Lots of the things said above, the main plot, the visuals, voice acting and banter. But what I really love is the sense of exploration we've missed since BG1. Yes there are problems, particularly with combat, but all the good things trump the bad in spades.
The Hinterlands and the Emerald Graves are probably my favourite areas. Both area beautiful to look at, have lots going on and are a joy to explore.
This game is so far ahead of the horrible disappointment of DA2. It manages to pip even D:OS to my GOTY, although I buy very few games, so it's a pretty irrelevant award. D:OS has the better combat (by miles and miles and miles), but DAI does everything else better.

What about "you're posting in the wrong thread" is difficult to understand for you exactly?
I mean almost everyone I'm sure has some problems with the game.. this thread is for positive experiences.. WHY do you keep posting?
'Bioware must dieeeeee' or something like that
You'd think people would end up finding a game they do like and then post on those forums, but apparantly this goes waaaay deeper. Emotions and stuff.

I am actually in love with Cassandra. Catching her reading 50 Shades of Grey Warden or whatever was really the only moment the game 'had me'.

I like the companions and the way you go about romancing them
Also the Approval/Disapproval
Weapon forging and how different armor looks on companions while they retain their style
I like the grinding aspects, gives me a chance and excuse to explore the world
And here's a positive that I thought was a negative at first: I like the healing system and how they removed healing spells except for the one that runs off focus, made me think about the fights I was getting into and made for a rather wonderful and tense scene at the Battle of Haven
So true. I've always had times when i've had no healing potions and I've just had to rely on reviving my companions manually, creating some pretty crazy fights. Definitely another excuse to use tactical cam as well.

Despite my ongoing battle with the PC controls/UI/tac cam/AI, with mods the gameplay is now very enjoyable, aside from the story itself which is great.
I enjoyed these features the most with DAI:
- Race selection (No more boring humans!)
- World of Thedas fleshed out like never before, large explorable environments with alot of attention to detail
- Music is excellent, including the enchanting tavern songs.
- Voice acting is great for the most part
- Characters well written, good humor especially with certain combinations of companions
- Attrition system with no healing (Yes, I don't like healing spells), encouraging more alchemy and tactics.
- Fun action gameplay, strategic gameplay still needs work - mainly with the interface however
- Immersive animations and movement (only noticable with the PC walk/jog/run mod)
- Mounts are great, from horses to harts to dracolisks to others (which I have yet to encounter)
- Non intrusive romance system (no gay Anders hitting on you and then netting you disapproval for example)
- Dragon fights are intense and rewarding
- Graphics and effects are excellent
- Diverse classes and gameplay styles.
- One of the best plot twists in the end
- Ending provides closure and is satisfying

You know, despite the problems, I think a lot of things on these lists are actually reflective of how much Bioware pays attention to these forums.
The dialogue wheel, and their improvements thereof, are an example. I remember the threads when DA2 came out...
Of course the game isn't perfect (I don't know of one that is), but it's good to see that they are at least attempting to listen to fan feedback.
Another example would be the involvement of previous characters. Not just cameos anymore. ![]()
The game breaking bugs need to be fixed, but I just wanted to point out that they're at least TRYING to make the game better for us.

I've always felt as if Bioware games are about immersion. Details.
Some of the areas that ou explore have nothing to do, nothing.
It's actually strange to have this in a videogame when you're supposed to always do something somewhere.
But the empty spaces just for the sake of it. I felt strange exploring those, but liked anyway.
And the Battle of Haven and the finding of Skyhold. Only seconded by the Suicide Mission on ME2 IMHO.

What I like :
1 - Finally can choose race (unlike DA 2)
2 - Excellent graphics, breathtaking environments
3 - Just the right amount of action and strategy gameplay style
4 - Crafting and ingredient collecting is well implemented
5 - Many hours of gameplay
6 - Windowed borderless mode. I cannot stress how important this is, and how many recent games don't have it (especially console ports). Gamers really NEED to be able to alt tab fluidly with minimal delay
7 - Potential for modding to improve replayability
What I wish it could have :
1 - More female companions
2 - Companions have their own mounts
3 - More tactics OMG
4 - More classes/specializations
5 - If I really HAVE to use a game client, I would pick Steam over Origin ANYDAY

