How much do you want to bet on that? There are plenty of games that handle horribly that are only on PC.

Hell, the entire thing is that the control scheme isn't Dragon Age - but rather they've shifted it to the layout similar to that used by many (action) MMOs. Remapping and all is unforgivable, now.

There are. Bioware is not (at least till now) on that list for me seeing as I've been very satisfied with their previous mouse/keyboard controls in Origins/DA2.

Then comes along Inquisition, where the goal is to sell 20 mio. copies (as opposed to the usual 5 mio copies), now how to boost those sales? I know, next gen consoles! And more action oriented gameplay! ... <_<

Even ME3 had some warts from console limitations, namely the "magic button" that does everything (and ends up causing some pretty irritating mix in actions done vs actions desired).

Nah at least it is an actual action-rpg with a focus on action and NO (!) autoaim. And it has body part damage diversification.

DA: I pretends to be an action-rpg for no ****** reason and it HAS auto-aim with no body-part damage. And it doesn't focus on action because you have to watch over your moronic ai party members.

Then don't slam the consoles, slam the effort. In the past, Bioware's taken the time to make unique interfaces for both platforms. DA2 was even lauded because despite the changes in combat and all, the PC UI wasn't the same as the console UI.

Hell, as a console user, the UI in DAI isn't any better here. It's clunky, hideously slow, the characters never load and half the buttons are switched from previous titles for no good reason. Then there's the eight-slot limit console users get blamed for, when they had a system in place that worked just fine. How often do you really need to trigger Focus abilities, anyway? If you had the Radial menu around, no problem. But here, it eats up a full slot for something you might use once every half an hour.

It's the kind of thing where we don't need to fracture on matters. Don't split along lines and let ego and platform centric-ism divide us into camps. Everyone got screwed here.

Good points, and yes it does sound like it's worse than Origins/DA2 on console too. It just seems that the users who complain the most (and with good reason IMO!!) is PC users with mouse/keyboard. "Get a controller and it won't be as bad" people tell me , well %#"! that, it's supposed to be working with a mouse and keyboard.

@C0uncil0rTev0s: My party members in Inquisition are moronic compared to the über party AI I could set up in the tactics of Origins/DA2.

How many of these 8 million plus pc gamers do you think you scammed into getting their pre-order money with this console port?  Can't find the number for console Origin users online, but I'll guess it's nowhere near as many.

I know there was a big number of returns back in November (it's impossible to find those numbers), but even with that, it must have been a staggering amount of (dirty) money for a company who used to provide quality pc games.

I hope you enjoy it because, after this (and unless you hire a new team of devs with pc experience to patch this mess of a game) I don't see this trend continuing with your next title.

To be fair, some of that 8 million might play games using a controller, since that might be what they prefer.

More and more, I think we need to drop the "made for console" and use the more accurate term, which is "Made for controller" or "Graphics not optimized for Custom PC". The Xbox One and PS4 are no different then a Steam Box or low end PC now a days.

I know that maybe you mean well, but when was the last time you bought a console that had a mouse, and key board ?

or when was the last time you bought a computer that came with a hand held controler ?

People who use computers spend a lot of extra money to have state of the art, or as near as they can afford state of the art systems, and go to great expense to enjoy there games with the best graphics, and fun factor they can make for them selve's with a mouse, and Key Board, which is what they should expect.

I do not like controlers, I do have a PS3 which gathers dust most of the time, I doubt I will buy a PS4 ( Ever ) and you could not run fast enough to give me one of the new invasive XBox systems.

Yes I do have a controler, I use it for Console emulation on my PC where I expect to use a hand held controler, but I do not expect to use a hand held controler for a PC game.

I guess you mean, everyone should take there PC, and change it out for a Console, why spend any extra for better, let us all drive a Volkswagen. (Peoples Car) Everyone should have the same.

This was my FIRST PRE-ORDER EVER and it will be MY LAST PRE-ORDER EVER. Next time i will just wait a few months because already now prices are going down. I don't want to be fooled again in buying a pc game originally designed for consoles and adapted for pc with the most weak configuration possible.

- Very dissapointed with the not in any way usefull extras that come with pre-order and premium.
- Very dissapointed in the configuration of keyboard and mouse controls and tactical cam.
- Very dissapointed in the many many glitches and bugs.
- Very very dissapointed in Bioware.

Why is it that you pretend not to notice that the game plays shite also for consoles and you blame consoles for your bad experience? I think that's a litte unfair, not to say extremely naive. What are you, twelve? My kid thinks in those kinds of blacks and whites, and he's not yet into high school. Good grief already...

Excuse me, I'm being naive?

