Am I the only one?  It runs so smooth and then when an important battle comes it all goes to hell.  Stutter, 1 fram per second.  what gives?  I have a 9800 gtx card and 4 gigs of ram on a quad core.  Shouldn't happen should it?

Having the same problem here. Not quite the same specs (9800gt, 3gb RAM, dual core) but I can run it at high or low settings and still see the same results. Really hope to find a solution soon, it's making the game hard to play for more than a few minutes at a time.

what version of nvidia drivers..it's been reported across the board the 191's are having issues and people have just rolled back to a previous version and all was well. You can grab older drivers off nvidias site

Tried downgrading to the 186 drivers as well as upgrading to the 195 beta. It seemed to run fine but about 15 minutes in the stuttering came back. Anyone experiencing this find a solution yet?

I had alot of trouble with the 191 drivers and though the rollback to the 190 helped a little after 30min to an hour I'm back to having terrible lag. Basically about every hour I will save my game quit out and restart the game. Once it loads I'll be fine for a while, though battles seems to make it choppy quicker than if I'm just running around town doing quests/dialog.

It doesn't seem to be a system spec issue as people with terrible systems are able to run the game smoothly but some of us, even if we dropped everything to low have issues like this.

It almost seems like a memory leak but my game is only taking up about a gig of ram.

It COULD be a securom problem. I'm assuming thats their silly little copy protection scheme, and god knows it had issues with tons of other games in the last year. I'll have to try no-cding my copy sometime late tonight and see if that changes anything.

I've tried it with all the online and uploading options both on and off, though I havent tried playing while not logged in at all, will have to try that as well.

I've tried both supper high and supper low graphics settings with the same results.

It's easily reproducible for me during any decently long play session so I'll trial and error some things late tonight when I get to play again. If anyone finds anything that might lead to the issue lemme know.

I'm experiencing what appears to be memory leak problems with my ATI 4870. This may be related, seeing that the game lags more, load times become longer, etc the more you play the game in a single sitting.

From what I've seen there's a lot of problems associated with the 8800 and 9800 cards. I guess we just have to wait for a driver update.

So infuriating that my roommate is running it smooth on his old laptop and I'm sitting here watching slideshows of the game every 20 seconds :(

Well I have a 9600 gto and I have the issues, and my roomate has a 9600 gt and doesnt have the issues. AND he is using the 191 drivers.

I'll have time in a couple of hours to start playing again and I'll try a few things.

PC-DVD.

I get similar stuttering at some places regardless of what drivers I use. I got it on 185 drivers and just upgraded to 191 and it still happens.

EDIT- I too am on a 9600 gt

I got audio stuttering. It is very annoying. I got two 9800 GT in SLI mode. I got dual core AMD, 4 gig Ram, 64 bit version of Vista. My drivers are updated. My video does not stutter but my sound does.

I'm having the same problem. Game runs flawlessly most of the time and then during certain scenes or a certain fight, my fps drops down to a slide show. I hope they find a fix soon. My specs should run at max. Quad Core. 4gb. 64-bit proc, 8800 gts 640mb

Do you have a Creative sound card? If so, have you setup Alchemy? My sound runs great, using an X-Fi Xtreme Gamer with 5.1 sound.

Same problem.

Phenom 9600, 4G, 8800GS. Ram stays steady at 65ish% the whole time I play. CPU's never get peaked out either (Have G15 keyboard with performance monitor running). Same problem, game runs smooth and gets progressively worse load times go to 5+ minutes withint 20 minutes or so of playing, video stutters. The load times are odd, the hard drive is NOT churning most of the time, it's just sitting there. When the loads are normal, the hard drive churns almost continiously. It's weird. I tried increasing my page file size but that did nothing. Seems to get worse the further I get into the game (maybe it's got something to do with how many party members you have??). Didn't have many issues in the origin part but now that i'm in the tower I can only play about 15 minutes before it's unplayable. Changing graphic settings does nothing.

Edit - upon thinking about it it could be a memory leak, this is a 32 bit app I believe so it won't use over 2G ram anyway. Also, I failed to mention that I'm on Windows 7 Release 64bit - fresh install (not a vista upgrade).

There are som fixes included in the latest beta-driver from nVidia. Maybe that driver can fix the issue.

Same problem.

GeForce 8800 GTX, 4gb RAM, AMD Phenom (Quad) 2.2GHz, Vista 64-bit, PC-DVD copy (Collector's Edition).

Does not help to lower the setting either.

I know this has been beat to death. Thats why I did not start my own thread. I have this same graphics stuttering issue. I have tried the limited gamut of graphics options, updated drivers, and I get nothing. I meet all the recommended requirements to the best of my limited knowledge. The only area i'm lacking is a bit on the processor side (still exceed mimimum req). Also videos in games (cutscenes and video from the internet has been choppy since i got this thing in March09).

I have tried the latest beta driver 195 notebook from nvidia..... everytime I try to install it it says it is for XP 64 bit only. Their product info says it should be for Vista and 7. *shrug*
