Hasn't TES been simply rehashing the same EPIC theme from Morrowind?

I seem to remember a YouTube video about it...

Yesh but its like one song and OP didn't point at whole soundtrack but rather at certain song.

Must say that i'm not sure how does this remind Skyrim in anyway except that both games have fictional game lore related songs with actual lyric, but music type and context in which is used totally different (actually cant even remember anyone actually singing anything in Skyrim without mods)

You said, quote "It's too much like skyrim" in your OP.

People said that it's like skyrim in the sense that it is also an RPG, but the songs are vastly different.

Then you say that you're not saying it's like skyrim.

The point of presenting Leliana's song (it's BEAUTIFUL, btw, not however you spelled it) is proof that Bioware did it before Skyrim ever came out.

Stop trolling.  You're face will stick that way if you don't.

Personally found that particular scene to be one the most engaging scenes in a DA game.

Ok grammar nazi, chill out, haha, a small typo.
But I guess that's what you have to do to make yourself feel better about life right?
Ok, you can have it.

Besides, I don't think I said the SCENE was like Skyrim, the SONG and the way it was sang felt a lot lik esomething I'd hear in Skyrim.
The scene itself was fine and I get that it's about th epeople coming together through their religion.
I feel like that scene itself could have been much better if the animation were at all relistic. Instead it looked like stupid. (but again, that maybe a ps3 issue as the game is quite hideous on ps3)

Never got a skyrim vibe from that song at all. It did remind me of the Pippin song from Return of the King, though. Rather instantly.

To me it was just reminiscent of the style of some medieval songs I've heard which is only proper given the sort of setting it is.

I didn't get a Skyrim vibe, which would be odd, since I never bought Skyrim... However, if having that in game is a rip off, then Skyrim ripped off Origins:

Hmmm... no. You may feel that it sounds similar, but looking at the songs from Skyrim and then looking at The Dawn Will Come, there are two very different styles at work there. The songs one would hear in Skyrim are meant to be upbeat drinking songs. The Dawn Will Come is a slower hymn, with a much more solemn tone. The comparison to Pippin's song, however is fair.

See, when a game is praised because of the mods that make it better, then it's not really a good game is it?

I actually liked the game before I started to mod it. But if you have the machine to do so, why the heck not? I didn't alter actual gameplay in the least, other than making enemies level up with you so that the game would be more challening at higher levels. I added in graphics/landscape/lighting/weather mods as well as more immersive armors/weapons that were designed to fit the lore. I didn't change or add a single quest or character.

So yes, it's still a good game, even in its vanilla state. If it was built on an engine that was "un-moddable" like Frostbite, I'd still love the game just as much.

The Dawn Will Come worked for me in a way that Leliana's song in Origins didn't, probably because the orchestra only comes in right at the end and so it feels a lot more 'real', and because it's such a big plot moment. I got goose-bumps even the second time through. Frostbite-level lipsynching helps a lot as well  .

I think it's clear that the writers were thinking of In Uthenera when they put it in. Whether Skyrim did something similar is probably beside the point.

Leliana song in DAO was ridicoulous. Was not even sing by Leliana voice actor. The Dawn Will Come was surprisingly well done. One of the best moment in the game.

I wouldn't say it ridiculous - maybe Lel's VA just couldn't sing? I just wish they used the actual lyrics rather than "AAAHHHaaaHHHHaaaaHHHHaaaahhhh" the whole time.

"The Dawn Will Come" was very powerful. I remember seeing it for the first time and it really moved me. I was like "OMG are these people actually bowing to my character? Holy crap this is powerful." I'm not sure if it was Lel's VA this time, but I know that Cullen's singing was still Greg Ellis.

Leliana sounded like Leliana to me in Dawn Will Come. In DAO I think It was just a cheep copy and paste of a prerecorded song that the dev did not know how to utilize  :D

I still get shivers of horror when I try to find 30 crimson Nirnroots in blackreach *shudders* ...

But now I feel like, like, LIKE SINGING! *coughs*

There once was a hero named Ragnar the Red, who came riding to Whiterun from ole Rorikstead!
And the braggart did swagger and brandish his blade, as he told of bold battles and gold he had made!
But then he went quiet, did Ragnar the Red, when he met the shieldmaiden Matilda who said...
"Oh, you talk and you lie and you drink all our mead! Now I think it's high time that you lie down and bleed!"
And so then came the clashing and slashing of steel, as the brave lass Matilda charged in full of zeal!
And the braggart named Ragnar was boastful no moooooree... when his ugly red head rolled around on the floor!

*twitch* crimson nirnroot  *twitch*

Ok you got me. Skyrim DID have a few fetch quests. And DAI isn't so bad with them once you get out of the Hinterlands (and ignoring shard collecting helps too).

Skyrim using a vehicle (horse) to vertically climb any mountain was stolen from the Mako in Mass Effect.

Or game mechanics are just game mechanics, I can never tell which

LOl. But why ride when you can fly over the mountains? http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/24234/?

This is just one of many flying mods. Of course, flying a jet over Skyrim (one mod you can even go on a bombing run) is a bit immersion break. ;)

Damn I wish DAI allowed modding. It would change everything about this game.

It was one of the best scenes in the game, as much as i love Bethesda they never would be able to craft a scene with that depth and emotion. The songs serve different purposes on different games, and they sound pretty different. Dont know what you were trying to say...

I was being a bit sarcastic so you know, I never understood the appeal to changing the video game to make it "better", but then again I approach tabletop games with that sort of mindset, so what do I know I guess?

Yes! Thank you! I knew I wasn't the only person in the world thinking that.

The appeal for modding, to me at least, isn't that it makes it "better," but that it makes it "fresh."  At a certain point, after 50/100/300? hours a game can get stale, and it's usually time to play a new game. Or, if you are strapped for cash, download a mod that changes the entire combat and leveling system.  Boom, you now have, sure, the same story and art and everything, but essentially a whole knew RPG to play around with.  Skyrim isn't made "good" by having mods, but it's made it so I (and others) can put over 700 hours in the game without needing to simply move on to a new game.

HA!

Skyrim and DAI BOTH copied this:

Lament of the Highborne by the Banshee Queen, Dark Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, as she sees her forces overrun by the undead forces of the Lich King and knows her death is near. (hope I got the lore right lol)

I suppose this is what happens when people have small reference pools, they start assuming things are being copied from something else.

I feel like the title of this thread is very dirty and perverted. Mods must have not noticed yet.