Please show me anywhere in my posts where I say it runs fine on consoles.  All one needs to do is briefly scan the threads on here to see that's not the case.  I am making absolutely no statement on how good or bad the console versions of DAI perform, as I do not own nor have played any console versions of DAI.

This post is about the pc version of DAI, how the pc version was pathetically designed, and a cross section of how big the pc gaming community is.

Judging from your sig, I think maybe you're seeing what you want to see here...

It would be accurate to say that DA:I was "designed for controllers". It just happens that consoles pretty much exclusively use controllers, so the two get conflated a lot. I wouldn't bother making such a distinction, honestly, but it's a reasonable position.

On the other hand, there are design decisions that are console-centric. Things like a lack of graphics options, locked framerates, low-res textures, poor scalability, neglect of API limitations, etc., all project an air of consolitis. These are just examples, mind, and don't necessarily reflect on DA:I, but "designed for consoles" is still very much a thing.

I had never been interested in forums before until DA:I. The only reason I found these forums was because of the modding forums for DAO and DA2. They were fantastic. (Bioware hosting modding!)  But I digress, it has been an eye-opening experience. I have learned one thing, don't get first cab off the rank AND check the forums first.

Hopefully this lesson will stay with me.

This.

I played with keyboard and mouse for about 20 hours before switching to controller. Playing a dual wield rogue. The thought occurred to me, "I feel like I'm trying to play god of war with a keyboard and mouse."

I'm tempted to do a solo nightmare run and pretend it's some odd dark souls spinoff.

Only time I've actually had to enter tactical is for dragon fights and to tell solas he's not a tank. Otherwise it feels like a 3rd person hack and slash.

When I bought DAO and all the DLC and Awakening Expansion, I used my PC keyboard and mouse. Loved it.

I pre ordered DA2 and was completely disappointed. Now I need a console with controller and my save game and choices meant nothing.

Did not pre order DA3 Inquisition, waited this time and I've read many reviews. Great for console and bad for PC. Great for controllers and bad for keyboard and mouse. And no save game from DAO either....

I also bought Elder Scrolls Skyrim, love that game too for my PC keyboard and mouse. It rocked. Played that a few times just like DAO.

Why not release a game for PC keyboard and mouse and another version just for consoles and controllers?

Content is the same, DLC's, etc. just different user interface, yes?

And if you made choices in a game, have an end save game, either import it to the next game using your choices and chacracter "OR" release a DLC that properly closes off the game, so we can start fresh with the next one. Not a difficult concept.

Apparently for programmers of the DA series, this is difficult.

I don't mind the PC controls BUT, the reason is that I played and, was a GM (game master) for a very old game, The 4th Coming, which had (still does if it's even still running) similar, nearly identical keyboard and mouse controls and, that was the only way you could play. (only diff was that it used the "F" keys rather than the numeric keys as DAI does.

So, Yes that's workable for me BUT, it's antiquated as gaming goes and, this is a 2014 game. Okay even if you sya it begane in 2012, still to use controls from 1991? Yeah it's fine for me but, I do see why so many are disappointed.

Read this thread (or this one) and then watch this video which was released by EA's marketing division about one month before the game was released.

Oh, come now.. Sera is very street smart and pragmatic to boot. Lacks a proper education and has a thick accent at times. She may see the world from the little people perspective, but she is not stupid.

Actually, her developed abilities rarely lands her near a fight. frightfully blind at first, mind you... but not now.

Thx for the vid review :-)

I just watched another review as well and basically, this guy said, very bi and gay pushed game, and its for consoles.....and wait for patches for the PC.

I really wish they would have a final DLC and close the game off properly, so we can start fresh with the next game OR import the savegame and use what you chose and romanced, and things you did in that previous game actually all matter and you can use your build up character.

I mean, mods are still being done like crazy for Elder Scrolls Skyrim and that game is a little old now.......and the current mods make Skyrim look so real, its crazy and the ladies look so real too, amazing.

bit off-topic... but shadow of chernobyl is quite old too, and that got a major rehaul released earlier in the year, namely Lost Alpha, and it's quite the renewed experience, very challenging too if anyone is looking for something fresh to play

I normally enjoy Angry Joe's reviews, but boy he either dropped the ball hard on that one or he got paid off, because he completely glossed over the PC control issues, which deserved a five minute rant of their own, and had the nerve to say the AI was good! I want some of what he was smoking when he played the game, because my experience was nothing like what he described.

was he even playing with a keyboard and mouse? looked like he was either on a console or had a pad plugged in, judging by the UI and how he moved around...

i vote dropped the ball hard
