Through reading The Masked Empire, there was a constant thought I had. I tink there's a lil' something more to the tea that Celene drinks.
In the book, it says that she usually feels tired or sluggish until she's had her 2nd cup in the mornings. And usually gets a headache after not having any in however long.
Sounds a lil' withrawley to me.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Theory: Is Celene on drugs?

Yeah, I've got some thoughts in this.
She is extremely stressed devoting her life to serving her empire and barely gets any sleep. Her morning tea is like Briala: Its one of the few peaceful moments she gets to enjoy, before she has to bear the weight of Orlais on her shoulders for the next 20 hours.
I'd probably get a headache too if I stopped drinking my caffeine too. There's caffeine in tea, right?

She's a caffeine addict.
The afternoon headaches? A common sign of caffeine addiction.
I have the same problem. The headaches are an...irritation.

Ah. I'm not a tea-drinker, so was oblivious that it had caffeine in it lol
Damn, thought that was a cool lil' extra in the book.

Find me a world leader who isn't addicted to caffeine and I'll show you one who either has a health problem where they can't have caffeine, or one who isn't doing their job... most fall into the latter category.

I gave up soda in November. Took a week but I stopped getting headaches and the occasional bout of heartburn.
Giving up caffiene is difficult, but physically you feel better if you stay off it.

I kicked the habit for nearly a near. Now I'm as bad about it as I ever was.
You're right. I should quit again.

It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed,
the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

I remember in my naive late teens, all my friends turning to coffee to deal with exams stress and the deal of trying to get in to collage. Those who didn't do that were chugging soda.
"I will not be like that!" I decided. "I will drink something soothing and functional instead, rather then get addicted like them."
They say it's harder to get addicted to tea-caffeine then it is coffee or soda, but I don't know about that (of course, I was drinking a lot of mate). Egh. I ended up getting sick almost everyday, same sort of symptoms as anyone with caffeine addiction.
I still drink tea, but these days, I drink rooibos. >.> Much safer.

I think we need to add in the factor too that Celene does drink Wyvern poison.
Its Aqua La...I dunno. But it WAS mentioned in DA2: Mark of the Assassin by the Duke.
Possible the effects Celene is having in the book could be attributed to drinking this poison or caffeine, or something else entirely or hell all of thee above.

Yeah, what is that stuff called? I've been trying to remember.
The headaches however, are definitely caffeine...Believe the addicts, caffeine is enough.

Aquae lucidius, although the effects seem too much to be part of Celene's morning routine:
Testimonies from a few of those fortunate enough to sample the costly concotion:
"I feel confused but happy!"
"It was as though my soul took wing and floated about my head."
"I had a vision of my great-grandmother and found it oddly arrousing."
"I can see through time!"

Two cups of black tea has about the same amount of caffeine as one cup of coffee. My caffeine habit is only a single cup of coffee in the mornings, and I am wrecked in the afternoon & evening if I don't get it.
