered whirlwind over pommel strike, but pommel strike does 300% damage, is very cheap, with a nice cooldown (+ with my high crit chance, the cooldowns are insignificant).  Whirlwind does 70% damage and increases by 15% per rotation.  How many rotations does it take to equal pommel strike?  I admit if I could somehow hit three targets or thereabouts, whirlwind does seem better.  But against groups I already have wrath of heaven + spell purge, and against a dragon rarely do I hit more than 2 things at once.

As a SnS templar favouring dps, I use shield wall, lunge and slash+, shield bash, payback strike+, grappling chain+, spell purge+, wrath of heaven+. Against dragons, I swap out wrath of heaven for combat roll.

As for strategy, I just beat the dragon's legs using auto attacks or other skills saving shield bash for guard and payback strike for knockdown/stun. I use roll because I find it easier to maneuver around the dragon when it jumps around and to avoid the breath attacks. Dragonlings are immune to physical effects but not all dragons summon them. Spell purge to remove effects from electric dragons as mentioned above.

Shield wall when the dragon uses the leg swipes which are telegraphed heavily. The dragon will raise its leg before attacking so you do have some time. I try to stand 90 degrees to the dragon pretty much at its sides to avoid the head and tail whip.

I play the same style as penguin. An S N S off tank that focuses dps but I go deep battle master and grab horn of valor. So I run shield wall, shield bash, upgraded, war cry, charging bull upgraded, heavens wrath, Spell Purge, , horn of valor, Mark of rift

Ya I pretty much keep horn of valor up against dragons, spam shield bash as it has a low CD so I use it for dps and guard mashing and auto attack.. I block his big shots and tank the dragonlings if she has any.

Bigdawg. I saw that to for some reason the Templar explode combo will not work on undead. It will stun them but it will not trigger the combo when you spell purge. Maybe cause undead don't have brains? But in da they are demons I think it's a bug.

I wanted to update.  It only seems to be the undead in exalted plains.  Undead in the elven tombs detonate just fine and are stunned.  I do agree, it appears to be a bug.  Even still, they die so fast it doesn't matter.  I love my 70% crit ornate battleaxe with 120% crit damage bonus.  I didn't even equip prowler armor with +dex, so I could have done even more damage if I wanted to.
