Okay, so, I have the very costly rune schematics but not enough revenant hearts. Now, I read that you can farm them from certain rifts but that doesn't really help when I have only few rifts left and none of them spawns revenants. If that is the only way to get them, then I consider it stupid decision from BW's part, especially since that kind of farming shouldn't be necessary to achieve a unique item at least once, especially since I can buy the schematic. If you have a rune schematic in game, then you should have possibilities to craft the item at any point, instead of learning that you - without knowing it - pissed in your own pants and missed your chance for that unique item.

Is there really no other way to get them?

Only effective way of getting them is farming Fade Rifts with Revenants in them. I think its 100% drop-rate? Don't count me right on that.
Then after you kill them and loot, run out and back in and reset the rift.

Like I already stated, I have only a few rifts left and none of them spawns revenants, so that suggestion doesn't help. It should not be the only way, anyway. How the heck should a player know this in the beginning? The schematic is buyable only in Suledin and at that point it can be too late when it comes to rifts. I really can't believe that someone at BW thought that would be a great idea.

If you haven't already head to the exalted plains there is a bridge there that can be crossed. If you cross that bridge there is a revenant over there guarding a gate he will spawn when you destroy it. Take his hart and dupe it.

Well, even if manage to get that one heart, there's no way I'm clearing out my valuables when I have some important stuff in there. It would be different if we had a storage chest to put all that stuff for the duration but we don't, so all the items would be lost.

I unlocked the Temple of Dirthamen through a mission you get in the Exalted Plains involving collecting elven runes (and then completing a war table operation to research them) and even after finishing the temple's mission I am able to revisit it. There is an Arcane Horror that respawns each time I visit the temple.

 

However... I have two saves, one where I sided with the mages and my current one where I sided with the templars.

In the mage-side save, Red Templars spawned in the Temple of Dirthamen rather than undead. In my current templar-side save, I get respawning undead (including the Arcane Horror)

You can buy back your stuff after just dont leave the area before you do. I duped alot of dragon crafting materails after i killed them all on my saves.

But still, if BW puts a schematic into the game, then you should be able to cook up that item without exploiting a game bug or doing farming which you even didn't know was required to do. You close rifts. That is your mission from the start, it's what you are told to do and what you do. Then somewhere half way through the game you need an item, which you no longer are able to craft. And BW answer to that is: "You closed the rifts like we specifically told you to do? Ah, well, sorry kid, but you really shouldn't have done that." 

 

Unbelievable.

 

They should at least give us a DLC in which you can kill loads of Revenants to fix this blunder.

Okay, I've been trying to dublicate the hearts by using the trick here as suggested: http://dragonage.wik...s_(Inquisition)  ...but it just refuses to work. I have valuables which I don't want to lose, so I sold those first so that I could buy them back after. Then moved the hearts (5) to valuables and followed the guide to the letter. But the merchant still offers only five, when I try to buy them back. No more. In addition, all the other valuables I sold have disappeared and can't be bought back anymore. Did the patch 2 caused it stop working anymore?

as far as I know, it hasn't been fixed as it still works on the pc, sell all and sell have to be triggered at the same time for it to work. It kinda sucks but it's one of the only ways to get the amount of items needed for an enchant, since even after I closed all the rifts in the game, not enough contained Revenants, that and I am fond of using spell purge and dispel to diminish the amount of enemies a rift spawns, That kinda sucks that using the spells as they were intended to be used can gimp the materials you collect.

I'm on the Xbox one, but can verify dupe for revenant hearts does work. I had a hard time when I first tried to dupe. Important to hit the sell all button just before the sell one button - I try to hit them almost simultaneously.

The video provided is the trick i was refering too i just did it a couple hours ago.

 

If your on the ps4 like me just grab the item put it into valuables then go to the sell catagory and hit trangle x makes sure you hit x half a second after trainlge.

Sorry guys. Forgot to say that I'm on PC. I've been trying to click the 'sell all' and 'sell' buttons as quickly as I can but still not working. And everytime I end up losing all the other valuables, as well. This dupe thing seems to be easier on consoles but I'll go and try yet again and see how it goes, since it should still be working with the second patch.

 

EDIT: Nope, can't get it to work. I even tried the mouse/sell all + spacebar/sell combo as suggested on one site but nothing. I also ended up losing - again - all my other sold valuables several times and this time even the hearts themselves. The merchant's inventory was empty. I also tested this on two different merchants; Bonnie in Skyhold and the guy in Val Royeaux, the one who actually specializes in valuables and accessories. *sigh*  It's shouldn't be this hard to make a rune. Perhaps I should just give up and admit defeat.

 

EDIT2: It worked. It finally worked. Took about 20 more retries but it finally worked and I didn't even do anything differently. Guys... thanks for your help with this... so much.

AMAZING JOB I am glad it worked for you sense you get it how to do it now go on and dupe all the other bs extra hard to get stuff till the fix the drop rate issues. After my 2nd playthrough all i do now is dupe tier 3 mats sense killing a dragon yelds 2 dragon bone what??? ****** bs.

Exactly this. I have 5000 of each dragon mat. And nearly 1000 of each rare item. If a game is soooo bugged and glitchy, use it.

Yep, this is going to be my favorite thing to do in the game now, especially since it also works for fade-touched crafting materials, as well. Makes things a lot less frustrating now.

I get the deft hands fine tools perk asap so by level 5 me and my party are rocking tier 2 gear with fade touch obsiden. I get the obsiden from redcliff he he.

Oh, yes. That and the fade touched Silverite (though later in the game). Gotta love the stuff.

I saw the twitter message about the patch but was it actually said somewhere that they're fixing the duping glitch? Hmm, maybe not to update then. It's not like I have any major bugs with the game like others do (lucky I guess) and I can manage without the last mosaic piece from Hinterlands, in case they fix that one too while at it.

They haven't stated specifically, but if past actions are anything to go by, they consider 'balance' changes to be higher priorities than bugs, which as far as I can see basically means nerfs.

I had the same problem that op had. I had no choice but to do the dupe trick.
