*sigh*
Music has always been a huge part of Dragon Age. I loved the music in Origins and I love the music in Inquisition. But to say they copied Skyrim? UGH, srsly?
I only wish that Leliana's song in-game had the lyrics! That was so beautiful!

Go home.
Heh
Didn't think Skyrim when that song happen had a different tone to it then the dragonborn one, and sounded more relegious.
But games now have full bards in them deal with it, and skyrim wasn't the first and won't be the last
Fetch quests? Not like DAI fetch quests. I don't remember having to collect wine bottles, or ram meat, or bear claws, or skulls, or warden memories, or, etc. etc. Though in Skyrim you did pick herbs - or you could buy the herbs.
Skyrim was THE fetch-quest game, lol. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite games of all time, especially when you can play it with 75ish graphics and immersion mods.

I still get shivers of horror when I try to find 30 crimson Nirnroots in blackreach *shudders* ...
But now I feel like, like, LIKE SINGING! *coughs*
There once was a hero named Ragnar the Red, who came riding to Whiterun from ole Rorikstead!
And the braggart did swagger and brandish his blade, as he told of bold battles and gold he had made!
But then he went quiet, did Ragnar the Red, when he met the shieldmaiden Matilda who said...
"Oh, you talk and you lie and you drink all our mead! Now I think it's high time that you lie down and bleed!"
And so then came the clashing and slashing of steel, as the brave lass Matilda charged in full of zeal!
And the braggart named Ragnar was boastful no moooooree... when his ugly red head rolled around on the floor!
wow, way to miss the point people.
To the numpty that's stating all rpg's have songs... well duh!
This one just had a very familiar feeling to it.
And the fetch quests/inventory and stuff? agian, welll duh!
While we're at it let's add magic to the list! Skyrim has magic, Dragon Age has magic. Outrage!
In case we need a reminder, others have mentioned Leliana broke out into song before it was cool
I thought I was about to proven wrong but nope.
Leliana's song is beutiful. I love that piece. I have the DA:O & DA2 soundtracks.
I'm not complaining about the music in the games (although DA:I is very much lacking in musical presence for the most part)
I'm saying that IMO they ruined the Dawn will come by having them all sing it and it being horrendous.
You said, quote "It's too much like skyrim" in your OP.
People said that it's like skyrim in the sense that it is also an RPG, but the songs are vastly different.
Then you say that you're not saying it's like skyrim.
The point of presenting Leliana's song (it's BEAUTIFUL, btw, not however you spelled it) is proof that Bioware did it before Skyrim ever came out.
Stop trolling. You're face will stick that way if you don't.
Personally found that particular scene to be one the most engaging scenes in a DA game.
It reminded me more of Pippins song in RotK tbh
The Skyrim songs got so annoying and intrusive after 100 hours of Skyrim that i stealth-killed as many bards as i could, this wasn't the case in DA:I. Same with dragon encounters.
This one.
Jumping up mountains, just like skyrim, no drive to the main story, just like skyrim.
Skyrim using a vehicle (horse) to vertically climb any mountain was stolen from the Mako in Mass Effect.
Or game mechanics are just game mechanics, I can never tell which

Logic is not allowed in the BSN zone!
Skyrim also had fetch quests, crafting material nodes with gathering, and an inventory system. FOR SHAME BIOWARE.
I think you're reaching here, bud.
Yep. People are nit picking to the point of ridiculousness now.

Agreed. Its was one of the most moving scenes I have ever seen for any game. Anybody who hates it is either young and doesn't get the point or want their games to be like they were 10 years ago.

OK, but you were complaining that it's too much like Skyrim, even though a) Skyrim didn't have a scene where everyone starts singing together and b ) Origins had a cinematic singing scene way before Skyrim even came out.
I really wanted to hate the Dawn Will Come for being cheesy... I ussually dislike things like that. I'm all like "oh yea sure now you're trying to make me feel things well I refuse!" And I was all ready to be pfft to that scene in this game... but I couldn't. It was done well and fit the moment as well ![]()
And now that song is stuck in my head...
Anywho, no I don't think it was a ripoff from Skyrim either.
I still get shivers of horror when I try to find 30 crimson Nirnroots in blackreach *shudders* ...
Crimson Nirnroots? OMG. That one. One of the worst horrors.
Those DAI players who had been complaining about collecting herbs fetch quests need to play that Skyrim quest.

Who has problems getting Herbs? Clear Crestwood, claim the keep, buy all of your herbs in the village and the keep.
It's neither "horrendous" nor is it "cheesy". Point is: Haven has fallen, people are dead, the Inquisition has obviously failed in protecting them, and everything is about to crumble apart. And this song, a religious song, reminds them that there is still hope, that their belief (its about the people, not the Quizzy or the player's belief here) in the Maker is strong and can make them overcome any threat and obstacle, just as the faith had done hundreds of years, ever since Andraste rallied the people and freed them from oppression...
And the singing, well, anyone who has ever been in a church will get this. I am not religious myself, but those chorals (especially now during X-mas-holidays) can get yourself a nice shiver ...even though not all singers are top-notch with their voices ... but I heard neither God nor The Maker care about that...Songs have always been a very, very strong pillar in the western churches (not sure about islamic and other religion though)
The Dawn Will Come worked for me in a way that Leliana's song in Origins didn't, probably because the orchestra only comes in right at the end and so it feels a lot more 'real', and because it's such a big plot moment. I got goose-bumps even the second time through. Frostbite-level lipsynching helps a lot as well
.
I think it's clear that the writers were thinking of In Uthenera when they put it in. Whether Skyrim did something similar is probably beside the point.
No way in hell... The music has nothing to do with Skyrim.... It's a great score, but we should have had more music ingame while exploring. ALso most cutscenes are without any music which is a real shame.
As for influences, this score is inlfuenced a little by Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel. You can hear the drum rythm in main theme and there is another piece of music which is inlfuenced by the theme form man of steel. it's great soundtrack. If we've had more music like in Skyrim it could've been epic.
I didn't make the comparison. I think that scene was truly unique to this game. I did find it a bit weird. Especially when Cullen started to sing. I couldn't help but laugh.
Surprisingly, while I kinda felt Leiliana's song DA:O was awkward, and I initially disliked Cullen as a character, I think when he started singing as well is what worked for me with that scene. He has the look of someone who is remembering the chants they used to drill into him when he was young and training to be a Templar, so he digs up that part of him to connect with everyone and feel better.
Hasn't TES been simply rehashing the same EPIC theme from Morrowind?
I seem to remember a YouTube video about it...

Cullen was weird in my game too because he was out of sync and the facial animations aren't really the games strongpoint. Nevertheless a powerful scene that certainly hasn't much in common with Skyrims tavern songs.

IIRC that theme is even barebones in Daggerfall. IE: The Elder Scrolls has a theme, it's not the "Skyrim song" Skyrim is just the most recent, most audibly expanded version of the Elder Scrolls Theme.

See, when a game is praised because of the mods that make it better, then it's not really a good game is it?
