What mage's staff has the highest DPS? In my first playthrough the Grand Enchanter's Staff ending up having the highest at 128, but in my current playthrough GES has 94 while Bloodwyke has 97. I also haven't found any staff schematics that build one with higher DPS.

Best staff is either the archmage staff schematic (raw att%), or the seer staff schematic (crit chance).

I mean Grand Enchaner staff only has 58 cold damage. It's won't beat either of the above crafted with dragon bone, let alone the material bonuses. My Archmage staff right now has 52 att % and 17% crit, and it isn't even optimized yet.

I see. Where do I find these schematics?

They're both found in t3 chests that are scattered through Enterprise Du Leon. You can farm most of those chests by saving in front of them, opening them, if they don;'t have what you want, reload. You can also take 1 item from a chest if it has more than 1, leave the area, (like going back to skyhold) come back and the chest will have new items.

This is kinda save scumming, but w/e. You can also buy the First Enchanter Staff from the Calladin Keep merchant in Enterprise du Leon, but it's not quite as good as the Seer or Archmage staff schematics.

Emprise de Leon eh? Can't believe I didn't get it after killing all three dragons. Guess I'll just have to be more thorough next time. Thanks for the help.

I crafted the First Enchanter Staff for Dorian - untill I get to make a better one - and it has 144 dps/69 fire damage + all the other bonus treats, of course.

Dorian ended up my 1st playthrough with Yavanalis, equipped with a Superb Corrupted Rune

DPS :204, 76 cold damage

I remember I get it at the merchant in the Emprise du Lion

World Carver, a staff I just crafted with 78 fire damage 207 dps. It also has better stats in 43% attack, 12 dexterity and 18 % crit.

I like the look of your World Carver! I'm going to have to try and make one of those for myself the next time I go mage.

Is there a specific chest in the Emprise that has the Seer Staff schematic?

Whilst on the subject, does anyone know the best mage armour/schematic and where to get it? Please and thank you :P

Depends on what you're looking for. With the short list perk you get access to Superior Battlemage Armor from the hissing wastes merchant (you may need to save and reload), which has a medium amount of cloth utility  (willpower) and decent armor. This is probably the best light armor in the game.

Though with snofleur, you get access to medium armor, which lets you wear Superior Prowler Amor though, (obtained through the same way as superior battlemage). This gives you more armor, and access to only leather utility. I love leather utility because it boosts your dexterity, which in turn boosts your crit damage.Yes even on mages.

You can also wear heavy armor with silverite, though the bonuses aren't as good as the above two, so I don't consider it to be that great.

Personally, I think that superior prowler armor is the best armor for all dps.

If you're willing to give up 1 leather utility slot you can also buy the Templar Armor Schematic which is a heavy armor and has 8 leather utility slots and just farm Silverite between the two Templar camps in Emprise (takes like 5 minutes, no RNG needed). That's what I've done for my rogues since getting to the Short List Perk for Superior Prowler requires a lot of perk point investment T_T.

Templar armor doesn't allow arm or leg slots, kind of immediately disqualifying it from being the "best"

Though it does look really cool.

Superb. I would like to see the same but frost staff, it would look fantastic.

The element of the staff is determined by the material used.

I'm probably going to go with the Superior Battlemage armour purely for aesthetics. The Prowler armour would be better gameplay wise, but I'm nearing the end game now with not much left as a challenge.

The Short List perk, I'm guessing it's a random chance of the Hissing Wastes vendor stocking the schematic after I unlock the perk? Saved and reloaded a few times now, but his stock doesn't seem to change. The best schematics I can get don't change, atm it's a sturdy armour for each class, Templar armour and Elven Rogue.

So you can find the Seer schematic in Emprise du Lion? Because I thought you could only get it in Cradle of Sulevin and I already cleared out the chests without save scumming and now there isn't anything left.  I can't find the damn thing anywhere.

I've just got the Seer Staff schematic from Emprise du Lion. Not 100% sure, but it was either from a dragon or the merchant in the reclaimed keep.
