Yeah, I just realized that I never triggered A Bitter Pill in Act 2. You need Fenris in the party when you travel to an area outside of Kirkwall. Apparently, I never did that. I'm now in the middle of Act 3, and I've only now realized my mistake. The whole plan was to establish my canon playthrough of Dragon Age II in preparation for Inquisition... and now that plan is completely ruined. I can't believe I completely missed this important quest.

 

However, I'm playing the PC version. Is there a console command I can use to trigger the quest, complete it, and then jump back to Act 3 without causing catastrophic problems? If not, then this is devastating, and I honestly don't know if I want to finish this playthrough. Which means I might have to replay the whole game, and I have to postpone Inquisition even more, and I'm very angry.

Try "runscript zz_fen_debug" --> Dialogue Jump --> Initiated Dialogue --> Act 2 Post Plot Dialogue. Not sure if it'll help though.

Or use the Keep to set up DA2 events the way you want them to be, you can't import DA2 into DAI anyway.

It jumps to the ending of his quest, but it doesn't let me actually trigger and play the whole quest. And even then, I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to go "back to the future" and continue Act 3 without any problems.

 

Or use the Keep to set up DA2 events the way you want them to be, you can't import DA2 into DAI anyway.

I know, and I don't care. I want to experience all of the content, especially when it's my canon story.

If you want to play the whole quest, then I'm afraid you'll have to reload from the Act 2 save. If you just want to trigger his Act 3 quests, then it may help. Or it may not, since I haven't skipped Bitter Pill.

Discovered something interesting. By using "runscript zz_dae_debug", I can trigger the encounter that begins A Bitter Pill. However, after the battle and conversation, A Bitter Pill instantly completes itself, even though the quest has just begun. I don't know if this will lead to a solution or not.

 

EDIT: And now I've figured out a way to trigger Alone, his Act 3 quest, without losing all the current quests in my journal. It's basically just "runscript zz_fen_debug" and then jumping to his Act 3 plot. This is my most promising lead. I might have to watch A Bitter Pill on Youtube, and then trigger Alone through this method.

 

EDIT 2: Okay, by jumping to his Homebase Start Act 3 dialogue, I can trigger Alone in the least messy way possible. It even updates his codex entry to reflect that A Bitter Pill was completed.