Loving DA:I and I tend to just lurk these forums and never posted until now as I wanted to share my biggest positives about DA:I. I play on the PS4, usually on normal/casual mode as I tend to play more for the story and just roaming around, doing missions and picking flowers as that's what I enjoy doing =)
Exploration: I roam around the maps and just explore, admire the scenery, gather resources and do the missions and listen to the party banter when it pops up. Map sizes to me were good, not too overwhelming and they were different (One annoying issue I had with DA2 was the re-use of the same dungeon look, just different placement of the doors.)
Missions/Story: I have no problem with the side missions, the collection missions they are just something I do as I go and I don't get a feeling of grinding - honestly I've had worse experiences in other games with side missions and feeling the grind. The story was good though I wanted to see more in regards to the main story - more about Cory, the fade, the orb etc. I feel DA:I has left me with more questions than answers lol.
Companions: Some very interesting companions. I would love to see more discussions with them though. I like the approval/disapproval system to though would be cool to get some of the cut scene gifts like in DA:O where you give them a gift that is really special to them and they tell you why etc in a cut scene.
Healing: While I tend to always play a healer in other games, I am liking the new system of the potions, being able to hold X to revive a team mate (or using a revive spell). I do miss heal spells though I don't find it game breaking.
The War Table: Great idea, being able to gather coin and resources and having the missions give a different outcome depending on the adviser you use is great. Saves people from even more side missions ![]()
Mount System: Great having this, the mount is a better jumper than me a lot of the time.
That vault in Skyhold: For my Scrooge McDuck moments =)
In my view, I feel Bioware has built a good foundation for DA with this game, I know there are problems and is areas for improvement and for me the positives far outweigh the negatives.

There's a vault in Skyhold?
If it is what I believe it is, Yes. But it is pre-stocked with things already; would have preferred to have used it for display and storage of choice.

Here's my contribution:
- World is beautiful to see and explore. I also love the fact that open areas are REAL and don't force you into staying on predetermined paths. I had that fear before trying the game.
- Judgements at Skyhold are a cool moment, very cinematic. They also emphasize the plot of the game, which is a good thing in a game in which you spent 75% of your time wandering around in circles to collect objects and complete fetch quests.
- The wartable mechanic is a cool addition to the franchise. What about creating a real mechanic to manage it in future games and not just predetermined missions with predetermined outcomes?
- The game is well written like always, companion interactions are cool.
- I like the crafting, it's a cool addition, even if it forces you to grind even more.

Oh, where to start...
DAI has ensured I'd stay hooked on Dragon Age (loved DAO, DA2 was okay but a step back, and now there's DAI and it's great!)
- The story is great. I like the scope (the whole of Thedas is on the brink of disaster) and there are some real game changers (think the Grey Wardens) that not only impact this story, but likely everything that comes later. Sure, Kirkwall was supposed to have delivered the same, but DA2 was so narrowly focused on that area that I never got the feeling that the mage revolt would actually be something HUGE. (Could the story have been better still? Possibly, yes, but that's for a separate thread.)
- The characters and their development. It's not just that they are interesting and relateable on their own, but they work so well together. (The hilarious party banter doesn't hurt, or the fact that they seem to have opinions on key events whether they were present or not.) And it's not just the companions and the advisers either, there are NPCs (think Sutherland's little group) and the odd conversation being overheard (like training the recruits) that flesh out the world of DAI.
- The missions. Apart from a few exceptions, I don't think any of them are fillers (and those that seem way too formulaic, I simply won't do, so there). They all help build up this image of Thedas in the midst of chaos, so I really enjoy them.
- The choices and their impact/consequences on the world. Sure, we all know Thedas will survive (well, I hope so - still haven't finished my 1st playthrough, though I'm getting there), but I get the feeling that by tweaking the back-story or by simply going by my second response to a given challenge, I'll see something substantially different. For instance, in my canon, Varric didn't get to keep the piece of red Lyrium for Bianca (which seems to have been the smart choice), but what if he had? I definitely plan to find out.
Plus, the story goes out of its way to hammer this one in: after one too many "requisition" side quest, it started to feel slightly suffocating - not unlike being put in leadership position of a huge organisation and having to sort out its many and varied financing/logistics/etc. challenges. Role playing wise? A good choice.
- The War Table. Admittedly, this is partially covered already, but for me it just reinforces the message of being the one in charge of the Inquisition and having to bring strategy and tactics to the table. (Could it have been better? For me yes: why oh why are we allowed to comfortably finish all preparations, before the end game? No moderately smart foe would politely wait it out, but anyway...)
- The lore is brilliant, as always. And no matter how thorough I am, I'm certain I'm missing tons of stuff. Oh well, maybe the next time I'll spot them.
- The humor. I've heard people say DAI is not "dark" enough. In my view, it's dark (don't want to spoil it too much, but we have betrayal, ambition and the cost of, large scale murder, a bloody war, the loss of faith, etc. shown in detail - how much darker could it get?) So the bits of humor feel more than just OK, think: the Quiz-quisition or Josie's reaction to walking on in a certain pair, etc.
I could go on and on and on (graphics, etc.) but I'll try to stick to what's really stood out for me. Personally, I liked DAI in how it stood on its own and didn't just copy DAO.
Bear with me, while I explain: I love DAO (and not because of the reviews or the amazing fandom or the mods). When I started each playthrough I couldn't get bored of it. And no, I don't think it's perfect either, I simply like it despite any shortcomings (again, the parts that are less than ideal for me.)
BUT: I never wanted DAI to simply copy and paste something that's been done well previously, like "we had a well-liked, naive, slightly bumbling but heroic character named Alistair? Let's rinse and repeat, and it's guaranteed success." Sure, DAI seems to borrow from its predecessors and a number of other games, but despite that when I think of it, for me it has its own identity.

