yes, DAI is a sub genre of a rpg game but its a hack and slash dumbed down action game with some rpg elements in it. Not a proper rpg game by any means.
If DAI was a proper rpg game like users claim, it would have the following at launch:
- storage chest in each camp and in personal quarters
- campsite
- you can get married, divorced, have an affair, option for kids
- have pets
- chat with party characters whenever you want
- chat with romanced character whenever you want
- buy gifts to give to party characters to annoy and romance whenever you want
- interact with NPC's to an extent
- open barrels, lids
- open chests, not just click on it
- move pots and look under them, key? note?
- eat food for health and give to party members for health (find and buy in markets)
- change armor, weapons and items on the fly with party members
- swim, dive and look for items, chests, etc.
- experience current, tides and aggressive fishes, kill them
- watch other boats go up and down the coast and in the distance
- watch fish jumping
- birds and seagulls....
- buy a boat and explore whenever you want
- buy some land, build a place, customize inside and outside
- chose how long you want to nap or sleep
- watch a sunset and sunrise
- real time sky and weather effects
- if you wade in water, chest deep, you don't die
- scale all the way up and down mountains, not just die
- make a fire for the campsite, chop logs, crackling, embers, sparks, smoke.....
- randomly woken up from animals
- not a hack and slash game
- not repetitive
- no useless filler sub quests
- long game and not another short game
- all the things that DAO had should of been in DAI and from other real rpg's instead of taking away, simplifing and resctricting what you can do
- quite linear at times
- large empty areas to explore
- open and close barn doors and gates instead of nothing and jump over it
- be able to continue with romanced character after main quest is finsihed instead of nothing
- being able to walk over small rocks, logs, debris instead of getting stuck and have to jump over them.....really?!
A hack and slash simplified action game with some elements of rpg in it is what we got. There is a big difference.
I hope Bioware patches these issues back into DAI and that would go a long way to make DAI a proper rpg, but we'll see......they still haven't fixed the PC issues after patch 3.....