Cool thread. I was hoping for a place where I could list/talk abt things I really enjoyed abt DAI:
1. One thing I loved was all the dialogue choice. You had all the investigate options; special dialogue options; follow up questions. And they are unique lines of dialogue. It's not just the exact same lines but w/diff intent behind it. They are legitimate avenues of inquiry.
2. I also really liked the romance pacing and dialogue options. The flirtations were much more subtle and fun and clever. Not cringeworthy stuff.
I hope BW keeps the dialogue stuff like this (ME, too). Imo, it is just about perfect now.
3. The Inquisitor/Companion stories were very enjoyable. The individual character growth and personal interactions. I thought the characters were well written. Lots of little details. I've started hearing more party banter and music and wow does it make a difference having it.
4. Ofc, the visuals are stunning. The landscapes are amazing---and they know it. Footprints in the snow. Footprints in the sand. Even things like the taverns seem to be scaled in a way that makes you feel....enveloped by the scene.
5. The Bard. I hope we have that in future games. Plz.
6. The sound effects. The background noise of ppl talking; birds and dogs...or howling wolves...all of these things layered really helped to flesh out the world. Made it feel more alive because of the ambient sounds. More alive and more busy than it was visually.
7. DAI had just the right amount of random npc's walking about in towns like Redcliffe. Enough to make it look and feel lively, but not so many that I'm tripping over them just trying to walk.
edit: oh, and the Advisors. Tbh, I was really skeptical about how much I would like and connect with the advisors considering they don't go trek and battle with me. But to my surprise I they felt like Fam. They were woven into the action and story so well. I felt closer to them than some of the companions.

Cullen especially, since he is in the thick of battle with you on multiple occasions. Plus, when he raises his sword to the Inquisitor, I almost decided to romance him XD

List a few favorite things about this game that you like. Simple as that.
I'll go first.
I love talking to Dorian. To me, he is by far the most interestingly written character of them all. And I say that not being a gay male and I in fact would never do a gay romance option because gayness just weirds me out. I have no problem with gays, but its not for me. Yes, I am a male if you have to ask.
Also I have to say I think the Western Approach is my favorite area so far. I can't really explain it. I just think it is a really cool landscape with a very cool story behind it.
Lastly (for now), I really do like the way the Ability Trees are set up. I think they are really really good. I especially like the way there are branches so you can decide which direction to go on a Tree and all of them look different.
Not really in any particular order.
1. Maryden singing. The songs and her singing are enjoyable
2.Cassandra, and Josephine. I think they are a good Lls. Cassandra because of how the game begins, and then seeing her go to bat for you when she knows you were not guilty. Come on tell me you did not enjoy seeing her tell someone not your PC to be careful.
Some one commented in a discussion that with Josephine we get a Ll that "helps shatter the stereotypes that have been set in the past, like her being the virgin option of the LIs goes against Antivans (and bisexuals in a representation sense) being promiscuous" I like that.
3. The battle in haven through finding Skyhold. Though Cory does do the cliche gloating bit.
4. The War table. It was a nice addition.
5. Scout Harding!!! Need I elaborate?
6. That there is a Dragon Age Inquisiton. I would of hated for 2 to be the last Dragon Age game. Even a less than perfect game is better than no game right?
7. You can ride an undead horse with a sword sticking through it's skull without it trying to eat your brains or suck your blood. Any other game it would be trying to kill you. Am I right?
8 and 9 Siding with the Mages, and in other playthroughs siding with the Templars. Both to me have things that make either one a must side with at least once.
10. The Soundtrack.

I know it's just a drawing that has had countless hours poured into it, but there are a good many places in this game with just an outstanding view.
There was a part, in skyhold, where I was walking on the battlements to go see a certain spoiler person, and my Inquisitor said, "Oh, wow, that's...breathtaking."
It made me think of ME2: overlord, but, in both cases, they were right.

Well, I liked pretty much everything. The standouts for me were the characters (not a single person I found boring or irritating, no not even Sera) and the incredibly diverse, colourful environments.

Oh, let's see...
Hissing Wastes. To me, it's one of the best areas I've ever visited in a video game. I've always found deserts boring but Hissing Wastes is absolutely gorgeous and it has an amazing eerie atmosphere. I'd love for them to do some DLC here, maybe add some more side quests and tombs.
Emprise du Lion, my second favorite area in the game. I'm a sucker for snow. And three dragons? Hold on, just let me craft a fabulous coat and we'll do that ****.
But really, all the areas had something to offer and I'm very happy with the variety.
The graphics and audio are phenomenal. Crafting is addictive. And the CC is amazing once you get a hang of it - minus the hair options, of course.
The writing and voice acting were some of the best in a Bioware game, in my opinion. And this is coming from someone who was not such a big fan of Dragon Age. I always preferred Mass Effect, but right now they're on the same level for me.
Overall, I love this game. Yeah, sure, it's not perfect, but no video game ever is - unless you're looking back at it with rose-tinted glasses.
